Honestly, I could see Ash opening up a Pokemon Gym, not one that is a Gym Leader, but one that takes new trainers and teaches them how to get their bearings as up and coming trainers, learning tactics, combinations, weakness exploits, understanding type combinations and fighting styles. Would be a good fit for someone like Ash.

Considering how many restaurants he's been to, how many flights to regions he's made, how many signs and fliers he's come across to decide where he's going, I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet that Ash never forget how to read. He does it all the time technically.

what a lot of people loved about ash is that he was caring and never really prepared anything so if he had to make a speech or some type of pep talk, it was from the heart even if he fumbled it... Like a lot. despite being a kid and the way he expressed the emotions in his battles he did it like a kid would but enough to where an adult can understand it eventually.

I like to think that ash got off relatively well. Kid traveled the world, made connections, and became familiar with how others conduct business. Prof oak is the one I'm concerned about. Dude sent off a 10 year old on an unpaid tour to do research while aiming for the kid's mother. Also, lore wise didn't ash get married to his unseen before childhood friend, and they had a daughter.
Um, what? First off, Prof. Oak isn't trying to date Ash's Mom. Second, I think you are talking about Liko? No, she isn't Ash's daughter. Ash is still a 10 year old.

(Not counting kids that want to join Contests and other Events). Ash isn't an Adult. He is still 10 years old. Pokemon is an Anime. He doesn't need realistic survival instincts. He can survive Pikachu's attacks. Most of Ash's companions are also 10-15 years old. It's apart of living in the Pokemon World.

You know in a world where you can take a floating fox, feed him with candies, give it to something and it will become smarter than a whole school class together sending kids with isn't that bad of a plan, considering home isn't the safest place too, because no home will save you from collapse of the universe. Also I think their education works like this: Normal but two years longer. 1: They have one subject more: Pokémon Training. Probably the most popular subject. For this reason it is probably teached around three times a week. Usually you go 12 years to school. One year has about 35-40 school weeks combined. That makes about 75 pokemon lessons per year and 900 overall. A school year has about 20 lessons per week so around 750 per year. So, adding a subject like these males overall education a whole year longer. The second thing additional year goes to a journey. Every trainer (you get your license around the same year as elementary school ends) have the right to go on a journey for a whole year and when he is back, no matter successful or not, he continues learning and ends a year later. Mewtwo's tolerance might be strained if Ash turns to him as a source of money/shelter. I wouldn't want one of my friends quitting their job and asking to sleep on my couch indefinitely.

After all of Ash's accomplishments (and the fact that he's still technically journeying so he's not really retired anyway), I'm having a hard time seeing Ash have difficulty making a living in his world.
People can even sell bikes at like 7000-9000 us dollars (or, given that ash lives in kanto, then it costs a million yen), school seems mostly unnecessary in a world where you can gain money from repeatly fighting random guys on the street tbf
Hey I love Ash! Can’t believe how much time has passed. My grandpa who watched Pokémon with me passed, as did my two older cousins who were with me as well. The journey is greater than the destination, Ash embodied that super well IMO.
Now, the question needs to be asked- is Ash going to be voiced by a girl here? Or are they just going to have him with that generic guy voice Dorkly does?
Dorkly is hands down one of my favorite TH-cam channels! Their hilarious and creative videos always bring a smile to my face. The animation and editing are top-notch, and the writing is clever and witty. I love how they bring popular characters to life in unique and unexpected ways.
He did spend some time in Pokémon School in Alola (he read from the board a few times), and he also spent a lot of time as a research fellow. So he does have that education lined up so he can probably get a job as a professor assistant maybe helping out his connection with Gary Oak.
Or he can do not thing ( beside pokemon stuff) and let his Idol girlfriend feed him... He also wont be worry about getting stab since he alway have op rat beside him...

