I can never get over the generosity of people like yourself for going to such trouble to make a very helpful video. Thanks to it I replaced my belt and rollers without any problems. Many thanks. KP, Dublin, Ireland
Piaggio as well! I got my fly150 (piaggio version of this) for $500 on marketplace. “Wouldn’t run” with 1,000 miles. All it was, was a loose wire into the electrical box. Fired right up, most fun I’ve ever had
I want to congratulate you for your tutorials which are superbly well done: clear, precise, understandable. I have been following you for several years now from Belgium and it is each time with great pleasure that I discover your creations. Best wishes.👌👍
An old video, but brilliant for my Vespa which is about the age (old) as this one was when new. I don't think I would've done the belt change without this video. Thanks
Right on, Robot. Just replaced the belt on my S150. Took about four hours...I went slow. Had trouble replacing cover, but watched you do it four more times, and figured out the angles. Much obliged. Just finished test drive and all seems good. Peace. (Cheers for the cameraperson, too!)
Thank you so much for this excellent video. I have a Aprilia Atlantic 200. Although my scooter is slightly different, I was able to use your video to successfully complete a variator roller and belt change. There is no way I could have completed it successfully without this video.
Thank you Jeff/Robot for a stupendously clear, stunningly concise and wonderfully explicit video. Absolutely the best "how to" I have ever seen. You and your video-person are stars. The speed at which you do this is humbling!
Great video!!! I live in Venezuela and recently bought an used 2008 LX150. Great scooter!!! My problem now is that apparently there are no Vespa services down here. Or at least I haven't found one, and I've been trying. With your videos I can service it myself. I've already bought a few parts from your store. Next I'm building a wish list for tools, so I can do a better job. Please keep the videos coming. Thanks!!!
jeff you are a gentleman thank you for your outstanding run through on this greetings from scotland all the best i will be recommending vespa motorsport to all my friends with vespas cheers again
Great video thanks. Although, my BV250 belt I replaced at 23,994 miles and on my BV200 it was replaced at 24,883 and it still looked good. The reason belts last as long as they do on my bikes, is due to my light weight (135lbs) and I accelerate evenly and smoothly on every start. Rollers were changed at 20K miles as well... these are great reliable machines if you take good care on how you drive them. If you are like my friends, and at every stop "pulse" the accelerator, well... Ride Safe!
It is very good video. It seems to be that all automatic Vespas are quite simmilar. My ET$ 125 zap04 service procedure is 70% the same. Only dimensions of replacabel parts are different
Thank you Jeff and the Vespa Motors Team for the tutorial it is very helpful. Would you share something about the removal timming system drive and stator/flywheel maintenance on a Modern Vespa (LX125-150)?...Regards from Colombia.
Can we get Robot to open up a service branch in North Texas? The local Dallas shop charged me 2.5 hours for this service, and not sure they used a new locknut. Plus they had trouble getting their mechanics to show up to work! ARRRRRGH! Doing it myself next time!
At 12:38 you refer to a potential shim-stock washer outside the outer pulley in "older" transmissions, not present on this one. From 12:56 on you don't mention the washer that came off stuck to the outer pulley, next to the belt - it's impossible to distinguish it from the center of the pulley. At 19:31 for the reassembly you do mention and show that washer. My '09 has the pretty thick spacer and a pretty thin washer - I don't know if the washer is made of shim stock, but if that's the only washer that isn't the spacer, presumably it is supposed to go next to the belt? I think I assumed my '09 was an "older" transmission, and put that washer on the wrong side of the outer pulley two years ago. That might be why the outer pulley teeth sheared off on the splines, although it took 2200 miles.
1xura should now take two steps to the front of the class.I like these video's. When a person takes his scoot in for service, how does he know if anything is actually being done to it out in the back shop? They could say they replaced those variator roller thingy's, but how in the name of God would I ever know unless I took it apart and measured each one. What is going to happen first to my GTV if I just keep running the sheet out of it and only change the oil, filter, check fluid levels,& tires?
Boy, I wish it was that easy to get the belt cover off my BV200. It takes some serious maneuvers to wiggle it up and over the oil filler and under the rear foot peg bracket.
Great Based on info from this video I felt comfortable about working on my aunts 2009 LX150 that was not starting. I accessed the starter bendix and as expected it was sticking. I'm running into a problem trying to replace a ring clip and washer on the clutch bell. The ridge on the axle shaft is slightly behind the opening in the bell. Any ideas?
