Gorgeous machine! And thanks for the informative tour.

For anyone reading this who is wondering about what the machines used originally in that oil wick hole - they had a piece of wool felt cord in them. People still sell it either as short pieces for vintage sewing machine motors (where they are used as grease wicks) or by the foot/yard. The 3/16" diameter size (or something close to it) works best. Stuffing the oil wick hole with wool works just fine (use a needle felting tool and you'll turn it into a wool felt cord as you stuff the hole anyway) but if you want something a bit closer to the original the wool felt cords are ideal. I know one seller in the US (who unfortunately won't ship to NZ, where I am) sells it in minimum lengths of 5 feet - more than enough for most us to last a lifetime and still have some left over to share with our VSM friends. :-)

I had no idea there was a wick for oil in the bobbin area. Sure enough I have an empty hole with some remnants of felt in there. Thanks very much for showing this!

This is awesome. Your pace of delivery, your clarity and how you do each step is superb and a lesson to other people putting videos onto this platform. And the speed with which you responded to a request for a video about oiling the machine was appreciated. I now have confidence in going ahead and cleaning my machine and then getting sewing. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh and if this was one take.....wow you should be working in presenting somewhere! 😎

Haha, yes it was one take - I'm not a youtuber pro, it's just my little mobile phone.
If you watch my 201k Vlog playlist, you can see how I clean up a machine from a rust bucket to a beauty. I make one massive mistake with the 201k, which was to grease the bearings (which I was told is not necessary - oops).
Sorry about the little ringing/pinging in the video, I didn't know what that was and only noticed when I played the video back.
I wish you fun times of cleaning with your 128k, they really are beautiful and so satisfying to sew with.
(And then you buy more machines and end up with 20+ all lurking in corners of your home) 😁

@@sewythingy One take! I take my hat off to you. Such a fluent delivery and you went from A through Z without repeating yourself which so many people trip up on. I'll keep watching out for more content from your good self.

@@allthebennetts that's very kind of you. If you watch my other videos it's why there are so many bloopers. I haven't got the heart/energy to learn how to edit videos or buy fancy camera equipment, so it's just me, my phone and a lot of bloops 🤣
