  • As much as I enjoy hunting chukar this elusive bird has the ability to frustrate me like no other.
With it’s red eyes, seemingly mocking call, it’s affinity for the steepest and nastiest terrain and it’s ability to make even the best shooter look foolish, it’s nickname of “devil bird” is one that is well earned.
This was an unseasonably warm November day. The dogs worked hard and had a couple nice points. They were gassed by the time we were done.
    I shot terrible.
    The Chukar won the day.

You should. It’s as fun as it is frustrating.

Nice video. I've got a 14 month old French Britt. Neither of us are ready for chukar quite yet but we'll be chasing some grouse within a few days here. Actually, he's trained on quail and LOVES those things but I have no idea how to find quail on public. Anyway, nice hunt and great dogs!

Once again Shane...well done. I love the fact that you put your failures in there and explain what's happening. I was waiting for that 3rd shot and wondered what happened. I also was going to comment and say what a great still shot that was at 2:28 but you already knew that looking at the cover shot. Nice work stud...keep em coming.

Thanks Gary. When I told my wife I was making another one she said “Gary will be happy.” 😂 I said “well yeah, he’s my biggest fan.” Thanks man.

@@BustingCoveys hehe...that's awesome. Just remember that when you get famous and your videos start going viral. If more people knew how good they were you'd blow up!

Good one! I’ve only got a couple days in the field so far so you are making me jealous. “My pride days go, my legs say no”- so true.

Awesome stuff. I'd love to get into some chukar but have 0 know how, direction or dogs to do it. I can shoot a mean clay but have to get a few birds myself. This far I've got 1 quail for this year's season.

Where do you live? Don’t let the lack of experience stop you. There’s some good info online about chukar and where to find them. If you’re patient and willing to put some miles on your boots you’ll get into them.

Good dogs, exceptional Place, but more Classic for a chukar hunting a double shotgun not semiauto. Chukar hunting (with Pointer!) For Life, greetings.

A friend once said chukar hunters are barrel chested with tiny heads. I know this to be true because I'm one of them. Humbling birds to say the least.