Same motor but not that easy to get the belt cover off my Fly 150ie. It takes more than some serious maneuvers to wiggle it up and over the oil filler and under the rear foot peg bracket. It actually can't be done. You have to drop the rear wheel assembley from the rear shock to get clearance. Might help some of you out there.
nice vdo but I suggest you should cover the oil filling hole while working since you never know what foreign items could find its way into the engine!!!!
Hi, great video. Could you give me please an advice? I have a Gilera Nexus with piagio 250ie engine. The scoot ha abot 5.500 miles, and lately I hear a squeak when I accelerate when starting from stoplight. If I accelerate slowlym then there is no noise, but if I accelerate a bit harder, it fieels like when clutch engacge, I heare this squeak noise. Have you ever enocuntered this type of problem? Thanks in advance for your advice.
I own a 2009 LX150 any videos on how to fix the carburetor , I haven't use for three years I try to start but the carburetor leak fuel. Any suggestions Thanks
HI Robot, I have a 2007 GT200. I've removed the clutch nut and the cover, clutch won't come off. The bell and whole unit is stuck on. Can you give me some direction please?
Vespa Motorsport, I have a 2014 Vespa with only 100 miles on it. It sits most of the time. Recently when I took it out for a spin, i noticed a loud "crackling/grinding noise" when I apply the brakes, front or rear... even with a light tap of the brakes, it the noise emanates from the left side towards the rear. Any ideas? Thanks
do you think that if the clutch dosen't disengage at Idle with piaggio engine it could stress the drive and clutch etc or do they design it in so it won't? As my new piaggio 278cc is currently always in "drive" even with a hot engine although not enough to push the bike along with a closed throttle.
does anyone know the belt length? Im getting 789, 812, 835...... frustrating when your not positive. I had to take off the 789 because it was restricting the variation
Hello. I’m trying to clean the bendix of a 2007 LXV 150 with 650 miles but I cannot get the outer half of the pulley to come off as shown at 12:54. It’s as if it’s bonded to the inner half. Have you ever come across this issue? If so, what should I do to get it to come loose? Thanks for any help!
Sometimes they stick on there pretty good. You can use a small slide hammer and carefully tap it off from the flanges around the perimeter of the cover. Just take your time!
***** Thanks, I did get it off after lots of swearing, There was a fair bit of rust due to being in a fire in a garage. The firemen must have directed hose right into the vent lol....!!
Hi, I have a problem with my scooter. It's a Piaggio Beverly 300 Tourer 2009. I just replaced myself the driving belt and the rollers on the variator, closed everything and then tested on the center stand. On idle rpm the rear wheel has an unusual spinning. I haven't actually done any distances in order for the new parts to settle, but this spinning concerns me a lot. The clutch bell nut and axis is moving like the clutch is engaged at idle rpm and so is the wheel. What could be the problem? Have I tighten it more that required? Or belt is not installed correctly?
Hi all, I am from Maldives and we dont have a vespa showroom or a service center here in this country. Its been 8 months since I have imported a brand new vespa lx125. i have been visiting a mechanic monthly and changing bith engine and gear oil no other service than that. today a drum beat like noise started coming from sonewhere near the engine and airbox. not sure where its coming from. i thought it was something stuck in the wheel but i found nothing. then i went to a mechanic and he told me its the bearings of the rear wheel. another said its the because of the rear suspension. can someone pls help me out with this because there are no special vespa mehanics here and the people here doesnt know anything :(
Intake : 0.10mm (admissiable limit : 0.8mm) Exhaust : 0.15mm (admissable limit : 0.10mm) Checked the manual and both have same clearance i.e 125 to 150cc
Don't use metal tools to pry parts apart, they make plastic pry tools, or put some electrical tape on a flat blade screwdriver so you don't scratch Parts on the scooter.
FOR SHAME YOU DONT GREASE THE INSIDE OF THE BOSS PIN! ! ive had mine stick and was told my the suzuki scooter IMPORTER garage to ALWAYS use some great on the inner hole of the boss pin and shame on you that you dont know that 7500mi is 12000km. I use metric scale and still know the miles for the maintenance on my scooter.
Hi Jeff. I've owned a few Piaggio scooters with the LEADER engine over the past 5 or so years, and every single one has dragged the centrifugal clutch at idle. The Japanese scooters (Honda, Yamaha) I've had didn't do this. Is this a common problem with LEADER engine Piaggio's, what can I do to stop this from happening? Would you recommend any of the aftermarket clutches/clutch bells? I am considering the Malossi Delta clutch (Malossi 5211821) for my Gilera DNA 180 is it any good?
I can never get over the generosity of people like yourself for going to such trouble to make a very helpful video.
Thanks to it I replaced my belt and rollers without any problems.
Many thanks.

