Perm paper? I agree that the 1x30 is a steep learning curve but it's great for hogging off material relatively quickly and I often use it to repair chips, broken tips and get something of an edge back on supper dull knives before finish sharpening on my fixed a angle set up or Tormek style machine to get it extra sharp.
@@Therapistinthewhitehouse it’s like cigarette paper. Super thin. But you can search perm paper and it will come up on Amazon. Much larger box than cigarette paper. It really is!!! I actually just got a new tool for repeat sharpening. The 1x30 is great for first time people where you have to really remove material. But I like systems where I can remove as little as possible! The new tool does a great job of that 😊but I for sure will still keep the 1x30 for when I need heavy repairs!
I struggle to get knives sharp with the edge pro apex. When I lay the knife on the table, I find it rocks which changes angle when the stone goes across the blade. I got the magnet add on but still the blade rocks too much to keep a consistent angle. Any suggestions?
@@kylefreemason I sounds like you are sharpening picket knives. What might help is instead of trying to magnetize and have the spine flat. You can magnetize the primary bevel where there is a lot more surface area for the magnet to hold. Then it's just the scratch method with a sharpie since the angles will be different than marked out. I'll try to make a short video on it here in a bit to see if it helps ya. 🙂
@@davestelling thank you for the compliment. I charge $9 for regular scissors. And $21 for sheers. Also as of currently I do not sharpen clipper blades. But hope that info helps. 🙂
What is the purpose of the isopropanol alcohol? It doesn't lubricate and evaporates in seconds. I use baby oil on my diamond stones. It keeps the stones from clogging and there's zero dust.
@@Therapistinthewhitehouse I only use 80% and it sticks around for a decent amount of time.but it’s to cut down on the dust from the stones. But I might have to try baby oil. Also might make it cut smoother due to the oil base decreasing resistance.
@@Samsmobilesharpening I used soapy water for a while but it started to rust my diamond stones, I then used nothing but hated the dust so tried Lansky’s oil and preferred it but too expensive so moved on to baby oil in a 2-3 oz dollar store spray bottle. One pump is enough to coat all but the really course stones and it works great.
@@Therapistinthewhitehouse yep I did the same with the soapy water. The cleanup was just too much. And they would rust like what you were experiencing. The iso is good about not rusting. But I’ll have to try the baby oil out. Thanks for the tip. 😊

I’m sure Cody would welcome you. Great video. I too love their system.
Great video Sam

Nice work - may I ask what the rate is for doing scissors?
It it an uncommon pleasure using properly sharp scissors/shears!
Thanks for sharing...
