Many times. Many many times. Tier 9/10 game play is a clusterf*ck of gold spam action. Armor means next to nothing. This game was MUCH better when it truly WAS gold ammo -- meaning you had to pay gold for it. In those days, you literally only saw 5% (at most) gold ammo slung your way. And typically only from the best players that were in clans that won lots of gold in CWs. Oh well. It certainly has tempered the enthusiasm of many a player...
The amount of gold that gets fired at me in my Japan heavies is fucking ridiculous, considering the fact that i have weak-points that are easily shootable on a large, slow moving target. It's even more enjoyable when someone fires their entire credit balance at me and i still bounce all the gold ammo.
Console actually just had some interesting stats come out about premium ammo for tier X. The total number of shots that were premium was 18%. Which seems about right.
I've taken a bunch of screen shots recently and can state with high confidence that if I play anything other than lights, over half the shots I've received are gold. Especially when I play a heavy tank or JagE100. I'd even guess it's true for the lights, but all the damn wheeled vehicles running around are firing HE.

Yep, they're giving us the percentage across all tiers, without any adjustment for all the low-tier autocannons. And even aside from that, there's the fact that low-tier players tend to have a lot less credits, so gold is less prevalent down there in general and not just for autocannon tanks. It's mostly the sealclubbers who use gold down there, and if they were the majority (meaning there were no longer seals to club), they'd stop doing it because it'd no longer boost their WR.
In my second ever game in the IS-M (only unlocked it yesterday), I managed to block 4,500 damage and take no damage in doing so, being the only heavy tank on a flank in a tier 9 game. Luckily I was backed up by 3 powerful tank destroyers to help kill all the higher tier T9 heavies that were bouncing off my stronk side armour #sidescrapingftw
Jingles, you absolutely correct. It's easy to reach for the 2 key....and hope. Most correct in stating that learning how play the game is of greater importance. I've had just over 250 wins now. But consider my average percentage of winning is around 38-39%. Yeah, I have a lot of practice needed. The seeds for your ideas are being listened to. Executing the lessons take much, much, much time to repeat, rinse and repeat again! Thank you!
I've long thought they should put a cap on how much gold ammunition you can take into a battle, make it a tool that you have to use with intent and thought. Removing it entirely would make bottom tier miserable but I think - as it's available for in game currency anyway - making it standard "Just different types of ammo" would work. Putting in different concepts of ammunition for different scenarios would add another layer of thought to the game that could make it more interesting and rewarding.
Shocking! Positively shocking! *looks at title of video* I must be dreaming. I’m just gonna sit back and enjoy this video with a martini. Shaken, not stirred. The enemy team will be playing their golden harp by the time the replay is over. Let’s hope nobody had pressing engagements to attend to or blow a fuse at losing. If only there was a Fort Knox map as opposed to just a bundle in the Premium Shop, then the title of the video would mean a lot more if the replay took place at Fort Knox.

"How to Lie with Statistics" - Darrell Huff, Irving Gells - 1954 (older than most of the Wargaming staff)
One thing to consider re: gold ammo %age: 'Replays sent to Jingles' are _not_ a random sample of games. People don't send in replays of average games; they send in replays of *exceptional* games. These videos almost always feature players who are particularly skilled and/or having very good games, _which are the kind of targets who you'd expect people to throw more gold than usual at._ That's not to say that I think the gold ammo %age at Tier 10 really is 5%, just that it's probably not nearly as high as you'd think from watching these videos.
Actually jingles, the 112’s lower plate was buffed to about 210mm of effective armor when angled, so only about 5 tanks on the enemy team could penetrate him from the front
No Jingles, he was waggling his turret to get a piece of the door off of his gun. Also, the 112 has one of the best lower glacis available at tier 8 with 140mm unangled. Its frontal armor is about on par with the Object 252U (or Defender) but its gun just can't compare. The salt mines, you say? Damnit.
thankyou for a funny entertaining vid made my day that much better after a sad chat made me feel great thanks jingles hope you have a great day and can't wait for more vids
Actually even head on the lower plate has already ~200mm of effective armor. The 112 got buffed several years ago (i think somewhere around the time they introduced the Patriot/Defender/Liberte) buffing its lower plate from 100mm to 140mm. So when you angle it perfectly you can get the lower plate to about 220-230mm while your side is still impenetrable.
My friend and I use to terrorize matches together. He would be in his 112 and I would be in my IS-6. We were pretty much always top 2, occasionally top 3 because of our individual skills in our tanks and also because we made a hell of a good team when it came to covering the other's weaknesses. I still honestly place them in their 112 as the scariest thing in any match that we were in.
The 112 is my favourite tank in the game. Its the only tank I have 3 marked and its super fun. The pref matchmaking make this a beast. Even the low pen is fine load the HE and make most problems disappear.
While I still don't buy the 5% figure, I can certainly vouch for the bit about low-tier autoloaders. A humorous anecdote for you: So I'm grinding my way up the tech tree, when I find myself cut off from my team - partly due to that flank collapsing, partly due to me being an inexperienced player who thought that little desert town would offer a nice sheltered vantage point to give support fire to my team. No friendlies on my side of the map, several enemy players mostly packing autocannons. So I start playing hide and seek to stall these guys out so they don't get around behind my teammates on the other side of the map. It's not until I start hearing the "dink" noises that i realize my tank's paper-thin armor is actually worth something for once. Angle up, fire back when I can, keep what's left of the buildings between me and the one guy with an actual gun. Of course I go down eventually, what with the autos occasionally hitting square enough to do damage and the town slowly getting flattened, but by then my team has managed to clean up the other side of the map. And that's how I earned my first-ever Steel Wall medal ... in an M3 of all things. No, I didn't think it was possible either, but there you go.

