I grew up with in line twins , me and my friends, never did we discuss vibration because it wasn't a issue , now we had enduro thumpers and sure discussed it on those.
Last year I was looking to start riding again after 15 years off. So I got a Grom after watching your video. I’m now looking for another bike because even though it incredible on gas the ride is rough. I commute 6 miles to work through country roads and I was thinking about this bike and hear you are again with the bike I’m looking for. Nice relaxing video.
Great video. Beautiful place to ride. The 300 scoots right along. Years ago I had a Honda CB 350 twin. It was very quick. For the type of riding I’ve done in the past and what I would do if I get another bike this would do great. I’ve thought about a Harley but so pricey. At 72 I don’t have a lot of riding years remaining. This would be fun…Peace..
Great commentary about the history of the creation of the Scablands in eastern Wa state. It was lake Missoula that ice dams kept breaking causing the unusual appearance of the landscape there. Supposedly this was the source of large rocks in the Willamette valley down along I-5 in Oregon.
Was a great day today. My wife and I took a ride down to the Royal Gorge Bridge. Definitely a sign that summer is coming. Lots of bikes out today. And as nice as your plan sounds regarding “one for you, one for me,” personally it won’t matter to me. I watch every one of your videos as soon as they come out. 👍🏻 Nice bike, by the way.
Nice canyon ride. I bet it's no fun in the summer following a bunch of slow campers... I'm falling for this bike. I've been riding since 1965 and have had a few bikes in that time. Almost all of them were perfect in one way but sucked in another. I've gotten to the time in my life that I want a similar bike that I treasured the most and road the most was the CL175. It to was on a larger frame and seemed bigger than it was. Light weight, good MPG, awful suspension but comfortable up to a refill that you can recover quickly. I've not seen this bike reviewed at all until now. Seems like everyone wants bigger/faster. Well those people can certainly choose what they want. Seems to me they might as well get a car. I learned a long time ago that going slower is more exciting and interesting than missing a sign that says going to "Somewhere". Most people would never go to "Somewhere". Motorcycles were built to do exactly that. A lot of things are right on this bike..... at least for me. Thank you for showing what this can do and is capable of.
@@GasWorksISO Aye. That's what I was referring too. So that's Yakima canyon road then? I saw it on google maps after I made run out to Yakima and back. Looks like I need to go back there.
My TH-cam channel is dedicated to the Versys X300 and has many videos on modifications and installation of accessories and doing it correct. Changing front sprocket to a 15 tooth rubber bumpered and keeping the gear noise down. Barkbusters from T-Rex Racing and what you need to know. T-Rex Heavy Duty Skid Plate (best design) install with a 5th brace added or go all out with adding a 5th and 6th brace for the super beefed up option to lift the whole bike on a motorcycle jack. Full LED bulb swap out for brightness and safety. Adding USB charger, phone charger, Aux lights and a Denali Soundbomb Air Horn. Reinforcing the genuine Kawasaki crash bars. Dunlop Trailmax Mission tire install. And more -
I’ve been looking at the versus x 300 for my first bike. Is 300 enough power? I know people who are telling me not to get anything smaller than a 750. (They are diehard Harley guys).
Don’t listen to Harley guys. Most of them are parrots. How many CC’s you need depends entirely on what you plan on using the bike for. As a beginner bike, the Versys will be great. It has enough power, but it’s way up in the rev range, so it will be easy for you to learn on. You will eventually want something with more power, but don’t skip the small bike stage. There’s more to learning to ride than being able to handle a bikes power. Start small, lightweight, and cheap. There will be plenty of time to buy bigger bikes later.
@@GasWorksISO Thats what I did. Started with a Ruckus for a few summers, then got a SuperCub and now the Versys. It’s an excellent bike and feels like a rocket compared to what I was familiar with.
Enjoyed the ride and gives me a good idea of how the Versys 300 handles normal highway riding. I was thinking the other day about a video you did a while back. How is the hell with the big crack doing these days?
Selling my Himalayan for this bike you have there. Just found you on here and enjoy your videos. Would you say this bike could hold 70 mph and still enjoy the ride for a 3 hr trip?
Yep. Holds 70 no problem. I’d recommend a seat cushion and a better windscreen. The factory one is very noisy. Maybe consider some foam hand grip covers to cut the buzz in the handlebars for long trips. Oh, and the engine noise isn’t a problem at high speeds. Can’t even hear it. So the high rpm’s shouldn’t bother you, once you get used to it. Coming from the RE it might feel and sound strange, but the little 300 loves to rev high.
Great video. How is Versys300x on steep/up hilling sides ? does it like to give full throttle to get some speed out of it ? is it too struggling or how do you find it on hill/steep sides of the roads? I am planning to switch my bike to versys300x and your feedback would be highly helpful
If there a great deal of hills, it may not be the best bike if you like power. Luckily here in SW Conn. we don't have too many on my local highway. I love my 2020 x300 however. Front sprocket change to 15t is essential.
It has decent power for a 300cc motorcycle , however be prepared to downshift to 5th and wind her out to 10 or 11 K when you have steep hills and /or strong headwinds . It handles great ! , corners almost as good as the Ninja 300.
Sounds like you married a wonderful woman. Can my wife come hang out with her so she can learn not to get mad at me when I buy new stuff for my bike? 🤣 In case my wife sees this comment...I'm just kidding honey.
I have been looking at this bike and was wondering what the service costs are.. I was on a versys owners page and a guy said his dealer wanted $1400 for 7500 mile service.. Please share your experience..
I wondered also, but didn't want to sit through 25 minutes of boring riding to see if he mentioned it on the video. I don't know how he could because he didn't gas up.
You have a wife who doesn't care what you buy? How's that possible?? You sir should count your blessings because that's very rare. 😉 Nice bike BTW. Thanks for sharing.
I was amazed at how free from vibration the Versys 300 appeared, both the engine and chassis, the mirrors were rock solid the whole trip. Ride safe!
I grew up with in line twins , me and my friends, never did we discuss vibration because it wasn't a issue , now we had enduro thumpers and sure discussed it on those.
I've went on 3hr rides and felt nothing from vibration.
What a beautiful ride, makes me long for a bike (haven't ridden in over 25 years). Thanks for sharing!
If you like that you should ride the great River Road up the Mississippi River 🍔🍔
You need to get a bike again Bob , I did , looking for a new one this time .

