I agree with Wally below. If you don't care about injury and want to push yourself, then keeping up on rides like that is a good motivator. If not, take your time and enjoy the ride. Its called adventure riding not adventure racing. They make tracks for racing.
Cool video! Nice ride, beautiful countryside. Hardest thing about riding in a group is we all have different level of skill & it's hard to ride to your own ability plus bikes capability when riding in a group. Versys x 300 is a touring bike, most of the other bikes looked like dirt bikes. Well done.
Riding on pavement and off pavement are two completely different styles. When you're on dirt/gravel don't lean into the turn, try counter leaning your body so you can catch yourself if you slide a little bit, you can also stick your foot out to help balance. Off road overall is much easier standing up though, your arms and legs act as a second set of suspension and you're able to counter lean much easier. It just takes some getting used to
Great video. I like that you were looking to actually put this bike through it's paces to see if it could keep up. However, I really think that you should have taken the time to install the knobby's before taking it on this ride. I understand about lowering tire air pressure to increase traction, however, a pressure drop from 30psi down to 15psi was too drastic and created a potential danger to yourself. I would highly recommend not such a drastic drop in psi in the future. 20psi would be a big enough drop. Stay safe and keep the videos coming.
I did a trail ride once a few years ago where the lead guys were always riding balls to the wall like it was a cross country race. It sucked. You had to stay so focused on your riding to avoid crashing you couldn't even start to enjoy the scenery or the ride. Seems like the same thing here in this video...like you are screaming to keep up. Not the way it is enjoyable. If you want to go fast and run that ragged edge, then race. I race motocross to get my speed fix. Not on these joy rides. The same thing happened to me on snowmobiles. I had been out of the sport for a long time...finally broke down and bought a used one so I could ride with the guys. First ride out it was the same thing....WOT and balls to the wall all the time. Not like the nice and easy trail rides I did with my dad and everyone else when I was a kid...they were awesome. Sold the sled and that was the last time I ever rode a snowmobile. I only ride motorcycles with old slow guys now...yeah I am one but MUCH more enjoyable. And I only ride small light motorcycles...no big heavy tanks for me fast or not. Just sold a Yamaha XT 225 and just bought an '18 Versys X 300...stay tuned
I had an xt250 and loved it, but I wanted to be able to run faster on the highway. This x300 fits the bill . I also sold my 1800 Wing as I now enjoy riding more slowly and pay attention to where I am as to where I’m going.
@@jimpiquette1375 I am looking for a used xt250-EFI to buy. No luck yet, so may be buying a brand new one this coming spring. But now, the new 300cc Kawis or even Versys 300, MT-03 are on list too. I wont be doing amy hiways n very little off road. Just sold my '11 DL650-ABS, it was still too much bike for my needs, short, morning rides. Looking forward to a smaller/lighter bike.
When I installed the Bark busters I also installed Rox anti-vibration elite 2 pivot risers. I was worried about the same thing. So I installed these and everything seems to be fine.

Does GPS come with it? Low mileage? High fuel economy? When the ride , now April 17 2019! Need more air not less!the other bikes don’t have head lights does yours?all I see is the windshield and the road/ country side are you lost?
Riding with only half your air pressure , just a bad idea on pavement , so you can get more traction on dirt ?! The condition of the dirt roads are dry , this is not an enduro bike , shouldn’t treat it as such , get some air in those tires , tractor through at a slower pace which is what this bike is all about , you are only asking for trouble with half aired tires .

Maybe if he was on more challenging roads with a dirt bike

Looks like a blast. Just what the Versys was partially designed for.
Bill Reid it was a blast.

When you installed the bark busters and removed the massive bar end balances did it make a difference to the vibration?

Amazing! 👌👌👌 The phone mount along with windshield is very convenient. Can you give me the details on that too?!

I’m considering buying a Versys 300, but the engine sounds quite revvy. Does this get annoying after a while?
No I feel that the bike is great. I really love that the bike can rev up to 12k.
Wear earplugs , problem solved!
Do you know the part number of the barkbusters kn your vercys 300x. Looking to get some for my bike
crazycrossno76 The website I used to buy them.

This makes me miss Indiana.
So your in america? The best country in the world.
What windscreen did you put on yours?
Bet that would have been fun on a Gryffin as well ;-)
Mike K. I was going to ask to take one and do a quick trip. What do you think?
@@advmotovlogger6349 Go for it! I'm real curious to know if the Gryffin is just a styling exercise, or if it does in fact "scramble".
What covers are you running on the barkbusters and can you send pic. Thanks
crazycrossno76 I have the bark buster brand. I use the storm covers.
Storm awesome
That is Indiana alright. Dang, makes me a bit homesick.
Hey could you let me know which windshield bar you have and where did you get it from?
its on aliexpress
lift suspension height, how to do on the versys x 300? i am from Brasil!!
Stock tires?
Riding hard paved roads with aired down tires - bad idea.
What is that navigation app?
Scenic
Dropping air pressure! You don’t need to for the gravel roads you were on. Drop the air pressure in sand and on knarly single track.
Is 15psi safe on the road ???
You might envy me being in Colorado, but I miss Indiana forests. This is making me home sick.
