      @@codyluka8355 Only "I Love Lucy" was a classic series, as the word "classic" is defined... judged as of exceptional quality, a high standard from which others are judged, standing the test of time. I have the entire "ILL" DVD collection, treasure it, and will leave it to the next generation because as a classic, it will be just as funny in the future as it is now, as it was when they were new.

    I see Wayne's brother Jerry is still with him at the time this was done. I met Wayne when he was first starting out and he was a very nice guy and was so talented. I saw him at the Venetian Room at the Fairmont hotel, in San Francisco. Our good friend lead the orchestra there and he told us that we just had to come in and see that young man. Wayne was the showman even then.
    Now he looks like a caricature of himself and I'm sorry for all the problems he has had. I realize he brought them on himself, but it's still sad. He was a great talent.

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sixty years ago, I'd watch TV and the oldsters would make homophobic snark about Liberace, Johnny Mathis, and Wayne Newton. I didn't get it until later. Wayne had a high voice, a lisp, and round hips. At Lake Tahoe, we caught his act and his audience was identical to Liberace's: enthusiastic older ladies. Wayne married an older Hawaiian airline stewardess, who later claimed he beat her, and this is sometimes what occurs when gay men feel pressured to marry. Much later, Johnny Carson instigated a nasty barrage of jokes about Wayne, and I remember it. Wayne just couldn't let it go, and I think that's what put him over the top: dying his hair black, the weight gain, the mustache, then outrageous plastic surgery.

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dennishalford5763 I heard that long, long ago and don't believe Wayne would attempt such a thing, much less gotten past security at NBC where Carson was its most important star. Wayne was bigger than Johnny, but Johnny had been an amateur boxer when younger, was a war veteran, and had the brawling experience most mean drunks have. So I don't believe it. I think Carson was a friendless SOB who was way out of line using Wayne's sexuality as a punchline, but that's how Johnny was.

      I agree! I went to the Tonight Show when Johnny was hosting it. He never once spoke or acknowledged the audience until he came out to do his monologue. During the tape stops while the commercials were playing, he sat there and never so much as looked in the direction of the audience --- not a nice man!
      Contrast this to Carol Burnett. I also went to see her show taped years ago. She not only answered every question an audience member had until no hands were left up, which was edited down and placed at the beginning of her show, but she would come out during the tape stops for the commercials and ask if anyone else in the audience had anymore questions for her. After the taping was over, she came out and thanked everyone for coming and gave us the date the show was to air. She was the opposite of the conceited Johnny Carson. A very nice woman.

      So true...THIS is REAL talent, no matter the hilarity involved. That's the difference for what constituted entertainment back then. The ONLY talent the Kardashians/Jenners are famous for is for screwing/being USED BY, rappers and ballers, having out-of-wedlock kids, and being exhibitionists. They have made their billions by selling their souls...and negatively influencing an entire generation of young women, who not only idolize them, but attempt to copy their EVERY move, to the detriment of both themselves and their reputations...

    To say Wayne Newton is massively musically talented is an understatement. He’s so underrated and not nearly appreciated as he should be.

    Lucille Arnaz had talent and beautiful looks she had to take a back seat to her mother she could have stood alone and became a iconic entertainer

      What does it mean Lucie Arnaz "had"to take a back seat to her mother? Lucille Ball created "Here's Lucy" so her two kids could get experience - Desi Arnaz stayed for 3 seasons and Lucie Arnaz for 5 seasons, I think. On I Love Lucy Lucille Ball won 2 Emmys and on "The Lucy Show"she won two Emmys (1967 & 1968). After I Love Lucy, critics said she would not make it w/o Desi - proved them wrong; and after Vivian Vance left The Lucy Show, they said the show would not be as good. I always said I liked the 3 seasons w/o Vance better - and those were the years she won the Emmys. Lucy was showcasing her children and when they were ready, they left and both made it on their own. In the early years I felt Lucie Arnaz was just ok, later on with age and experience she became better and better.