Thanks for another great video! I'm up-sizing from a Grom and picking-up my 2023 X300 tomorrow morning! Can't freakin wait!
How do you like the X300 so far?
Congratulations on the new bike. Love that canyon road, looks fun.

I just bought the same bike, and am enjoying the break in period. Wish I had your open roads!
2:01 "My wife is awesome". That is so refreshing to hear. She thinks you're awesome, for calling her awesome on TH-cam.
It seems his wife actually might not approve of all his bikes though.

Riding that canyon road is awesome. Have ridden it many, many times in the past, and it is always amazing, regardless of season.
I wish I had a road like that to ride here in Michigan. What a beautiful ride thanks for sharing

Grateful to found your video, didn't expect to see the beauty of canyon with motorcycle's pov. Greetings from Malaysia 🇲🇾
What an amazing road. Thanks for showing it!
Great video! Really thinking about this bike or the CB500X!
Get the CB if you can! It’s a better bike, but it does cost a lot more.. Nothing wrong with the Versys though. Love mine.

The Versys makes me nostalgic for the Vulcan S. 🥲

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance. The road and wind noise are the koan.
Great , I am looking at one now , I like the fuel economy
Just collected mine from the dealer. It had 5 mins relatively easy going then I rode it hard. Break in done in 10km.

Last year on the 125 Kawasaki
I'm pretty sure I've ridden that canyon a few times. I usually prefer it to the slab or main highway.
This is an awesome video. I think I'll subscribe!

If you can open a can of tuna fish, you can service one of these yourself with basic tools. They’re very simple machines and are very easy to work on.
How do you make beautiful video that isn't pixilated? Got any links?
Upload resolution 4K, 75mbps minimum. Tricks the TH-cam servers and keeps footage clean. (shh….don’t tell anyone else) 👊🏻
@@GasWorksISO Thanks! Gonna need a better camera and better bandwidth....
You didn't mute that😅
But I did! 😉
Where is this? Looks like parts of Montana
Washington state, near Yakima.
so what was the mpg? You said this was going to be an Mpg test but you never gassed it up!
What was the miles per gallon
65+or-
is you speed meter showing miles per hour? or km per hour?
miles
So what was the mpg?

saw 60mpg on fuelly
15 tooth front is great for this bike. I think 6500 at 55 mph and engine is loafing.
I got one too....still in dog house

I've got a garage full of motorcycles. My wife never asks what I'm buying. Married 42 years.
GIVE THE SEAT A CHANCE TO BRAKE IN! IT IS ONLY A DAY OLD!LOL!
The 300 is an engine that WANTS to be revved to red line
at 13 min how about you upshift to 6 gear and just enjoy the relaxing ride ....
The diesel fumes from that truck REALLY stank, and I wanted to keep the revs in the power band so I could pass him.
Very high revs.
