I was in the Navy from 2000-2008. I am an old school Navy sailor. I am an UNITED STATES NAVY VETERAN CS3 SW/AW. P-DAYS WAS SIMPLE, BATTLE STATIONS WAS A CHALLENGE, BUT BEING ON A 9 MONTH DEPLOYMENT WORKING FROM 0430 AM TO 2000 PM OR 2000 PM TO 1000 AM WAS ANNOYING AND I HAD MADE MY TIME IN THE NAVY WISELY.
TO ALL FUTURE SAILORS! 2 years ago I went through boot camp, Ship 10, Enterprise. Battlestations is a cake walk. Its more fun than anything else. the petty officers are bored to tears reading texts from the other petty officers on the ship on their PDA's and slacking. TO PREPARE FOR BATTLESTATIONS: Just stay awake. Honestly. You do get fatigued, and worn out, but its fun. Don't stress it! You really do get a sense of relief when you hear that cheesy song come on and you switch your cap. Hooyah!
Totally understand that folks that have been through this may not be impressed, but my oldest daughter just graduated Navy boot and I'm impressed and love all of you. My second daughter went through Beast Week in the Air Force and we were impressed with that too. We're pushing our third daughter to join the Space Force; we just keep telling her the push-up test will be a breeze😷👍
LOL We have a RDC who was a Boatswain Mate , every time we greeted him he'll say "good morning Clowns" he had a deep ass voice , it sounded just awfully right lol
After it we were back in the compartment. After we had breakfast. Our RDCs told us to put our heads down and listen for an earthquake. We all passed out till they woke us up about a hour later.
Lewis Regus' face brought back memories of euphoria for me from 43 years ago during graduating naval boot camp and the band struck up "Anchors Aweigh" . It was the first time I had ever completed a challenging task, up until then I felt like a failure in life with no purpose or reason, The United States Navy gave me honor and pride, from a boy into manhood, and I served 40 years United States Navy 31 of those years at sea.
I went through battlestations back in January of '04. I had strep throat so bad that I couldn't swallow my own spit, and had icicles hanging from my chin. I passed and was so pissed off at the battlestations breakfast because the only thing I was able to eat was frickin ice cream. I cried like a baby during the video/song at the hat ceremony.
Actually, it is illegal for a sailor to talk about battle stations to someone else who hasn't gone through it. First of all, we all sign page 13 saying we shall not discuss battle stations to anyone. Second, during our capping ceremony (right after battle stations) Captain Dye, commanding officer of recruit training command, told us to not discuss it to anyone (while swearing to him with our right hand up) because they want the future recruits to experience it without knowing what to expect
We had to work our tails off to get to that point, and I know for sure, when my RDC's gave me my NAVY cover I cried like a baby. I hate that they show just this, instead of the whole tale of boot camp. Then America would have an understanding for what we had to go through just to get there, and why America's NAVY stands the strongest in the world. Our NAVY is founded and based on pride for our country, and serving her with no questions asked, because we chose that life, and earned it.
Look up making a sailor, it’s about a 1 hour insider edition video on RTC Great Lakes, one of my RDCs let us watch it the last week of boot camp and it was just fun to laugh at the P-day recruits and look back at the past 10 weeks
@Sweded1991 yes he RUNS battlestations. He coordinates the technical aspect of it and makes sure everything is working correctly, and he organizes any changes made to it, how the other petty officers are supposed to train us, and make any improvements or adjustments to the building. the LCPO is probably in charge of the LPO who RUNS it.
This was the culmination of it all. I became a sailor after I did this, after WE did this. My shipmates helped me through, and I helped them. Keep your faith in your training, and each other, and any perspective sailor will have an easy time.
i ran both in the same week. it was like a week old when i graduated and our Sr. chief wanted to reward us by doing both of them.. this new one is alot easier
Man! I went through battle stations when it started at 1800, you had like 16 evolutions to do and had to run like a mile or so to each one. By around 1100 the next day you were done and had ran around 20 miles or so, not including the exhausting evolutions. That new battlestations is cake!
My Father Served on the USS Tripoli LPH-10 when it was hit by a mine. I'm glad the Navy Recruits are being trained for what my father had to go through when he was on the ship. although i'm 30 years old. I going to try and join the Navy sometime soon. I just don't know what job i would like to do yet.
@Simstein77 yeah i know. ive read many books regarding bootcamp. cant wait. im referring to battlestations itself. the stuff they do show you is only a tip of the iceberg while in for the 12 hours. there is no 3 minute video thats going to explain the 12 hour process.
The video produced by CNN with approval from the Navy, we had nothing to do with the story. The Navy obviously had their reasons for allowing them to do the story back in 2008 or 2009.
Battlestations was fun and all but i agree with some of the other people, we had to sign page 13's saying we are not aloud to talk about this, plus battlestations was a big mystery all through bootcamp, seeing the trayer for the first time me and my whole division was in shock and aww just staring at it, just my little input.
I just ran this from november 30th to dec 1st. All i can legally say is the day you finish this you WILL fall asleep alot throughout the day, or at least i did/
I didn’t cry during the capping because I cried all my tears out for like, 45 minutes during the night. I thought I failed battle stations at one point (but I didn’t) so I was very upset. Can’t talk specifics obviously but yeah.
This is crazy, when I was at bootcamp in 04, this was only talked about. We had to run all around RTC to do different things. I did things like the USS Buttercup when I got to the fleet, but nothing like this. I kind of want to go to bootcamp and check this out. :O
oh wow! HEY! I just came across this video for the first time today - It was cool to see it in operation…I just remember all of the back and forth we had about 'top secret stuff' and nobody gets to look beyond the 'elephant doors'…..All is good - Nice to see BS21 operating.
I'm having flashbacks of being on the Theodore Roosevelt back when I joined in 2000. God I miss it.the only thing I would do different is not got married &had kids bc that's why I got out.. I was not about to leave my son to go to a ship again
I would not mind going through this Disneyland of battle stations. I went through the old school battlestions where you had to run everywhere in boots all night. Now called Batlestations Legacy. Still seems like fun. Ohh and yea I can say that sitting on your knees sucks....
Hey Mitch, how's it going? As I've mentioned numerous times in this thread, the video was between CNN and the Navy, we had nothing to do with it. I'm sure CNN gets much better viewership than our TH-cam Channel and the Navy obviously had their reasons for allowing them to do the story back in 2008 or 2009. Hope you're doing well Mitch.
Times have changed, When I was USN we never spoke of anything like this our only statement was( I cannot Confirm or Deny _________) insert anything you where asked like Nuclear weapons,Training, ect.
I don't know about that... a lot of people go on roller coasters because they get a rush from being scared during the ride - even though the rides are safe.
lol u say this sucks? try doing the old battlestations that were before this one where u ran miles across base to get from place to place. and then right after since my division was the senrior and best division plus our sr chief thought we just had to be "rewarded" by having the chance to do the new one right after we got done with the old one .. i ran both the same week
@Powerdouble119 Were all on the same team guy, You can't be a super power without a strong Navy, I salute all brave Marines Semper Fidelis Always Faithful

