Finally a video that explains what I’m going through. I hate not being able to open up my hips especially at the gym when I see everyone else able to stretch during wide or cross leg warm ups/downs. Thanks for this video :)

This video made me cry. It's exactly what has happened to me. I have complicated PTSD, had breast cancer, and Grave's disease (4th time), pernicious anemia all brought about from intense stress and shock. 3 suicides my son and daughter first husband. 3 cancer deaths my husband, mother-in-law and niece. Domestic violence after all this from my youngest, my other son trying to cope with grief.
Now I am dealing with complicated PTSD and this painful problem neither of my hips will open at all, my left hip is worse than my right and I'm in constant pain. I feel like a hypochondriac because I'm alwats at the doctor and they can't find anything wrong with my hips. A few months ago when I had a pap smear it couldn't be done properly because I couldn't open my legs. I've been suffering now for over 4 years. I also suffer from hip pain on my left side from the top of my hip all the way throughout my buttock around into my groin and it also causes my hip to lock up the paIn often travels all the way down to my ankles and my knee swells up some days feellike it's twisted. My left foot also turns in now and when I try to turn it out it causes pain all the way up my leg through my knee and into my hip. My right side is starting to go the same way. I have been looking at videos to try to fix the problems because exrYs show there's nothing wrong except slight bursitis in my left hip burser.

I have had this for many years! Yes, it is stress. Dry needling almost killed me with pain!!!! Yes, Orthopedic acupuncture worked better, but like a massage it only lasted about 5 days. This destroyed my hip and I have put off a replacement with, meditation, somatic stretching, rollers, balls, and swimming. It's slowly unlocking and getting stronger! It got so bad it caused 1 year of crippling sciatic pain. Don't put it off, as it will only get worse and not one doctor will help you!

I am going through this now! It started when I was pregnant and now I am 4 months post partum and it is so bad, I live on pain killers. Struggling to get anyone to help or work out what it is. I have sciatica now which I didn’t have originally

Shani, has you had you hip xrayed? These are the symptoms I had when my hip needed replacing. I put it off for 8 years and just gave in back in March this year. If it's your hip, don't put it off. My recovery was much harder because I let it go too long and lived in pain for way too long. Wish ing you the best.

Thank you so much! I have moderate to severe scoliosis plus I sit 8-12 hours per day for my job. For the past few months, I’ve been having this same issue with my right hip. I have never been able to sit criss-cross comfortably! My knees won't go flat.. I'm going to try some stretches for the next few weeks & hope they help! My right side is definitely worse & I was a clencher My whole life, teeth, muscles (but, thigh, pelvic) U name it! I started the Gym 2mths ago, but I'm also 43 with new RA & fibromyalgia (15yrs)... I had a 2nd baby (both c-sections) at 40 & want to stay active as long as I can (kuz most days are soooo tough physically, I'm in tears 😭) I've done acupuncture, all types of physical therapies, tons of medications, shots, etc.... & no "cure" & My weight didn't matter fat or skinny.. 20yrs ago I was in boot camp & i had a bunch of car accidents (like 15 in 20yrs, not My fault either, just a magnet I guess 😢 the last 1 was the worst, hit head on by a 17yr old kid who just got His license😢 in 2016) I still have tinnitus & hearing loss from the airbag!

Great video! I’ve been searching the internet to find this precise problem and just now I found what I was looking for, I think. I’ve always been active and have done yoga with no problem at all. One day my right leg from my hip area or psoas started feeling weak and painful to walk. I was limping. Especially from a sitting down position to walking. I started doing glute exercises and it helped, but when I cross my leg I feel a tight pull to my knee (pelvis through inner thigh to knee). I found a bulge on my left lower back (hip/pelvic region) when I press on it I can cross my right knee freely. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I have struggled with this locking on one side. Will try these stretches, they do feel good. A very deep hip flexor/runner’s lunge kneeling stretch sometimes unlocks it as does a series of swings of that leg front to back as far as able. When locked, it’s very painful and there is no rom. I have had dry needling on my hip fkexor before to relieve pain which worked a treat but even with their examination of my hip nobody has said my nerves a blocked and needing can help it release. @@JimBostock there might be an explanation to this. I was practicing judo (green belt) more than a decade ago, when one day, after class, we did a stretching period where one of the poses was sitting criss-crossed. Many of the judokas could do it with ease, while some had a bit of trouble to get in the pose. Me, I couldn't even bring my knees below my ribcage. So, our judo teacher came to me and "helped" me get my knees at least at hip level, and then it happened: both of my legs got out of the hips sockets, and it was the worst pain I ever felt in my life. Got to the hospital, stayed there for an entire year in order to repair the muscles and tendons of my entire hips, then to re-educate myself to walk and sit with assistance. We didn't file a complaint at the judo teacher, but he was fired after that whole episode. Nowadays, I can walk fairly long distances (up to 8 miles per day), but I still sit with upper assistance (using a table or a wall to sit). Also, my doctors forbade me to ever move my legs sideways outside my body shape, otherwise the repairs already done would be broken and unhealable.

@janise01 there is zero possibility you will convince me that calling a female a female is offensive. I can't take anyone seriously who says something so silly.

@@KristaAlexander Based on your previous comment I didn't expect you'd have the intellectual capacity to comprehend why it's offensive to call women "females" and men "men" within the same context. Thank you for the confirmation though.

Please stop saying female cuz this has been going on for 13 years getting worse and I'm a man 27. It's horrible

Really good content but it would be good to hear you use the word woman instead if female. Woman is more personable.
