This album and The Statesmen Quartet Sings, which featured ‘Cat’ Freeman, and both from ‘58, I believe, were the first Statesmen albums my family bought (I was 5). Later, we got the very first one, recorded in 1957. And all three are here in Steve’s collection to enjoy. Amen, as Hovie used to say. And if the response was not enthusiastic enough for his liking, out came the white handkerchief and Hovie would would say: “Maybe I aught to preach a little bit.”
Enjoyed the original song , Move That Mountain by the Statesmen quartet, heard it first by the Dove Bothers quartet in the 1990s. I must say both quartets did a quality job on the song! Thanks for sharing!
I must correct my statement , the Kingdom Heirs did this song , not the Dove Brothers, though they did remakes of other Statesmen classics! Sorry did not want to mislead any readers! Thanks!
