+Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops I should've mentioned this but totally forgot! I do touch up tattoos if need be before a show. I do a terrible job on tattoos though....it's mostly the ink's fault! I need to get some India ink for the tattooer. It works way better than the ink the KBTatt comes with, and with India Ink you don't need to do touch ups!

Just watching, as this is my first show, do the judges, or 4-H rulebook want the rabbits in a wire carrier or is any carrier fine? I usually use a cat carrier as its really the only thing I have right now. Thanks in advance!
+Lps Trinity the carrier doesn't matter although wire carriers are easier to clean, carry more rabbits, etc. The cat carrier might make your rabbit dirty.
how do you help a rabbit lose weight? I've tried a diet, but my holland lop is still 4 pounds 5 ounces and I need her to be under 4 pounds. any advice would be great!
+Taylor Cotton Your rabbit is most likely a false dwarf, which means it won't get below 4lbs. Some Hollands are big genetically, and the only thing you will do by putting them on a diet is make them skinny, they won't lose a ton of weight but will lose condition. I can tell you care for your rabbits but pls don't use wire bottomed ages since they can cause sores:( also I'm not sure if they're kept outside or not but if they are that's really not the best place for rabbits to be kept since they can die from shock even if a predator can't get into the cage!
I've been feeding flaxseeds for four years now. They are safe and a lot of angora rabbit breeders suggest them because its good for their coat. I even feed to five week old kits and they have never had any problem with it. I was inspired after i read this post by a breeder a long time ago who said they really improved the condition of her rabbits. rabbittalk.com/flax-seed-the-results-t10546.html
+Madelynn M BOSS (black oil sunflower seeds), keep the coat shiny and smooth, and the sunflower seeds plus oats help skinny or small rabbits gain the weight they need.
lol my 4-H rabbit leader does exactly what you do to get her rabbits ready for a show :) she breeds silver martins, Californias, Rexs, and New Zealands. She has 106 rabbits in all :)
+Wolfy-Kat most are. But not black oil sunflower seeds in moderation. If you give them a feed with seeds in it, they often will pick the seeds out and eat those because they taste so good and leave the healthy stuff. So you can only feed BOSS in moderation.

I am so glad you pointed out cleaning the carrier. I hate seeing cages at the show that haven't been cleaned for a while yuck!

Can you just bring a normal small dog carrier to a show if your showing one rabbit? I really want to try showing with my holland soon
+Lily Bunns yes you can, but it's best to bring something with wire so the poop and pee fall through and it doesn't get he rabbit all messy.
What size are your carrier holes? I'm looking into making my own.

My rabbits ignore sunflower seeds but they go nuts over linseeds.