The more of these videos I watch, the more I am convinced that a VESPA is worth the money. Thanks for posting!

I was seduced into buying a vespa by these videos. I don't regret it. Worth the extra money.
I want to congratulate you for your tutorials which are superbly well done: clear, precise, understandable. I have been following you for several years now from Belgium and it is each time with great pleasure that I discover your creations. Best wishes.👌👍

Excellent way of treating a scooter . Respect that
Thanks ✌️

now this is how you film a repair video! thank you so much! just bought the wife a Piaggio fly 150 and this was extremely helpful
Variator nut Torque : 60 ft'lbs. ______ Clutch nut Torque 50 ft.lbs. in case you forgot, like I did...lol.
Love your clear explanations and attention to details and potential "gotcha"s about various washers and bolts. Great video.
Brillant! Precisely what I wanted to see, clear and excellent description...Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
YEAH , SO GOOD!!!
I wish I could take my bike to you bro... great vid , great job.....my shop would charge 3 hours labour for that....
It is very good video.
It seems to be that all automatic Vespas are quite simmilar. My ET$ 125 zap04 service procedure is 70% the same. Only dimensions of replacabel parts are different
this Is why I buy from Vespa Motorsport
Thanks for the support!

very nice video, thank you. would it be a better idea to also remove the air box?
very well done video... excellent info, all the right part #s and tools and ... wow, good job
Thanks for the reply. When will you do a video for radiator fluid flush / exchange?
Is there a Video you do on changing the clutch assembly ? like removing clutch and putting torque spring back in :ect ?
Very professional 👍
Thanks 👍
THANK YOU for the very detailed video. My Piaggio MP3 500 was more involved.
Can we get Robot to open up a service branch in North Texas? The local Dallas shop charged me 2.5 hours for this service, and not sure they used a new locknut. Plus they had trouble getting their mechanics to show up to work! ARRRRRGH! Doing it myself next time!
Great Video thanks. I'm surprised there is no grease put on the bushing. Is that right?

Great video. Nice work guys.

This is very informative, thank you.
I would very much like to see belt change for XEvo 250!
Thanks a lot buddy video saved me dad removed forgot how to put back
Can you please show us how to repair or replace starter motor or self starter motor
thanks and regards to the anchor

Excelente video 💯👌
Do you plan to make a video for the 300 series Vespa belt change?
Wow wat a video 👌😉
Thanks 😊
nice vdo but I suggest you should cover the oil filling hole while working since you never know what foreign items could find its way into the engine!!!!
Do you have to replace any washers or nuts on the 50s as well?
Servicing the belt on my ‘07 LX50 4T 2 valve
You're the best man!!! How do you get any business if you're teaching us how to do the work?
He has You Tube black out this channel within 100 miles of his local market....:))
What do you reckon on leaving out the holding tools and using a couple of torque sticks instead attached to an impact ? a 45ft lb and a 65ft lb.
I can't believe you're working on the bike with the dipstick out. Anything could fall in!

I own a 2009 LX150 any videos on how to fix the carburetor , I haven't use for three years I try to start but the carburetor leak fuel. Any suggestions Thanks
Is the CVT belt orientation while installing important?I think i forgot to check while putting it.
I guess this is pretty similar for my Vespa LX50?
hello what is the tightness of the variator in nm? sorry translation i am brazil!
that is the same motor of the 2006 Derbi boulevard 150?
HI Robot, I have a 2007 GT200. I've removed the clutch nut and the cover, clutch won't come off. The bell and whole unit is stuck on. Can you give me some direction please?
why the variator nut has to be renewed but the clutch nut does not ?
Awesome, thanks that's a great help
Yes, this process will be very similar on an LX50. Thanks for watching!

Pretty much the same thing minus the kick starter. Thanks for watching!

i want to upgrade the fuel hose with samco hose, what size should this baby get? 3mm, 4mm or 5mm diameter
V.M, do you know wot it means if the wear area inside the clutch bell is not consistent but dull in some areas and shinny in other areas?
After putting my belt cover back on and tightening the bolt to the clutch the rear wheel won't move. What do I do?
does anyone know the belt length? Im getting 789, 812, 835...... frustrating when your not positive. I had to take off the 789 because it was restricting the variation
can u use impac drive take clutch nut of ?
My LX150 leak fuel is this regarding the flotation level ? how I can repair .
Hello, în the ET4 150, the engine is the same?

Please tell me tappet clearance gap of vespa lx 125....

repair my old piaggio instead of cleaning an unused one :(
all those tools i dont have!
👌
but what i mean, if people have scootter i think he can do this. I mean im 16 and i can change variator, change exhaust, cylinder etc.
Look at ol robot