If WG is accounting all tiers for types of ammo shot then it could be correct since low tiers can spit out 100s of shells a battle while high tiers firing 30 shells is a lot for a battle
@@Vil3mos They did it on purpose. they track about every type of statistic there is in the game. Since they clearly gave the numbers across all tiers we all know they are also tracking individual tiers. they just dont want to show them

The fact that the 112's lower plate can be penetrated by almost anything is not true anymore. It was buffed two years ago. Now the lower plate is 140 mm thick which just for the perspective is the thickness of IS-4's upper plate.
5 % in total might sounds low but, as you said gingles, it´s from from all battles and all Tiers so the total amound of shot Gold is over 10.000 Bullets a Day in EACH Tier !!! Tier 1 + 2 might not that kind of many because the Bullets are nearly to expansive in there when you are not having a Premium account so it solves itselfs of why there are no that many Gold shots are fired in there I think.
The bottom plate of the 112 is effectively 200mm thick. Most of the tanks that throw gold at him didn't even have a penetration of nearly 200mm. The Bret Panther didn't even have 200mm of penetration with gold. The tanks that have more than 200mm pen like the ChurchillGC and the T28 Prot are shooting standard amunition. Ignoring the Emil :D But the thinking about the 5% is actually correct. I would say 20-25% of the shells fired at games T8 and higher are gold amunition. Especially after a frontline event.

The Emil1951 fires APCR for standard and premium rounds so maybe what you’re seeing is that. You did seem to mention it loads when the 1951 was shooting at him....
Let me correct you in one thing, lower tier DO shoot gold ammo, some weeks ago I did a match with a panzer II (tier II) it was a tier III match. ok no problem. All damage that i took was from a M3 stuart shooting APCR and a T-29(the russian premium tier III). shooting HEAT. I was astonished.
WoT console said that the average amount of premium ammunition fired per battle for tier 10 tanks on console is 18%. You can find the figure on the news page where they talk about the nerf to the Death Star
Jingles, I can send you a few Tier 1 to 3 Matches I played lately because after the Tech Tree changes I connected the broken Paths to my tanks. (I guess that's my OCD) You are invited to count the gold ammo shots from low caliber auto guns.
Kind of downplaying the fact he took our an emil, caernarvon, and a t28 prot all the same tier, all actually better than the tank he was playing, without taking any damage
I'd like to see them revise those numbers w/o counting Artillery, which, as I understand it, Almost never fires anything but HE. Matter of fact, take out HE as well, lets see what the percentage of Regular AP vs. "Premium" rounds are. (Regular AP would also include APCR if it comes as the standard ammo type as it does for some tanks). THEN I'd be more inclined to believe their numbers.
It's not artillery or HE skewing the numbers. It's all the autocannons on low tier tanks. They put out far more shots than anything else and not a whole lot of people down there are using much gold. That's mostly the seal clubbers and the handful of maniacs with a PzII-J.