I mean... In the world of pokemon - he is literally the most knowledgeable about them... He could easily become a pokemon professor himself. If not to mention his possible career as a guide for trainers. His mother, if I remember correct, works on a power plant and using pokemons to generate electricity. And he is, no doubt, knows a lot about all pokemon types and how to use them for good. There is a tons of thing he could do. He is like... The best tamer ever. He knows how to find a way to every type of magical dangerous beasts... He is the type of specialists every university want as a tutor. And after all - He is freaking 10! It is not the latest time to learn how to read... He has at least 15 years ahead of him to learn everything. And for curing his PTSD - he has hypnos at his service)
It would’ve been funny if Ash pointed out how they never gave Cynthia this kind of questioning, only for them to point out that she's also a world renown historian on top of being a champion, then ask him if he can read again.
1-2:37 I can’t tell if that meant Ash knows moving in with his mom is a long shot, or if the only reason he’s moving back in is because she partially guilt tripped him. 2-It’s sad but oddly heartwarming that they’re concerned about Ash being in such a state of arrested development (hope I used that term right 😅) that he won’t be able to survive outside of the Pokémon game.
But he never moved out, he was just traveling, and his mother constantly worried about him, she would never kick him out. Ash also told Misty and Brock once that he doesn't like to stay at home for too long because Delilah would make him do yard work and help with the garden, so he always leaves as soon as possible.
With Ash’s Pikachu easily going from high pitched name elaborating to baritone of the year, he can be a voice actor and Ash can just live off of him for the rest of his life!
At least In the main Anime universe Ash lives in a country where all the things he can do are actually considered Useful skills all though in that one He can actually read and also knows how to do actual work .
I like to think Ash will be a Frontier brain given that he was offered during the frontiers season if the offer might still stand, and perhaps revisit Serena and begin dating. Who knows we’ll just have to wait and see. Also I think he can read I personally think some of those reporters were a bit too harsh on poor Ash.
Theres a lot of pokemon-based jobs that ash could take, such as being the next "prof. Oak", becoming a cop (they use pokemons to do their work), a teacher, work at some pokemon mart, etc.

I mean, he's traveled pretty much everywhere, has met a lot of people, won ta every gym and at the battle frontier and has experience with a wide array of different pokemon, not to mention he's liked by a quite a few legendary and mythical pokemon, on top of preventing some disasters. I don't think he'll have much trouble finding somewhere to settle down or land a job since he's done a lot of everything during his travels. (And he's 10)
This is part of the reason why I prefer Digimon over Pokemon; because the cast changes every Season it allows the show to tell a new story that grows/develops its characters by the end.
@PrincessCrystal Keeping the same cast around gives audiences a sense of familiarity. As we often grow attached to the heroes watching them constantly onscreen, we want to see more of them. But bringing in a completely new set of heroes regularly means you are back to square one when it comes to character building and getting people invested in them all over again.
I agree. This is one of the reasons I gave up on Pokemon a long time ago; I hear things about it but I never watched it any further. At least with Digimon and Yugioh they do try to do new things with each of their series; even the Digimon Adventure Reboot tired to do something a little different.
@@barbiquearea But sometimes going for a new set of characters opens a gateway of opportunities for new ideas, dynamics, worlds, rules, etc. They don't NEED to ditch the previous characters anyway. They could have a character from the previous series temporarily/permanently join in on the team with the new cast for opportunities of fun interactions, the previous character showing off their experience, while the new character learning off from them, before departing one another. There's a reason why Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is so beloved as regardless of new characters, the world still feels connected.

thats only in games. Ash is from the anime series and there you dont get money for winning against trainers and it seemed he was often broke and had to take food/shelter in Pokémon Centers where it seems to be for free
I mean ash clearly has an extremely stacked offshore account or his gym leader connections pay him high in stacks. Since he has been able to travel through multiple means of transportations and ate on multiple restaurants, some even being high class. Like I can buy that ash has more than enough connections to give him a long-term to permanent job, or he can always live outside and be a freelance worked wherever he goes. Guy has been shown to be able to handle himself in the wild numerous times despite being 10 and if anything he's as agile and dexterous as a Greninja.
You'd think after his years of travel, running into obscure and legendary pokemon, and fighting off several terrorist organizations would have researchers and security firms lining up out the door to hire him on based on his experience.
Ash could have said that he would settle down with one of his female travel companions marry them. Too bad he was never in love with any of them on the show.
Ash did have an education though. When he was in Alola he’s been living with a Pokémon professor who gave him a home. It was easier for Kukui to tutor Ash since they lived together. Kukui and Burnet might as well be Ash’s adoptive parents. Burnet called Ash Lei’s big brother. If you’ve been living with professors and one of them was also the teacher of your own class and the school of that class also had another professor as its principal that being principal Oak you’re bound to be ready to be a professor yourself. What’s stopping Ash from teaching other kids just like Kukui taught him? Oh let’s not forget Ash’s hometown has its own professor too. And his time as a research fellow also made him close friends with another professor as well. Yeah I think I know which job Ash would have after retiring from battles Edit: in conclusion, he either becomes a professor in Pallet Town like Professor Oak or move to Alola to follow Kukui’s footsteps who was more of a father to Ash than Ash’s actual dad who I still have no idea why his mom chose him

