Jesus Christ. The director's he's worked with reads like a Hall of Fame of Film Busts: Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, Sam Raimi, Lars Von Trier, Oliver Stone, Alan Parker, Kathryn Bigelow and William Friedkin.
I'd love to see Guillermo del Toro interviewed like this. He's absolutely my favorite director, and always has insightful things to say, even on movies where you wouldn't think he would.
That's part of the humor that he was talking about.Or where he basically tells his son Harry to screw Mary Jane and then dump her(within earshot of Mary Jane). You could see he was having a lot of fun as Norman Osborne/The Green Goblin and he was able to go over-the-top with the part and it still worked! There's no such thing as overacting when you're playing The Green Goblin.
Mathilde Ingemann He hates dull interviews and questions which is actually understandable. An interviewer should know a bit basic stuff about the person they’re talking too and it’s well known that Waltz for example hates being asked to “describe his character” because he holds the view that you yourself have to make your mind up about it and not take what he says for granted. So when he gets asked that question almost every single time he gives interviews of course you’d get fed up a bit 🤷🏻♀️ But there are actually quite a few very good interviews with him where you truly see him enjoying himself because the questions are provoking and interesting. He’s actually a really chatty and interesting person when you show actual interest.
I had absolutely no idea William Dafoe was such an eloquent speaker! Not just that alone, he’s grounded in general, and so modest with each one of his roles in entertainment. In an understated way he’s very animated.
It would’ve been a dream come true to see Hugo Weaving and Willem Dafoe make a movie together with a scene that’s just the two of them laughing maniacally at each other.
I loved him in American Psycho as well, the way it sort of brought us into Bateman mind as his character was so hard to read, you didn't know what he knew, you were inferring and imagining no where near to the way Bateman was hallucinating but to start imagining in the way he does.
Defoe is a one in a million actor. There just aren’t that many that have the presence and talent he has. One of those actors I will go see a movie just to see his performance. My first exposure to Willem was Streets of Fire. To this day I love this film and love the soundtrack!
I can’t shake this feeling that he is the most legitimately genuine human being in Hollywood. As an actor he seems like he can honestly flip the switch without residual insanity unlike many other actors.

Lmao, I'm really not used to seeing him be a good guy. Immediately distrusted him in Aquaman, talk about bias. lol
He was the best part of Death Note IMO. Everything this guy does automatically becomes my favorite part of the movie
Jesus Christ. The director's he's worked with reads like a Hall of Fame of Film Busts: Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, Sam Raimi, Lars Von Trier, Oliver Stone, Alan Parker, Kathryn Bigelow and William Friedkin.
Yet he looks down to the earth and underrated in my opinion.
He’s know as one of the most intelligent, hard working, and low-maintenance actors in the business.
Game recognizes game.
don't forget Walter Hill and Tony Scott.
I want to like this 100 times. @@christianlynch1424
He's one of those actors that just seems downright genuine. Plus he's got one of those unforgettable voices.
They should do this with directors, would love to hear their input
Edit. Wow guys thanks for all the replies
Alexandros Moraitis yes yes yes yes yes
Tarantino please
@@Joshua-dd8fx my first choice exactly lol, next would be scorsese
I'd love to see Guillermo del Toro interviewed like this. He's absolutely my favorite director, and always has insightful things to say, even on movies where you wouldn't think he would.
OMG YESSSSS
When aunt may smacks his hand I could have sworn as a kid he was going to knife her right there in front of everyone
He probably thought about it lol.
I love the phrasing of 'knifing' someone. You don't hear it said too often but it cracks me up every time.
Cuh Shark lets make it a thing lol
He liked sucking his fingers Off to her slowly
That's part of the humor that he was talking about.Or where he basically tells his son Harry to screw Mary Jane and then dump her(within earshot of Mary Jane). You could see he was having a lot of fun as Norman Osborne/The Green Goblin and he was able to go over-the-top with the part and it still worked!
There's no such thing as overacting when you're playing The Green Goblin.
I just love Willem's face and voice for some reason
He has a very unique voice and face.
His face looks just like jokers. The bones structure...
I did some research and still shock at the fact , that THIS MAN HAS NOT WON A OSCAR YET!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!
After watching this video i realized im something of a scientist myself
Shut up
@@trod146 You wouldn't be saying that if you had realized that your something of a scientist yourself.
I see what u did there ;)
I read all your research on nanotechnology. Really brilliant.
@Garret PhegleyYOU WHAT???!!
Please invite Christoph Waltz sometime, I’d love to see him in this.
