Over 25 years ago, as an oboe student in Thomas Indermuhle's class, in Karlsruhe, Paul Dombrecht, a good friend of Thomas', was invited to give our oboe class a lesson each on various baroque sonatas of our own choice. Mr Dombrecht, I clearly remember, was a very good teacher and an all round nice guy. This recording of Vivaldi concertos shows just what a phenomenal player he is, too. I really love that brilliantly sparkling sound he makes, coupled with a formidable technique and musicianship. Bravo!

L'ensemble Il Fondamento est un orchestre belge spécialisé dans la musique baroque, fondé et dirigé par le hautboïste Paul Dombrecht et adepte de l'interprétation historiquement informée, soit l'interprétation sur instruments anciens (ou copies d'instruments anciens).
Historique
L'orchestre baroque Il Fondamento a été fondé en 1989 à l'initiative de Paul Dombrecht en regroupant des amis musiciens qui aimaient jouer de la musique ancienne sur instruments d'époque (« period instruments » en anglais).
Un des objectifs de l'ensemble Il Fondamento est de restituer la musique des xviiie et xixe siècles comme elle sonnait à l'époque[1en respectant le style original.
Depuis 1995, Il Fondamento a été officiellement reconnu comme « Ambassadeur culturel de la Flandre » par le ministère de la Communauté flamande[

La musique de Vivaldi semble en complète adéquation avec l'univers de Venise la brumeuse , Venise la rouge brique , la Venise modelée , façonnée par les vénitiens architectes , charpentiers et maçons , tel un rêve sur l'infinie lagune , tel une conquête sur une terre qui n'existe pas , seulement à l'état d'architecture de petites esplanades pour un bien mince recul , c'est pourquoi l'on aborde réellement Venise depuis la mer , sur gondoles ou sur bateaux . La musique de Vivaldi est autant miraculeuse que la cité des doges , elle surprend sans cesse l'auditeur par ses accents affirmés que par une ambiance parfois vaporeuse , les asiatiques diraient qu'il y a en elle l'équilibre du yin et du yang , oui , les concerto pour hautbois reflètent bien cette magie de l'équilibre des vertus viriles et vertus passives qui s'équilibrent à merveille dans cette musique qui élève l'âme doucement .....
