There is a small pizza shop in my town, they have a 1 star review from somebody that says something like "I dunno, I was never here but I was at the car wash across the street and I didn't like it" The car wash is in no way connected to the pizza shop. Like..wtf?
Pretty sure I was grabbing a slice at that time. I saw a dude at the car wash looking at me in the pizza shop. He made a disturbing face, shook his head and drove off.

Indeed. Fake reviews are the bane of anyone selling anything online or otherwise. I deleted my Yelp account years ago.
My issue with Yelp and some of the others is it’s only $1500 you’re out but that’s a hell of a lick for them for potential no return for you. How many suckers does that salesman need each month to make bank.

The real lede is yelp’s obvious conflict of interest. Hustling businesses for money to correct problems of yelp’s own creation is inherently unethical. Yelps credibility is completely tanked and they deserve to go out of business.

Ive dealt with annoying/fake reviews also it’s a major pain. All yelp review should be verified…. I think if someone wants to maintain anonymity I personally don’t mind it .

He is right. Bad reviews should not be anonymous and you should have to prove a bad review with evidence of the problem.

Love Yelp when going out to eat, always check the photos and reviews before I order and am always never disappointed. My family/friends who just toll the dice and order random dishes are usually disappointed.
I have to agree. People either go on there to complain , or it’s your competition, and unless you’re a habitual complainer your yelp reviews will not show up. 🤷🏼♂️

That’s where I disagree. I think all reviews should be completely anonymous. I give fully justified reviews, but then I get bullied for doing it. Reviews were anonymous I wouldn’t get bullied. Once I have enough money I’m gonna talk to a lawyer about these reviews and if I have a case, I’m gonna trigger someone into bullying me because I gave them a bad review.

Perhaps your first negative review was from someone who confused your company for Metro Cars, which services DTW. And there’s another rental company with a very similar name at DFW.
Maybe the name you chose is not distinctive enough to differentiate you from other rental companies that have “metro” in the name. Your logic at 2:07 has the downside that people might confuse your company for similar ones, especially if they’re the type of people who go to Yelp for information.