I sadly dont think he would do it. He always seems to hate interviews and everything that follows.
So when he gets asked that question almost every single time he gives interviews of course you’d get fed up a bit 🤷🏻♀️
But there are actually quite a few very good interviews with him where you truly see him enjoying himself because the questions are provoking and interesting.
He’s actually a really chatty and interesting person when you show actual interest.
Mathilde Ingemann Also sorry for that novel of an answer lol
@@babushkalol agree.
He basically plays the same character in every film. At least Willem has range.
Give him an Oscar already, you cowards!
Oscars are rigged since Miramax/Weinstein actively campaigned for them and thus changed/rigged the game forever
He doesn't have one? WTF for reals.
Actors aren't remembered for how many oscars they won but for their great works.
Correction, politicians of hollywood
Sorry boi, Rami Malek deserves the Oscar this year not Willy Dafoe
I had absolutely no idea William Dafoe was such an eloquent speaker! Not just that alone, he’s grounded in general, and so modest with each one of his roles in entertainment. In an understated way he’s very animated.
Dafoe is easily one of the most fascinating actors out there. Seams like a really genuine guy, too.
It would’ve been a dream come true to see Hugo Weaving and Willem Dafoe make a movie together with a scene that’s just the two of them laughing maniacally at each other.
Bo Xue Agent Smith vs the Green Goblin in the multiverse.
Isildur!!!!
V vs. Green Goblin
He has a weirdly satisfying voice 😂
Oh boy yeah..
Faces man, great mixtape.
@@User-og1te this comment made my day. i understood the reference before i noticed your username
It’s a bit reminiscent of Claude Rains, very soft yet gravely.
I loved him in American Psycho as well, the way it sort of brought us into Bateman mind as his character was so hard to read, you didn't know what he knew, you were inferring and imagining no where near to the way Bateman was hallucinating but to start imagining in the way he does.
This guy is just a very unique and amazing person. One of the kindest persons in the film industry 😀
WHY HASNT HE BEEN THE JOKER YET HES LITERALLY PERFECT FOR THAT
Because Hollywood thinks a gangbanger Joker is what the audience wants to see.
He'd make a good old joker in a Batman Beyond film
been saying this for ages. Willem as joker and Hamill dubbing over him.
As a matter of fact, he was considered for The Joker in Batman 1989, but the producers ultimately casted Jack Nicholson.
@@emptyforrest Why would Hamill dub over him? That would be ridiculous. Dafoe is a good enough actor to give his joker a unique voice.
Wow, Willem Dafoe seems like such a lovely human to be around.
Listening to him talk is so fulfilling. I feel like I can learn so much just by listening to him speak about his career.
This guy seems so humble and genuine. The epitome of an Actor.
THERE WAS A FIRE FIGHT!!!!

Nameology
his role as Smecker was brilliant!
19:22 Look at how bright and happy his eyes are. He can see the love he has for what he does
Willem "it was fun" Dafoe
When you have money like him, you look for films that you might at least enjoy making, even if it fails.
Dude, I can listen to him all day. He has such passion and enthusiasm as he talks, it just captures me.
The way he says “wild” at 23:03 gives me chills. I want that as my ringtone.
I made the biggest grin when he said that. Lmao
He's made me laugh until I couldn't breathe and I was drenched in tears, and I've cried with him. He's incredible!
Thank you for your love and support 💙
everytime I see Defoe's face it feels like I've just seen it for the first time
this man has such great charisma, i could listen to him talk for hours, and he is definitely one of the best actors of his generation
Willem Dafoe is one of the greatest actors. I've seen a lot of his films, indie and blockbusters. Always gets into the role and never disappoints
_i agree_
Willem is one of those actors with a voice you can just listen to which is fantastic since he seems to have so much to say and so many wonderful stories so share
I can’t help but think of the green goblin every time I hear his voice
Don’t tell Harry
@@dd867 lol that made me chuckle
Why you do this
Oh...
Watch Boondock Saints and his voice will not be Norman's anymore.
You can tell that he truly loves what he does and it shows in his performances.
He will forever be Green Goblin to me. No one else can touch him
Agreed.
yup
11:30 iconic
Thank you!
"You know, I'm something of a scientist myself"
One of the most memed lines in movie history
Guy Fieri when she says she's into science
One of the finest actors ever.
I've never heard him in an interview, sounds such a great person as well.
i love how enthusiastic and excited he gets talking about his roles
Willem one of the most diverse actors out there.
You can see he really enjoys the process of learning new things and how fulfilling it is at the end.
God bless him. What a gem
