This is a great video. Clear step-by-step instructions, and walking you through it in a confident easygoing manner. I'm a complete motor novice and I did the carbeurator removal, clean and reinstall, no problem. The cleaning video is worth the bucks.
I was concerned about damaging the intake hose, so it took me three tries to remove it, but once I did, I shot some carb cleaner in there and the bike started right up! Thank you!!!
That’s what I did on my vino. I took my carburetor completely apart and cleaned out the jets and everything then put it back together and it runs fine. I just need to adjust the idle screw.
Awesome video! At 5:08 - I assume now that it's 4 years later you no longer charge $135 for a carburetor clean? I recently cleaned the Walbro carb on a 2003 Piaggio LT150 that sat for ~10 years. It was really gunked up inside and the rubber gaskets and other internal rebuild parts are apparently no longer available for the original Walbro carb in 2023 so I had to be very careful with the gaskets. I managed to get the LT150 running again after the carb clean and replacing a bad fuel tap/petcock that would not flow fuel even when sucking on the vacuum side with my mouth. Thanks for your videos!
Do you have a paid video on how to expose the oil pump on an ET2 50? The oil line goes into the case, where the pump is I suppose. Looks different than my zuma. Oil line is all brittle and needs replacing. Thomas from Texas.
I am about to purchase a brand new scooter and was wondering if you could advise me about common problems with vespa,s it will be the 125 cc,i love the look of them, but have read somewhere they do have some problems, whether this is with new one,s or high milage models i do not know so I thought i would ask the experts, Other than the vespa i also quite like the honda PCX,and advice would be great, cheers Pete from the UK,
This video (and the carb clean video) are amazing and very helpful! Only one problem...I ended up with an extra part after disassembling the carburetor! D'oh! I've watched it time and again, and I don't know where it came from. It's a brass piece, about half an inch long, unthreaded, has a hole through the middle, two small cylindrical pieces of different sizes. Some sort of grommet, but where did it come from?
Thanks for the support 🙏🏻💯. That is the one of the brass emoltion tubes. It goes into the carburetor so the carburetor needle doesn’t move around. Pull the diaphragm out of the top of the carburetor and you will see a giant hole where the needle slides through the carburetor. Unfortunately this will need to be installed by removing the main jet and emoltion tube.
@@RollingWrench Thanks for the quick response. I actually figured it out because it was literally the only place it would go! I wouldn’t have the confidence to do this without this great video.
I have the same problem, but I believe mine is the electrical system. No spark at all. Checked the stator, CDI, spark plug, and ignition coil....all good. This started after I took it into the car stereo shop to get the audio system fixed. They fixed the audio, but it hasn't started since. Other suggestions? It's a GY6 motor, tried starting fluid just for the hell of it. Did nothing. Thanks!
kristi8431 might be the kill switch got messed up somehow and its not letting your ride start. You can Google how to jump that n see if thats the problem. I would also double check that ignition coil 1 more time. That thing messed me up one time but luckily I figured it out quickly. Other than that, idk, its definitely easier to see it in person to help u out.
ALSO THE SHOP BROKE YOUR SCOOTER YOU NEED TO MAKE THEM NOW REPAIR IT WHY WOULD YOU HAVE TAKEN BACK WHAT THEY BROKE i'D HAVE CALLED A COP TO GET A REPORT WRITTEN UP FOR INSURANCE IF HE GIVES YOU SHIT ABOUT IT HE SHOULD BE VERY HUMBLE AND SHOULD DROP EVERYTHING TILL YOURS IS RUNNING AS IT DID PRIOR TO GOING INTO THAT HACK JOINT NEVER EVER GO BACK ONCE THEY FIX THIS ISSUE NO MATTER HOW IF THEY SAY WE DONT HAVE A CERTIFIED MECHANIC SIMPLY SAY HIRE ONE AND LEAVE TELL THEM YOULL BE BACK IN 3 DAYS MEANWHILE FILE A REPOR W DMV YES THEY HELP WITH motor VEHICLES
Cool. Is the lx commonly problematic with electrics? I got a 10 year old lx50 that would cut off on me randomly when I first got it Then it would just be hard to start. Like I could hear the starter motor spin faster and faster after a minute (sometimes literally after holding the starter,)!and then it would finally start. Especially hard during humidity NOW I just hear the motor spin but no starter spinning unless I jump start it. Was told it had a bad stator and the dude is charging me $175 for the part and installation. I’m gonna be pissed if it still doesn’t start after that, but it’s only three things when it comes to spark, right?
Any thoughts on headlights and how a headlight works as far as if the scooter has to be running for it to come on? My vino had the oem headlight wires cut so does the headlight come on when the scooter is running?
Since you've been so helpful, I'm going to impose on you to ask for more help. The starter cranks, but it's not starting. The battery is charged, horn works, etc. I've replace fuel lines. Gas tank was drained. Carburetor cleaned as per your video. Fuel valve replaced. Could it be spark plug? Can you point me to a video on how that's worked? It's a 2009 LX 50 and the plug is ridiculously inaccessible. Any suggestions on what to try next?
It could definitely be the spark plug. It is difficult to get to that’s for sure. If the spark plug is fouled it will never start. Be sure to check for spark when you have the plug out
@@peerik5619 Gunky carb. I disassembled it and tried to clean it myself, reassembled it -- still didn't work. So, I replaced the whole thing for $27, LOL. Learned a lot, but I could have saved myself a lot of time. Now it runs like a top.
my vespa won’t start and makes a little to no noise at all when i try to start it. The headlights don’t turn on but the horn honks. I was wondering if it’s something wrong with my battery
thank you for the videos man! i always wanted to learn car mechanic, but its too much for me. this scooter thing feels more doable for me! u have a new subscriber 👌🏻
My Vespa E4 150LX has a new battery but doesn't even make the coughing sound when I turn the key. I hear a click only. Just in case, I bought the carb cleaning video and will walk through the steps in this video and maybe try to clean the carburetor. Any other suggestions? BTW, the scoot was sitting for about a year on a battery tender.
Do you get brake lights, signals, and horn when the key is turned on? If not check the fuse, if the fuse is good hook jumper cables from a car to the scooter to see if that works. DO NOT START THE CAR. Its to much for the scoot. You can also try the kickstart as well
@@RollingWrench Thanks for the feedback! I do get all the lights on. I purchased an Amazon sealed battery that had 12.91 when I checked a day after installing it. I've since hooked it up to my battery tender. The fuses look decent. I might try the jumper cables but my car is a Prius and it may be too much work to get to the 12-volt battery. I am hoping to get a scoot guy stop in next week and look it over. The Vespa only has 6500 miles.
Susan Priano honk the horn while pushing the start button. If the horn turns off while pushing the start button the new battery has a bad cell and will need replacement
@@RollingWrench So nice of you to offer assistance. I tried the horn and yes it works. Weirdly, I had the battery tender pugged in overnight and still had a flashing red light. I decided to put the clamps on the terminals and now see a solid red light signifying a charge. The voltmeter on the iGel battery was increasing to 13.... It's possible it needed to be charged up prior? Of course the carb should be checked but since I don't even hear the starting cough I am suspicious its not just a fuel issue.
my scooter dies out after a few miles when a stop comes or while on the mountain roads, i have got the carb cleaned and the idle adjusted still this problem persists ! It's really taxing on me as i have to drive 14km up and down every day.
Actually I was just saying the same thing to a friend of mine the other day. Is the typhoon of this year's any worse than the type of glass earrings bracket of the gasket I have no idea what you talking about dude
