I roll my front wheel onto a few sheets of 3/4” ply. If you stagger them a little it’s easy to roll up into them because it’s not much of a lip to get over. That gives my jack enough clearance by a hair.
It looks very similar to my Craftsman Motorcycle Jack that I've been using for over 17+ years now, I absolutely love it! There are some maintenance issues to consider after a few years of use, I have a few videos on my TH-cam Channel that talks about it. You did well Bud, you'll enjoy the benefits of that jack for years to come.
@@streetsean Thanks Bud, you got a "Subscribed" right back at ya! Just put a wooden block under the kickstand to stand the bike up a bit and the jack should slide right under plus it becomes a stabilized one man job 🙂
I own the Harbor Freight version and I do as you did, removing the seat and strapping the bike down . I saw a demo on another lift where the demo guy actually sits on the bike with it lifted and no safety strap. Not me ... I don't like bad surprises .
That is a better way and I've always gone the opposite side because of where I store it. But you've just made me think, it's on wheels, it wouldn't make a difference which side I was pushing or pulling it...hahaha. Thanks!
I have a motomaster jack I have had for over 10 yrs. Have put my GL1500 Goldwing on it every winter. My bike weighs 950 lbs. It stays on it all winter on 2nd or 3rd setting. Never strap it. Do all my maintenance on bike on it. Have taken tires off and on many times and all brake work and drive shaft etc on jack and it never moves. I put a sharpie mark under my bike exactly where I want the bike and I shake it and never moves. I do on and off jack by myself always. I put a piece of 2x4 under stand and jack will go right under no problem. Measure both sides for even and up we go. I make sure kick stand it out good and slowly bring it down. Have got used to how much pressure to put on peddle. They have obviously changed them a bit. Mine doesn't have the screw down locks. I can roll mine back and forth with wing on without a problem. Just my 2 cents. Oh wait we don't have pennies anymore in Canada. 5 cents worth. Good video.
Yeah, I tied it down the first time I put it away and that was it. Other than that I just Jack it up and leave it. Always on the 3rd just so I can push it closer to the wall. The ones I see at canadian tire are still the same as mine and that's 3 years ago. The screw down stoppers I only use if I'm wrenching, just so it doesn't move when I'm loosening a tough nut but don't use them for storage. Thanks!
I might maybe drill a couple holes in front side and try putting in something to sit on floor. With the swivel wheels on one end it will swivel a bit if I am tugging on bike. Gonna get bike down off jack soon then check over jack and check oil in cylinder. As I said try putting a piece of 2x4 under stand to roll jack under. They are a good jack tho. I have had it and used it a long time on a heavy bike.
@billdeller2029 Yeah, I have no complaints, and I see they're on sale this week $50 off. I bought a different one for my daughter's bike from princess auto and it's not as good. Casters are alright but it's not low enough for the Harley (fine for her Royal Enfield) and its a lever you twist to lower it, it's pretty hard to do with your foot. Will definitely get another one of these for my third bike...🤣
Really?!?! That's not good. Mine goes down at a good rate. I won't lie though, it did take a bit to get used to lowering and not being worried it was too fast.
Hi there! I have the same bike and the same lift system (brand new). When I push the black pedal the bike falls free, I was expecting something kindly/softly... thanks god the bike was about 4ich over the floor. Could you recommend me somethig about the black pedal? Maybe i put it wrong, or the lifter works like that, or it´s simply broken and I should claim for a new one...Thanks for sharing this video and greetings from Spain!
Hello! Mine goes down quickly but it is manageable. What I do, is make sure the kick stand is down and hold the front brake. Press the black pedal so it starts, I stop it and then press it again and it seems to go down at a reasonable speed. It took me a few times to get used to it and now it doesn't seem to be that quick. Good luck!
It lowers it pretty smoothly and I'd say it is slow..ish... meaning it is slow but when your 800lb bike is on it, it seems fast at times. I'm able to raise the bike with the kick stand down so it hasn't been an issue and I'm used to it now. As for pressing the pedal it's pretty much down or off, no variation.
I have the same jack. Just after it was a year old, I had issues with it not lifting, no matter how much I purged the air. It never leaked and the fluid was full. Very poor quality.
I'm going on my 3rd winter, and I haven't had any issues other than a little rust here and there. I may get a new one just to try something else, and they still sell this one
This video is intollerable to watch for any sort of how to on this lift. Thank you for 17 minutes Ill never get back. Also. How to lower the jack was not even covered.
@streetsean21 thank you. I was jacking and jacking but I had troubles getting pressure until finally it engaged the hydraulic enough to release the stopbrake.
I think when it's locked in the air for a lengthy time frame, the hydraulic leaks out a bit and that's why it might take a lot to pump it up. If I'm just working on the bike it works right away. If it's after I'm taking it out after the winter I have to pump it a lot.

That would work for sure. I'm able to get it under as long as it's standing straight and there's no compression on the springs.
Just used this vid to set up my new lift, thanks for the info!
Awesome! Thanks. Hopefully it works well for you as it has for me. I'm still using it
I just put a block of wood under the kickstand to get the bike under by myself. Been working good for me. Well done.
It's been over 3 years... you'd think I would have thought of that by now...🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much for doing this. I had to assemble it and I wasn’t sure about the lock mechanism… your video made it more clear for me. 🎉
Awesome!!! Thanks!!!
Just put a shim under your kick stand and that will give you the clearance you need to get the jack under the bike.
That's a great idea! Thanks!

Awesome! Subscribed and will check them out. I'm sure they all come from the same factory just in different boxes!

I hear that. I worry about dropping the bike for sure, that is a lot more costly than a couple of straps and the 5 minutes it takes to put them on!
2" wooden block under the kickstand and push the jack in from the left side to avoid damaging the exhaust.

Enjoy the nice weather in Spain! I'm jealous you're able to ride!!!
Thanks for the review, how does the jack lower your bike? Slow and smoothly? Does it matter how much you press on the lowering foot pedal?
It lowers it pretty smoothly and I'd say it is slow..ish... meaning it is slow but when your 800lb bike is on it, it seems fast at times. Thanks! This made my day!
Thank you this was helpful for the assembly I bought the same one the one I got had no instructions
Awesome, yeah I noticed it was on sale again here as well. It's a pretty solid lift.
What tools were required to assemble the lift ?
Just a socket set and a 6mm Allen key
Thanks@@streetsean
Hey Sean are you in a trade , if so what kind ?
No, I'm actually a stay at home dad. I did do a year and a half of college for Tool and die though. Are you in a trade?
@@streetsean Cool , I’m a retired elevator mechanic.
I have one of these and it is absolutely useless for my Vulcan 900. It isn't wide enough, only any good for dirt bike toy's!
It's just wide enough for the softail. The Vulcan must be quite a bit wider.
I have the same jack. Just after it was a year old, I had issues with it not lifting, no matter how much I purged the air. It never leaked and the fluid was full. Very poor quality.

Not wide enough for my Honda Shadow Spirit 750 either
I'm going to see if it works on my ultra this year but I'm going to guess it's too small for that bike.
This video is intollerable to watch for any sort of how to on this lift. Thank you for 17 minutes Ill never get back. Also. How to lower the jack was not even covered.
Sorry about that. There's a foot pedal that releases the hydraulic pressure that lowers the bike.
I found it very useful. Not sure why you’re having issues and being such a grump!
I got mine for 160 taxes in
All we can see is the floor lol!🤦
