You don't have to take the fan off. If you just unloosen the shroud and push it back ass far as it goes the radiator fits right out.
I just did it and wasted 3 hours and 70 bucks trying to get the tools and the fan off and didn't have to the whole time

Your comment saved me $70. I scoured through comments to see if you really needed to take it off and you don’t. “It’s not much, but it’s honest work.”

Might as well replace the radiator hoses while you have everything out, they aren’t very expensive.

It’s about a 50/50 shot at best that the trans cooler lines will pop out even with the special tool. Those lines were rusted up. Would have been best to replace those lines as well along with the radiator.

What tool is that you used to do the hose clamps

Anyone ever figure it out..? Looks like the same ones I've used to remove the inline fuel filter. Autozone sells them as plastic clips in a variety pack or a 2 sided clamp similar to the one he was holding in the vid. I believe its called a "line removal tool". May have several different names depending on where you live and how professional your local mechanics and/or auto repair clerks are. 😉

What kind of antifreeze should I use??

  • @MadMetalShop

This might be a dumb question but couldn't you just remove the fan shroud bolts.... not touch the fan.... leave the shroud in and slid the radiator out? Seems like it could be simpler.

My radiator was leaking fluid and had a hole near the top of my 2005 Ford F150. I took it in to have a new radiator replaced. The first day using it, I lost all transmission fluid to the point the truck would not go forward or backward, and trans fluid sprayed all over the engine compartment. Had it hauled to the trans shop yesterday for an inspection. The truck tripped the engine light. What possibly happened?

Some of the f150's the transmission oil cooler is inside of the radiator. So I'm guessing whoever replaced the radiator messed up one of the lines going to the transmission cooler or didn't properly connect them.
