@CoralFish12g , that is a standardized sub-ceiling no? Choose a corner. Place the original sub-ceiling panel to the side in the sub-ceiling cavity. Get a piece of white metal or something that doesn't stand out too much. Cut a hole near the corner of the metal piece(that substitutes for the original sub-ceiling panel) for a cable. Run a cable-strip down the corner. Use some dots of silicone instead of screws. Easier to remove (In case you aren't allowed to puncture the walls).
Buy a plug + a cable with Ground, Neutral and Live wires. Buy enough length that you can plug it into the nearest socket. But also bring it up to that corner and across the sub ceiling to the other corner of the room. Then buy a simple Sub-ceiling light fixture of LED. Hook the cable wire into the light fixture. If you can't directly wire into the fixture? Cut the socket end of the Fixture. Use a plastic electric box and wire inside it. Isolating most of the potential dangers. Excess cable? Simply let it rest in the sub ceiling. That way, you can change the position of the fixture if you find the centre isn't an ideal placement.
The one linked below ? A sub ceiling LED light fixture. It costs around 60 bucks in Sweden but we are known for our taxes. You can probably get something similar around 40 bucks in US.

This way, you will not infringe on potential Dorm room regulations. I mean, they can't complain about you using the sub ceiling for a better light fixture if you haven't damaged the original pieces. AKA, can restore to original looks. Just make sure the Sub-ceiling is properly anchored to the ceiling so it can handle the extra weight. But it should considering the size of the room. Otherwise, it would have been bowing.
Want to be able to control when the light is on and off? Simply hook a floor light switch ( images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71V1ojYJKEL._SX522_.jpg ) in serial connection with the cable. Voila, an effective light source.
Get a dwarf morray eel they can fit in a 30 gallon!! And it's active at night, when you're home from class.

They may be able to fit in that small of a tank, but they won’t be happy. The smallest tank that I’d put one in is a 75 gallon.

Break Through there are a couple you can get that will work for a 30 gallon, but they are for the most part uninteresting and don’t really act like the “typical” puffer.
Erect4e36 Valentini puffers are great though
No pufferfish well bit up the tails of the seahorse or probably eaten remember pufferfish are aggressive
Valentini puffer would be fine in 30gal
Green spotted puffers can live in reef conditions
I can’t wait to have a saltwater tank! Saltwater fish are so colorful and interesting. I just set up a NEW 10G freshwater tank in my latest video and will be getting fish soon.

Hey man, so the light stand you're using has an all white shoot through umbrella, so you should be pointing the umbrella towards the subject instead of trying to bounce light off of it. If you buy a black umbrella with a white, silver, or gold lining you can use that to bounce light! Great sea horses!

You're so lucky to have a room so big, mine is like 6.5x9.8 feet. It's already crowded with the minimal furniture, an anaconda's tub and 2 other snakes' tubs. So all I can have is 2 tubs of fish: One with a betta and the other has 2 german rams with a mix of shrimp and snails. Hopefully in the future, I can get a saltwater tank
the feeding sesh was epic
Add the plastic part of velcro to the inside rim of the 30g if you're going to do an octopus. It will help with them escaping as they hate the way velcro feels.

I say go for a lion fish. What's more badass than a lion fish? Other than a shark. Or a grouper. Or a serial killer trigger of some variety. Well lion fish are IMO the most beautiful fish in a salt water tank, so yeah. They have that going for them too, which is nice. I say a lion fish setup with a few exotic corals. Green slimer acro, a colorful zoanthid garden, and an exotic torch coral...just some ideas. Maybe a bright red sponge to give it some extra color pop. Black gravel instead of white sand.

Do yourself a favor an buy a small mantis shrimp species. The green ones (gondactylus species) are small, fun, and very interactive. They're also too small to break glass. Theyre great for a small species focused tank
