- In light of Louisiana passing a law mandating that the Ten Commandments appear in classrooms around the state, CNN’s Abby Phillip breaks down the forces at play behind the upswell of Christian nationalism ahead of the 2024 election. She then speaks with two Louisiana state representatives, Kyle Green (D) and Lauren Ventrella (R) about the bill. #CNN #news

"We believe this country was founded on that." Beliefs are not facts. If she would study American history, she would know that she's completely wrong.
Oops you just opened up a can of worms
Too stupid for that
Lol yea out founding fathers would have definitely supported gay marriage. Its all right there in the history books
The Western world was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, which the Enlightenment stole and removed God from the equation
And also… this is a pattern in history. Go too far left. Wave splashes right. After too far right wave splashes back left… people are so short sighted. In eight years it’ll shift left again.
Hypotheticals? This lady clearly takes others for idiots if she thinks that is a way of not answering the question.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's not hypothetical that there are families and teachers who are Jewish, Muslim, or Hindu in Louisiana.

And that those that are religious do not share the same religion. Even those that are Christian have have different groups that believe differently. All Christian religions are NOT the same. In addition, if you believe in God, you know in the bible man was given free will to follow God or not follow him. Yet this group is trying to superceed what God allows and force all into worshiping like they do.
@@dennisreed3382 No, it wasnt. It was enacted to give every American the right to practice their beliefs, privately, without the government hunting them down.
That is also why there is NO NATIONAL RELIGION....the government was designed to NOT force beliefs on anyone
You might not be religious today but all of the founders were in fact religious and highly pious. They never sought to ban religion from all public spaces. What they sought was mandatory official government neutrality. Athiests, Muslims, Hindus, and other Non Christians were not part of this important moment in history and as a result they really don't understand what it was actually about, yet all of them benefit from what was an action intended to benefit Christians.

Hey, Lauren, please explain how "I am the Lord thy God, Thou shalt have no other gods before me" is anything *but* religious indoctrination.
Only a fool doomed to hell would argue against their Creator.
@@the_right_moment well, we disagree on the creator part...and if there is a hell, thats where all the cool kids are
Calling it indoctrination is like saying a compass indoctrinates you to follow north. It's about finding the right direction in life.
@@openyoureyes909jones6 If hell is where the 'cool kids' are, I guess eternal suffering is the new trend. But seriously, the First Commandment is about recognizing the ultimate truth, not about being 'cool' or 'uncool.' 😎
It also says on the dollar bill "In God We Trust". Do you feel like you're indoctrinating religion whenever you spend your money?
The Ten Commandments are also in the Supreme Court and many other places within our federal and state governments.
Therefore, to try to divorce the United States from its Christian heritage is revisionist history.
Man once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes the helm from the hand of reason, and the mind becomes a wreck.
Thomas Jefferson
Christians should remember that separation of church & state is why THEY can worship peacefully too, since history is riddled with Holy Wars ✝️ between Christians of differing sub-sections (Ex.: Protestants vs Catholics!).
Btw:
"In God We Trust' has only been printed on officially circulated coins in the U.S. since 1864, and only made it onto printed bills in 1957.
How does that relate to following ten rules to live your life with?
Do you want to kill your neighbors? Cheat on your wife or husband?. Do you lie in court to put someone in prison because you hate them. Do you want to be treated the same way? Then you are the reason we have mass shooting.
"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe with blood for centuries."

One of the inherent difficulties with Christianity is that there are SO many variants, and sects, that anything which has the sense of cutting across all those lines, is perceived to be nonsecular, even when it is unique to Christians. That's how Christmas and Easter - both decidedly events of Christian importance, and ONLY Christian importance - are designated as "statutory" holidays that all are presumed to observe. It is therefore no great surprise that the upswell of Christian Nationalism is accompanied by a decline in women's rights, union-breaking, and anti-immigrant attitudes. Not that Christianity itself advocates any of that. Rather, all of these rather undesirable trends share the common thread of "My way is the only way that can be allowed to exist".
"You are giving me a scenario that cannot be specifically addressed without knowing more of the details." In other words, she has not taken the time to study any other religion but her own.

The proper opposition to this madness, is to teach the 20 days in Exodus. That book follows the twenty days, which are known globally, by chapter twice round.
Chapter 20 is Tzi, the 20th day, and it is the law of nature metaphorically. It is not a coincidence that chapter 20 is when this is brought up.
The 20 days are easily tracked, discerned, and taught. The book was never meant to be taken literally. 8 is frogs, 9 is hail and fire, and 10 is the Sun. Those are the twenty days, a score. it has nothing to do with religion and was intended to teach the cycles known globally and kept for many thousands of years.