He does has a point about Professor Oaks.. And Ash's Parents didn't care to let their son wonder the world as a 10 year old! That's neglects and they should get their parenting rights striped away and all of them should be thrown in jail for this careless act of letting a child run loose with no supervision, no proper tools to live in the wild and no training of survival techniques.. Ash isn't an Adult. He is still 10 years old. Pokemon is an Anime. He doesn't need realistic survival instincts. He can survive Pikachu's attacks. Most of Ash's companions are also 10-15 years old. It's apart of living in the Pokemon World.

Now let's talk about a bit culture and very much math. You know in a world where you can take a floating fox, feed him with candies, give it to something and it will become smarter than a whole school class together sending kids with isn't that bad of a plan, considering home isn't the safest place too, because no home will save you from collapse of the universe.
Also I think their education works like this: Normal but two years longer.
1: They have one subject more: Pokémon Training. Probably the most popular subject. For this reason it is probably teached around three times a week. Usually you go 12 years to school. One year has about 35-40 school weeks combined. That makes about 75 pokemon lessons per year and 900 overall. A school year has about 20 lessons per week so around 750 per year. So, adding a subject like these males overall education a whole year longer. The second thing additional year goes to a journey. Every trainer (you get your license around the same year as elementary school ends) have the right to go on a journey for a whole year and when he is back, no matter successful or not, he continues learning and ends a year later.
And that's why they have education, but it's two years longer

After all of Ash's accomplishments (and the fact that he's still technically journeying so he's not really retired anyway), I'm having a hard time seeing Ash have difficulty making a living in his world.
People can even sell bikes at like 7000-9000 us dollars (or, given that ash lives in kanto, then it costs a million yen), school seems mostly unnecessary in a world where you can gain money from repeatly fighting random guys on the street tbf

Hey I love Ash! Can’t believe how much time has passed. My grandpa who watched Pokémon with me passed, as did my two older cousins who were with me as well.
The journey is greater than the destination, Ash embodied that super well IMO.

Dorkly is hands down one of my favorite TH-cam channels! Their hilarious and creative videos always bring a smile to my face. The animation and editing are top-notch, and the writing is clever and witty. I love how they bring popular characters to life in unique and unexpected ways.
He did spend some time in Pokémon School in Alola (he read from the board a few times), and he also spent a lot of time as a research fellow.
So he does have that education lined up so he can probably get a job as a professor assistant maybe helping out his connection with Gary Oak.
Or he can do not thing ( beside pokemon stuff) and let his Idol girlfriend feed him... He also wont be worry about getting stab since he alway have op rat beside him...

I think most were rather glad about that. That was wished for a long time. But the main problem is not Ash but simply the bad writing of the whole series itself. And that will probably never change, with or without Ash.

I mean... In the world of pokemon - he is literally the most knowledgeable about them... He could easily become a pokemon professor himself. If not to mention his possible career as a guide for trainers. His mother, if I remember correct, works on a power plant and using pokemons to generate electricity. And he is, no doubt, knows a lot about all pokemon types and how to use them for good. There is a tons of thing he could do. He is like... The best tamer ever. He knows how to find a way to every type of magical dangerous beasts... He is the type of specialists every university want as a tutor. And after all - He is freaking 10! It is not the latest time to learn how to read... He has at least 15 years ahead of him to learn everything.
And for curing his PTSD - he has hypnos at his service)

