I generally agree with this. Just a few general comments:
    * Mathematical concepts and abstractions pervade and permeate the entire field. Math is the 'secret sauce'. If you are asking whether you need to learn math, you are a bad fit for the field.
    * Your competition for certain jobs and co-workers will be people with degrees in math or statistics, engineers and physics majors. People not only comfortable with mathematics but quite capable in it too. You need to be able to converse and keep up with them. When one of them says, 'how about we try to model this with a Maclaurin series'? You don't necessarily need to know or remember the topic, but you gotta understand the fundamental concert being suggested.
    * Math is magical. Learn to love it, even if you fear it.

Absolutely! To get into "Data" a great familiarity with Statistics and Probability is needed. I am more ML/DL heavy so Math (Linear Algebra, Calculus. Geometry) is the order of the day for me lool! The video was very straight to the point! 🔥

I was in the math club in university and making equations and applying variables to real life situations was something we did all the time. I’m pretty sure that DS is the right role for me. After hearing you explain that this is something needed I definitely want to include my experience from that role on my resume.

Statistics and Probability are the most important one however one need not to learn these two from cover to cover.

Such a great channel and thoughtfully curated/presented.
I started my journey working for DOD supply chain. The data points are immense and seem overwhelming but bringing a semblance of order from chaos is extremely satisfying. I used SQL and basic logic to bring about that order. Once complete (you are never really done) SQL queries can provide insights into just about any datapoint and it's relationship to other data points, again, very satisfying. Being comfortable with how data is collected in it's various forms from comma delineated, xlxs, xml etc and know the mechanics of moving data in and out of applications, though mechanical, is also very helpful as data can be gleaned from repositories that are rich in data but need meaning to be useful and to me that is at the heart of Data, meaning otherwise data is rubbish. What company's pay you for is context or meaning in light of present circumstance.

Hey just found your channel and subscribed. I’m a third year college student who definitely wants to get into data science. I’m a statistics major and math minor, and my major exposure to programming was R, and python. But for data science tasks like data manipulation and visualization. I plan on getting a masters in statistics after college. I really love statistics and math especially, the abstract nature of things like linear algebra and probability theory are interesting to me, and this is why I’m doing a masters. However even if I’m getting a MS in statistics, there’s obviously a huge downside in that I’m not getting as much software engineering skills from learning so much math.
What do you think is the best way for me to develop such skills? I’ve been told that if I can code well, then I can be a “full stack” data scientist, in that I’d know the fundamental statistics, but also be great at software engineering. (And seems like the latter is also a big part of the job). How should I learn this and what are your suggestions?
