Xbox cloud gaming services acts as an Xbox. The Quest 3 is more like a portable TV and wireless controller bridge to Xbox cloud gaming. No you don't need to connect or an Xbox, you just need an Xbox ultimate account to get access to Xbox cloud gaming.
It's just a virtual 2D screen . Probably handy if you are travelling and your destination has good WiFi. The Quest acts as a portable monitor, headphones and Xbox. You still need to pack a controller though 🎮
It seems to vary depending on the volume of users at the time. When I tried during peak hours yesterday I had to queue to get access to some games and it looked very muddy, like the video feed was being throttled at source (since my broadband is overkill for it - 1Gbps up and down). Then a few hoours later it looked a lot better and there was no queueing at all. I also found Halo looked much better than Battelfied 4 for some reason.
They have a deal going now for 1$ a month so the servers are going to be at very high load. I imagine it will smooth out next month, maybe not because of Christmas but we'll see.
Can you play your existing (purchased) Xbox games or only what's available on Gamepass?
Only what is on Gamepass and listed on Cloud Gaming.
Do you need to connect the xbox to the vr to play or the vr acts as an xbox

Sooo… you play with headset but the controls. Aren’t synchronised in a way that you can look around within the game?