You know what was a missed opportunity in this video? If at the end Pikachu said he was thinking of going into the detective business.
1-2:37 I can’t tell if that meant Ash knows moving in with his mom is a long shot, or if the only reason he’s moving back in is because she partially guilt tripped him.
2-It’s sad but oddly heartwarming that they’re concerned about Ash being in such a state of arrested development (hope I used that term right 😅) that he won’t be able to survive outside of the Pokémon game.
But he never moved out, he was just traveling, and his mother constantly worried about him, she would never kick him out. Ash also told Misty and Brock once that he doesn't like to stay at home for too long because Delilah would make him do yard work and help with the garden, so he always leaves as soon as possible.
Somehow yard work seems to be easier than traveling by foot for a couple decades

At least In the main Anime universe Ash lives in a country where all the things he can do are actually considered Useful skills all though in that one He can actually read and also knows how to do actual work .
I like to think Ash will be a Frontier brain given that he was offered during the frontiers season if the offer might still stand, and perhaps revisit Serena and begin dating. Who knows we’ll just have to wait and see. Also I think he can read I personally think some of those reporters were a bit too harsh on poor Ash.
Theres a lot of pokemon-based jobs that ash could take, such as being the next "prof. Oak", becoming a cop (they use pokemons to do their work), a teacher, work at some pokemon mart, etc.

I don't think he'll have much trouble finding somewhere to settle down or land a job since he's done a lot of everything during his travels. (And he's 10)

This is part of the reason why I prefer Digimon over Pokemon; because the cast changes every Season it allows the show to tell a new story that grows/develops its characters by the end.
Same with Yugioh, imagine if Yugi and Kaiba were constantly in every series?
@PrincessCrystal Keeping the same cast around gives audiences a sense of familiarity. As we often grow attached to the heroes watching them constantly onscreen, we want to see more of them. But bringing in a completely new set of heroes regularly means you are back to square one when it comes to character building and getting people invested in them all over again.
I agree. This is one of the reasons I gave up on Pokemon a long time ago; I hear things about it but I never watched it any further. At least with Digimon and Yugioh they do try to do new things with each of their series; even the Digimon Adventure Reboot tired to do something a little different.

But sometimes going for a new set of characters opens a gateway of opportunities for new ideas, dynamics, worlds, rules, etc. They don't NEED to ditch the previous characters anyway.
They could have a character from the previous series temporarily/permanently join in on the team with the new cast for opportunities of fun interactions, the previous character showing off their experience, while the new character learning off from them, before departing one another.
There's a reason why Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is so beloved as regardless of new characters, the world still feels connected.

Ash has money. Every trainer he beat was required to give him money. After all those battles, even if you count him losing half after every loss, he'd be very wealthy by now.
thats only in games. Ash is from the anime series and there you dont get money for winning against trainers and it seemed he was often broke and had to take food/shelter in Pokémon Centers where it seems to be for free
I mean ash clearly has an extremely stacked offshore account or his gym leader connections pay him high in stacks. Since he has been able to travel through multiple means of transportations and ate on multiple restaurants, some even being high class. Like I can buy that ash has more than enough connections to give him a long-term to permanent job, or he can always live outside and be a freelance worked wherever he goes. Guy has been shown to be able to handle himself in the wild numerous times despite being 10 and if anything he's as agile and dexterous as a Greninja.
I'd say Ash can survive on leaching off Pikachu, who is essentially the mascot of a franchise currently worth about a hundred billion.

Ash did have an education though. When he was in Alola he’s been living with a Pokémon professor who gave him a home. It was easier for Kukui to tutor Ash since they lived together. Kukui and Burnet might as well be Ash’s adoptive parents. Burnet called Ash Lei’s big brother. If you’ve been living with professors and one of them was also the teacher of your own class and the school of that class also had another professor as its principal that being principal Oak you’re bound to be ready to be a professor yourself. What’s stopping Ash from teaching other kids just like Kukui taught him? Oh let’s not forget Ash’s hometown has its own professor too. And his time as a research fellow also made him close friends with another professor as well. Yeah I think I know which job Ash would have after retiring from battles
Edit: in conclusion, he either becomes a professor in Pallet Town like Professor Oak or move to Alola to follow Kukui’s footsteps who was more of a father to Ash than Ash’s actual dad who I still have no idea why his mom chose him
