Emotion , nostalgia , sadness , horror , bitter sweet triumph and adventurous agony , feelings that come from a great fantasy story ... my beloved soundtrack of all time. Thanks , James Newton Howard for that musical jewel and of course Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra and Todd AO scoring stage for the epic performance recording !
Really nice companion to the original soundtrack. I think this is one of the best Newton Howard soundtracks and I hoped he would have developed the theme more.
I would argue that it was a great movie. At least average. The concept and delivery of it was really original. And honestly, I think most didn't like it as they were expected something else.
@@MisterGeof Eh. The concept was nice, a new fairytale, great, but the execution was flawed at best. It was like watching a beta version of a script, you know? With the Asian lady delivering all the exposition in huge info dumps, and a few scenes written out in between the summary bits. Shyamalan cast himself as a visionary/prophet who would only be appreciated after his death (come on!) and he secondary villain was a bad movie reviewer who didn't understand the story. Like. There is a good movie in there somewhere, and I'm sure that a good script doctor could have done a lot of good here. The idea of mermaids and an entire culture is good, the idea of giving an important message is good, the idea of predetermined roles and everything fits together (just like in unbreakable and signs) works in the story as well, I think. It's just surrounded by a lot of things that don't work.
@@AnnekeOosterink I don't think we are meant to really pay attention to the cogs (the cliche elements) but more what the overall story is saying. I think its okay if some aspects are janky. I think they still work if you don't focus on them. Definitely janky of course. Definitely not without flaw
I know that Tuomas Holopainen loves him, but i think he listens to Nightwish too cause some melodies remind me of NW, like Two for Tragedy, or the piano Ever Dream. This is written after these NW songs 🫶Love them both anyways!
One of the most beautiful scores ever!

Found this accidentally and so glad I did. Beautifully atmospheric.....Now I need to find the movie.....
La épica de James Newton Howard en el clímax de varias películas de Shyamalan es sencillamente ESPECTACULAR. 💚
Espectacular

Have you heard The Village Soundtrack? Its really beautiful, full of emotion and the solo violinist is amazing.
This was by no means a “good movie” but damn it has some pretty awesome music along with some good actors like Giamatti and Howard in this! I love it.
