Welcome back to Casually Competitive MTG! We are a group of friends who enjoy playing fast paced semi competitive EDH games. In today’s game we have a matchup between Elsha of the Infinite Top Combo; Najeela of the Blade Blossom; Brago, King Eternal Stax; and The Gitrog Monster Dredge Combo. As long as you can trim down each game to be about 15-20 minutes (or shorter if there’s quick games) I doubt anyone would mind at all!

I was too busy staring death in the face to notice my creatures were destroyed. We will be more on top of things like that in the future!

Superb deck choices, nice commander matchups as the first time. I think that this lenght is perfect. 30 minutes for two games allows you to see better how the decks work. The video editing is perfect, no waste of time!

I'm always a big fan of going all-in early and praying for the best, I respect the elsha game 1 plays

@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG Don't worry about beating yourself up about these things though! Magic cards are notoriously tough to pronounce consistently (especially when there are so many played in EDH), and SaffronOlive/Seth has shown that pronunciation isn't near importance... lol
Also uRborg rather than Uborg. But these are small things for my own neurosis. The video was frickin great!

It was a risk I felt like I had to take and I definitely would have won that turn. The worst part of it is I had to relive that moment so many times while editing this video...

in a way it was a good thing you lost to pact cause if you had won, game would have been waaay shorter with no time to showcase the other decks (which is always nice to see).
I'd love to see more stax there and see how the rest handle it.

While recording my plan was to just end the game early and try to record another one, but I guess that mental misstep had other plans.
And don't worry, Brago will be back to showcase how staxxy he can be. We also have a few other stax based decks planned for the near future so stay tuned!
I was fired up to tune a couple of my decks today after watching your first video last night. Got some coffee then found this double header. What a great way to start the day.

Closing Thoughts on this vid are on point. I love the "unintended consequences" look at how cards may have effected the game "negatively" even if hey seemed right at the time. Hope to see more insights like this. These videos are amazing quality so far, so please keep doing great work like this!
Yeah I wanted to make sure it was clear that the Strip Mine wasn't really the wrong play at the time. Najeela had, what seemed like, plenty of mana for anything so 1 less land would affect that player less than 1 less land for Brago. Glad it came across well. Thanks for the feedback!
As CEDH fan myself i rly appreciate you making CEDH approachable for new players and showing that you dont need a full set of dual lands and timetwister to compete :). Love the double header, great plays, keep it up

I like that you break down the strategy of every deck in the beginning.
I've only now found your channel (shame on me), but man, what an insane start to game 1. That's the most I've seen a fish do in 2 turns ever. 6 cards AND getting out 4 mana out of a deck that played a turn 1 Najeela and was insanely ahead already - wow. What a card. What a card.
I like the longer games. It's not like I'm forced to watch all of them, nor I'm forced to watch all of them in 1 go. I like that there is more to watch if I choose to do so. Thanks for the content. I really like it. Currently my 2nd favourite YT channel (for me as being a beginner) after Command Zone. :)
Great video! One thing to note, when Rest in Peace is destroyed by Abrupt Decay, Rest in Peace goes to exile and Abrupt Decay goes to the graveyard.
I love the closing thoughts narrative. It adds nice closure to each game and offers up some advice to new players.
Adam is my kinda guy. Granted I played Bruna Stax in my meta :P
I'm also a big fan of deck techs. Going over why you put certain cards in over normal ones and all the various lines you can go through. I'm a very indepth person when it comes to deck building so I like to hear all about it.
Great video, thank you. I look forward to more content. One minor tip: The "ei" in "sensei" is pronounced like the "ey" in "hey." (and not like the word "eye").
Dude is just going to roll his eyes and blame it on being a foreign word (or some other excuse if it's not foreign) and not bother to correct it. Literally every time I see someone correct a TH-camr on any pronunciation mistake, foreign or not.

The Abrupt Decay on the Rest In Peace in Game 2 shouldn't be exiled.
Whereas Rest in Peace should be, since the last thing it does when it dies is exile itself.
Loving the gameplay! I'd love to see Niv-Mizzet Parun or Tuvasa Voltron next time. Keep up the awesome videos!
We have a few pods planned ahead so neither of these will be in the next video unfortunately, but both of these commanders are most certainly on our radar and each should be featured in a game in the near future
Saw this in my recommended and thought it looked interesting. I was completely shocked this is a new channel. You guys are now my favorite cedh channel on TH-cam. I love the general vibe and how well the interactions are explained. Also, the aesthetics are super cool. Keep it up, you’re doing amazing.

Love the double-header. Really clunky finish for Elsha, though. I much prefer Chandra's Ignition or Aetherflux Reservoir as wincons. Fairly easy to do with Force, Pact, and Foil in hand. Lotus Petal, Chrome Mox, or Simian Spirit Guide provides the red mana.
And I literally just watched the first one... Nice!
Loved both games, especially the mental misstep saving the day! Just for future reference though RIP sees itself get destroyed and exiles itself when it leaves the battlefield

I caught this too. Here's the gatherer's exact ruling on it: "If Rest in Peace is destroyed by a spell, Rest in Peace will be exiled and then the spell will be put into its owner’s graveyard."

Apologies I couldn't bring more of a staxy controlling brago game like promised. Sadly I hit a very bad string of mulligans both games and couldn't keep up with any of the other decks at the table.

Reading is hard sometimes
I usually can't tolerate too much of EDH content because of the chitchat among players making it take a long time. Eliminating that, and going straight to the gameplay makes this perfect for me. Note: I'm not saying chitchat is bad in the actual game. Like, making reference to "staring Gitrog and playing Rest in Peace" is hilarious and what I want to hear. I just don't want to, as a viewer, slog through a discussion about what snacks are available for a turn.
Pleasantly surprised, I am subscribed. I love seeing these powerful decks in action and getting to see them play out without having to build them myself. I don't know what constructive criticism I could provide, as everything seemed focused and achieves the goal. I went and watched the first video. Please make double-headers when possible.

I totally agree with your assessment of Strip Mine play as a "detriment", or even misplay of threat assessment. Unless Nate felt that he could have taken down Jordan by himself...

Gitrog seems to be a really fun commander. I am 100% going to build it. I like the idea of drawing lots of cards with lands hitting the graveyard

just one suggestion: remove the part between the preview card in the middle and the frame by either increasing the size of the card or reduzing the size of the frame. i would prefer the first. especially when watching on mobile phones its hard to read the cards you dont know.

Interesting, I commented on the other video about the HUD being a little too big, but I think it was just a question of getting used to.
Also, I like very much that you say what each deck is built around. It creates a good spectation of what will come forth.
The HUD was scaled down quite a bit for this video compared to the first and I will most likely continue to adjust it over the next few videos until it's at a place that I'm completely happy with. I love the feel of the HUD and don't want to take away from the design, but I also don't want it to be too intrusive so it may go through a few more slight changes before it's finalized

I really like your channel and approach to presenting your gameplay, its also stylish. The videos are nice & easy to follow and the short explanation helps understanding the strategy. I would like to see a non doomsday Zur, the Entchanter "the fair" esper trickery ;-), an Akiri Line-Slinger & Bruse Tarl Equipment-themed deck, everyone´s favorite Boy Mono-B suicide Krrik and a Damia, Stone Sage deck.
