if i remember properly, unlike other revolver-type weapons, this one has a spring loaded ammo cylinder, and it is stopped by a ratchet. every time you fire the gun, the gases push up on the gas plunger, raising the ratchet, thus allowing the cylinder to rotate. that's why firing the last shot doesn't perfectly align a chamber with the barrel as the cylinder spring has already lost resistance.
Yeah it's just a big cartridge with a grenade as a projectile, it can also shoot a variety of other rounds like flares, smoke grenades, 40mm shot shells ect.

so it uses gunpowder but instead of a bullet it has a grenade? if so awesome

There’s one thing I can’t find, I don’t know if the ammunition has obturation rings, and how the cannon achieves a relatively tight seal
I'm not sure, there might just be gas leakage similar to most revolvers.