In statistics, this (5% gold in this case) is called lie factor...so yeah
If WG is accounting all tiers for types of ammo shot then it could be correct since low tiers can spit out 100s of shells a battle while high tiers firing 30 shells is a lot for a battle
@@enclave406 I agree that the number is correct, but the fact they are making the statistics this way, is itself a lie factor, and a pretty big one
@@Vil3mos They did it on purpose. they track about every type of statistic there is in the game. Since they clearly gave the numbers across all tiers we all know they are also tracking individual tiers. they just dont want to show them
Shoutout to all the 2:30am jingles fans
4:30 am gang my guy
3:45am
1:45 am here
Yolo
6:45pm upside down gang
Me: sees the title and immediately has fond memories of the title song from the 1964 Bond film.
Also me: reads the description, "Recognise this one and you're really showing your age." God damnit..
"the data doesn't lie!"
"Bullshit, the data will say whatever you torture it into saying."
The fact that the 112's lower plate can be penetrated by almost anything is not true anymore. It was buffed two years ago. Now the lower plate is 140 mm thick which just for the perspective is the thickness of IS-4's upper plate.
Do I sense a finnish player ;)
No, he's not me!
The Bret Panther
didn't even have 200mm of penetration with gold. The tanks that have more than 200mm pen like the ChurchillGC and the T28 Prot are shooting standard amunition. Ignoring the Emil :D
But the thinking about the 5% is actually correct. I would say 20-25% of the shells fired at games T8 and higher are gold amunition. Especially after a frontline event.
C'mon, Jingles! It's been 6 years, you have grown up, finish Alien Isolation.
Goldfinger... jingles, do you expect me to talk?
Good game, well played... Way to USE your armour.
In WoT, everything is a tool to be learned & used to its full potential. That's how you succeed in WoT.
Hey wait a minute... I never gotted an ACE???
I want an ace too!
:(
hehe
Candie
Jingles you should check out Gunner Heat PC. It's a single player tank game being worked on by a small dev team. I mean like maybe 5 or 6 people. It looks really good and fun. It's only modern tanks though. No WW2 era tanks. It's still in alpha I believe. There is a channel here on TH-cam for it.
The Emil1951 fires APCR for standard and premium rounds so maybe what you’re seeing is that. You did seem to mention it loads when the 1951 was shooting at him....
The premium ammunition is still highlighted gold in the damage log. That's how you can tell the difference.
Martin Mcintosh - well you learn something new every day! Cheers chap
great game you show us all what skill can do!
Hieno peli Hermanni.
Gold ammo: there's three types of lies; lies, damn lies, and statistics
WoT console said that the average amount of premium ammunition fired per battle for tier 10 tanks on console is 18%. You can find the figure on the news page where they talk about the nerf to the Death Star
as always, replays with top tiers seal clubbing half stock tier 6s. Such a pro
forget the fact that he took on a caernarvon and an emil and still took 0 dmg. You aren't pointing everything out.
Planting seeds? Ain't nothing gunna grow in that much salt! :P
... he is a man with mildest touch .
It's 9 am Jingles!! Go to sleep
The sino soviet split was less about stalin and mao falling out and more about, yknow, stalin being dead.
Swear I read somewhere that percentage of premium round fired on world of tanks console was 18% of all round fired, which seems about right
Jingles, I can send you a few Tier 1 to 3 Matches I played lately because after the Tech Tree changes I connected the broken Paths to my tanks. (I guess that's my OCD) You are invited to count the gold ammo shots from low caliber auto guns.
A half truth, is deadlier than any lie.
*sees title*
*immediately suspects gold spam*
turns out i was right
4:16 also why you bully kv-2 =(
The 112 had its lower plate buffed jingles
they should add an additional statistic on the post-battle screen: non-penetrating hits received from premium ammo
Great match he had congrats.
love the 112. I think my damage blocked record in it is something like 9k lol
Wow, a top tier 8 in a -2 battle had a great game? That's really uncanny Jingles, how on earth did he manage.
Kind of downplaying the fact he took our an emil, caernarvon, and a t28 prot all the same tier, all actually better than the tank he was playing, without taking any damage
The GoldFinger title song is spectacular. Shirley Bassey ftw.
That was beautiful.
Finally some good fuckin world of tanks
They're probably not lying, but they are probably including all the ammo fired by autocannons and the low tier machine guns.
Actually, Jingles... Now the official number is 15% of gold ammo fired.
There are many weak jingles.
Only one mighty jingle.
The thing with the gold shells is, if you count the mg shells too it could be true...
Dear jingles
Would you consider doing blind fold gameplay on World of Warships with Rita telling you what to do? Like Flambass?
gold may not always be the alternative to skill, but in the case if fighting against a Japanese Heavy, it is.
