man MCIS and Adore had some of the best b-sides. that whole MCIS era could have been released as like a 10 disc set together and it would have still been a tremendous record. Also for stuff to add in, this band has a BUNCH of b-sides from the 90s that weren't on Pisces Iscariot (mostly from Mellon Collie sessions) that are amazing as well. The Aeroplane Flies High, God, Mouths of Babes, being high on the list for me. I feel like there's a 90s/00s indie rock revival going on in metal via the blackgaze and postmetal movements. It's fascinating because much of it sounds like the edgier, more obscure indie stuff from back in the day. WEEN, MEDICINE, FUDGETUNNEL, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, DINOSAUR JR, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, FISHBONE, L7, BIKINI KILL(& many many others) all taking on new relevance as metal influences. Sadly, still no one seems to care about MORPHINE.

I'm still waiting for a Zeitgeist remix and deluxe reissue. I'm baffled as to why it hasn't happened yet. That one has been begging for a better mix and master from basically the week after release. Even a remaster (to undo the Loudness Wars mastering) would be welcome. Plus I've wanted it on vinyl forever. Is it the strongest SP album? Nope. But at times it's killer and I really think they did wrong by it with the original mix and master.

I was always out there pounding the pavement for this band lol. i still consider them oddly underrated, even though they have had multiple platinum records and a vast fan base. the coolest thing about the Pumpkins in the 90's was i knew punks, preps, skaters, stoners, jocks, goths, and metal heads who all loved The Pumpkins. and anytime you would see someone in a Smashing Pumpkins shirt, you were friends immediately lol good stuff!

Corgan's voice which has pretty much lost all nuance since "Zeitgeist" is still too high in the mix. I miss the quit parts he once employed in the glory days. Now it's just in your face nasal abrasive and when he goes softer it's boring - and again without nuance.

Atum though… I mean it has some great songs, and you mentioned several. With Ado I Do is maybe one of my favourite pumpkin songs overall… but there were just so many songs I couldn’t get into. Took a break yesterday from listening to nothing but Spiritbox all of 2024 since I credit their music saving my life this year, they took me out of the darkest time of my entire life and are now my favorite band ever! Anyway, listened to the new Pumpkins and I'm loving it, but the song War Dreams of Itself was eating at me about what that riff reminds me of and it turns out to be from the latest Chevelle album NIRATIAS, (Absolutely love the album start to finish all bangers) guitar tone and actual riff reminds me of that album plus especially the song Self Destructor so curious if you hear that, thanks!✌️

Labeling someone as a fanboy just because of their opinions is a strange thing to do. "Best 3 albums"...to you, my guy. This comment has a lot of main character syndrome in it. I wouldn't even call myself a "Smashing Pumpkins FAN" these days... not since 2004 or so. Doesn't mean I can't still find things to enjoy in the later material.

The Zeitgeist era B-Sides (American Gothic) and Stellar are S-Tier. It's a shame they didn't make it to the full release album.

Similar to Tremches’ experience with that album, I was (18-ish) when it was coming out and psyched for a new SP album- while I didn’t hate it, I was pretty much stuck with a sobering reality of the long-awaited album being a mostly “just okay” release with a couple of a little bit better tracks.

My problem with ATUM is it should have been cut down to 10 or 12 songs. It's one of those albums where I really enjoyed many of the songs. Unfortunately, half the album was filled with garbage songs that wasted my time. And some of the intros ruined what otherwise would have been a great tune. A good example is the song INTERGALACTIC. The first 3+ minutes are garbage. Nobody mentions Beyond the Vale. I thought it was enjoyable and the guitars reminded me a bit of Queen.

Appreciate others opinion of course. I do not however understand how anyone could place Atum as anything but meh. There may be 3 songs on that record that i feel have potential and could yes indeed have fit well on some of the classic albums but man Cyr and Atum are just terrible to me. Aghori Mhori Mei blew my mind in the sense that Billy wasnt messin around about trying to get back to the roots yet moving forward simultaniously. That entire record is a banger and i didnt expect it.