well it's not meant to be harder or easier. it's meant to teach u exactly what to do in those situations so the incidents that happened in the past won't happen again.
@rocker619316 - i dont doubt you cried. I cry just watching motivational videos about my enlisting (Feb16, 2k11 ship date). I cant wait to experience this. AND im sure this is only a hair bit of the stuff they run you through. Am i right?
They Navy tried to kick me out for an injury that THEY neglected during my training. When American, The beautiful by Ray Charles played I lost it. Because I went through hell during boot camp with an injury.
@ideasorlando thank you for posting. plus the taxpayers are allowed to know what they are paying for. and parents love watching this video i know that much. keep up the nice work.
It's not top secret, but we all signed paperwork saying we would not discuss BS 21 with anyone outside the Navy. So, why did I have to swear not to disclose anything about this, when the Navy decided to let CNN just stroll around and film who knows what?
Wish TH-cam would have existed before I joined in 2005!😂 Battlestations was the best part of boot camp, if I was still in shape and could go back and do just that part, I probably would.👍 Div.113 Alpha company. hoo-rah!
When I went through in Dec. 2000 it was way harder than this. Man they have it easy now. Make it rain baby or how about hurricanes. Man I hated those we would come back from pt or chow and our racks, clothes, every thing would be outside in the court yard then they would beat us because of the mess. Yup the good old days. Hell we didn't even have hot water, Dec., Great lakes and no hot water.
+Chris Reninger the army has stress cards you dumbass. I was at RTC recently so I think I would know. There's nothing even remotely close to a stress card there.
Agree. This video should not exist. BS21 was designed and developed to be absolutely secret. A mystery to those who will never have the opportunity to experience it.
lol technically, is a deck not floor. Civilians,(sigh) this was fun night. The ball cap was one of the greatest day of my life. i been told i cant do it, i cant be in the military, that prove doubters wrong. contrary to the reporter, its not scary as hell" to re run it. its just doing the same thing but its more boring since you aiready know what to expect and plus you stay up for another night.
division 255 lets get it, the diamon division! aroc at your service!!!! pulled my whole division through it with only one fail!!! huuuurrrrrrraaahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much for that non-disclosure agreement we all signed.
Matt Dwyer I'm pretty sure theres probably more about it they havent shown. I ship next Wednesday and excited!
I take it back.
They literally showed almost everything I just experienced..
Jay Jay I thought the same thing. What was your graduation day? I was in DIV 061
Jay Jay this is hilarious

Remember that page 13 we all signed? Good times... good times.
Andrew W. Adams page 13 my ass

I did not even sleep in about a day and a half I remember that shit like it was yesterday

Battle stations wasn't stressful or hard it was staying awake for 36 hours and not falling asleep that was hard
Eric Diaz I agree! I fell asleep at chow making a PB&J, that’s when I knew it would be a rough day.
Robert Brooks I knocked the fuck out in the head that day luckily my rdcs didn’t walk the head
Man. I started hallucinating hardcore. Talking about Ronald mcDonald popping out of trees
That shit is weak. We had to run all over base all night for battle stations in 2006 and in a thunderstorm. Division 337.
I was making this little piggie jokes while in the battlestation to make sure i stayed awake

get a navy ball cap and pinkeye for staying up all night.
LOL We have a RDC who was a Boatswain Mate , every time we greeted him he'll say "good morning Clowns" he had a deep ass voice , it sounded just awfully right lol
Ahh you reminded me of mine. BMCS Velez, his favorite thing to call us was clowns haha

its just staying awake and dealing with pink eye the next mourning

Nah that's not all we go thru
I missed having to train on this thing by 2 years, I came in the navy in 2006 when they still did the run to every station and sang random songs lol
I heard my RDCs refer to it as "trick or treating"
we did that. I was just in battlestations a month ago
We had navy cadences for the passed 8 weeks and tried to sing them. We got yelled at and we’re told to sing anything else other than that lol
My sister has to do battle stations in a couple of days. I wish her and all recruits at great lakes the best of luck.
battle staions 21 was FUN! i went thru it almost 4 years ago! compared to what they use to do for battle stations i am so glad the Navy upgraded!
