Love the overflow! Blue handle "CHANNEL LOCK" pliers. That is the tool of choice by the Pros that use them everyday. I have used the pliers in the video. Frustrating ease of use. Just a pros thoughts Much Love....COOP.
Nice and Quiet just the way we like it.😎😎😎 I would how ever suggest getting your self a pare of pvc pipe cutters they are faster and no messy burrs to clean up when your are done. 100% worth the money.
Thank You, I actually have some pvc cutters, I do want some of the ratcheting kind. Those are pretty nice. I will pick some up, thank you very much! HAve a good one!
Looking good!!! I did a bean animal drain so impressed with the, results I have it on a 125 have the pump on full throttle 1500 gph idk with head height 1300 gallons aboutish..tank sits in living room so quiet was the goal !! Keep up videos I enjoy watching
Thanks Jason, A lot of people do the Bean. I think its what works for everyone, and It can be a little confusing for new reefers. So I wanted to show everyone my quick solution. Thanks for tuning in Jason! Hope you have a good one!
915Mang Hi Mike, so with a bulkheads, I hand tighten them then did 1/4 turn with a wrench. I wiggled them around then did another 8th turn, so far so good but I have yet to put water in the tank. I'd like to show you my setup so far but i'm not on Instagram.
Awesome Paul, Did you put some RODI water in the overflow? Id do that before I actually fill the tank up with water. My email is 915mang@gmail if you want to send some pics.
Question 2ALL ... please. Anyone with this style smooth shiny acrylic overflow box in tank.. does it allow rooted algae growth on it? My 90gal megaflow is matte and the texture allowed briopsis to root all over.. can scrape but tough because the corners are rounded & it still wont kill the roots in the pores unless I drain and peroxide scrub. Not an option. I was thinking of making this exact type overflow box that JUST fits inside mine ... save lil space and squared off smooth acrylic hopefully keeps rooted algae off & easier to clean.
I've been screwing around with a test tank for a year and I've got perfect silence too... but I've got a PVC DIY overflow. Surprising what I found regarding flow rate limits of various duro overflows. if you wanna see the screwing around, search on my name. I was really surprised at how loud one can be! But also surprised how, if you screw around with it, you'll get things figured out. Nice vid. Thanks mang
I have the same tank overflow set up from sc aquarium and the sleep is making me NUTS! I couldn’t find a way to fit the drain into the overflow box 🤷🏻♂️
I need to do this I am just so nervous about disconnected the plumbing while the tank is stocked. I had struggles the first time getting a good seal on bulkhead
Did you have any flow issues with only using the 1 inch piping for the durso? I am contemplating doing the same thing for a 180g freshwater sump and I'm wondering if the flow is going to suffer if the pump is running ~1000gph
Stealth Bobber Mine is quite but the proper durso size should be 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 I cant remember look at the video again I show the proper size. I stuck with 1” because I glued everything. Also don’t glue your durso just dry fit it. As far as flow I use the power heads.
I was running something totally unique but it didn’t have an emergency drain so it broke siphon one day and shorted a bunch of stuff in my sump so i just disconnected the sump completely...
Same I can only hear my pumps. But its funny, if we hear anything we know something is wrong. My ATO was running and running on my 180g, I ran to my tank. My hose was leaking on the floor. SO quiet is Good!
You actually don't have a siphon at all. Drilling a hole in the Durso and putting the emergency drain at the same level as the Durso prevents a siphon. Otherwise, looks great!
Dude, get rid of the jig saw and invest in a pvc pipe cutter for less than $20 bucks at any home depot. You will get clean cuts. All you're doing with the saw is melting and tearing the pipe giving you those terrible cuts. You will thank me!
Your herbie flow setting totally wrong... Try setting water draining into emergency flow... Then 1st pipe overflow can be silent with no bubble there... Also no goggling... Happy reefing... 👏🏼😁
@@915Mang before u change durso... Ur setup herbie write... See starting video... Sokey, just now u use dorsa write... Nvrmind... Happy reefing mate... 🤗

Hey Blue, Thank You. Its pretty simple the way I did it. Have a Good Safe one!

Thanks for the video. Picked uo a 75 gallon deep blue with no plumbing. Very helpful!!!!
Glad I could help! Congratulations on the new tank!

I'm fresh water and love the dorso on my 150. Thanks for posting.
Steve threw the Durso fitting in with my shipment!
Thats Great Paul, Did you have any issues with the bulkheads that came with the tank

Good video Mike. As you know I did the Herbie style drain and it is working OKay too. Have a great 4th!
Thank You Tim for the Plumbing! Have a good one Tim!

Hi very nice video mate 👍
Hey Sylvester, Thank You. Im glad it works, quick easy fix!
I need to do this I am just so nervous about disconnected the plumbing while the tank is stocked. I had struggles the first time getting a good seal on bulkhead
Slything Well you don’t need to take the bulk heads off. You’re not going to glue the drains to the bulk heads
@@915Mang unfortunately I glued the top drains as well in the return. I realize now how dumb that is as its all draining through the bulkhead.
Nice work Mang
Scott From Rosco's Reef nice i just use a filter foam side ways in between the tube and it silence it
Thank You Scott, have a good one today!
That works too!
915Mang you too and happy 4th of July to you and your family
Thanks Scott!

Great information love you reefs
Have a good one Jonathan, Thanks for tuning in and checking it out! Its nice and quiet now.
Your main drain should be 6” lower than your emergency drain, then just let it trickle over the emergency tube.
This works for me
Is that elbow really necessary? Or it’s enough with just the T ? Thanks
Its necessary to create a full siphon otherwise the siphon will break. Thats why you drill a small hole on top
Happy 4th🎉🎉
Have a good one!
I was running something totally unique but it didn’t have an emergency drain so it broke siphon one day and shorted a bunch of stuff in my sump so i just disconnected the sump completely...
Hey Aquavert, that sucks. HOB Equipment is okay too. I have a HOB SKimmer that Im going to be using on a different tank
Good video!
Im using the Bean Animal, love it.
1 full siphon, 1 slow running drain + the emergency. Dead quiet, if only my Gyres would be as silent...
Same I can only hear my pumps. But its funny, if we hear anything we know something is wrong. My ATO was running and running on my 180g, I ran to my tank. My hose was leaking on the floor. SO quiet is Good!
Isnt it wonderful? The slightest gurgle or splash sends me into full on Red Alert-mode haha
Nice!
Thank You Paul! Have a good one Today!
915Mang Back at you Bro. I was hoping to receive a shipping notice from SCA but didn't. Your videos are very informative.
Thanks Paul, Email Them to see whats going on. Probably the Holiday.
915Mang Yeah, I'll see what happens tomorrow. We BBQing today?
915Mang Mike, as far as light mounting, how deep is the lip on the back top of the tank? Would I be able to mount a bracket there?
I'm running Herbie and it's dead silent.
Tony's reef keeping Awesome Tony! I love a quiet tank, have a good one

Yeah i got 3 of the pvc cutters now, lol. so much easier, they work great
Pvc cutter is much better and faster than a jigsaw
Finally got one
Those are channel locks not slip plyers
I’m like u , but new stuff then redo it to make it better!
Yeah T, It was quiet when I first set it up. But then the noise got on my nerves. Im glad it was an easy fix. Happy 4th
