S.F. teacher turning 100 is celebrated by students she inspired

On Sunday in Oakland, the 100th birthday celebration for a retired San Francisco teacher became a heartfelt class reunion. John Ramos reports. (7-7-24)

Happy Birthday Flossie ... the best teacher I ever had. You helped me learn that a book is more than simply a story.
Fun to see a couple of B&W photos of her that I took back in (probably) 1964, in this video.
I'll never forget the first day of class when she was assigning seats row by row in alphabetical order. About half way through this process (I wasn't paying close attention) she told oiur row to get out of our seats so she could assign the right body to the right chair. She looked at me through her glasses and said something like, "Four eyes ... didn't you hear me?" A bit embarrassed I stood and went to the back of the room, when a minute later she called out my name ... to put me back into the exact same seat she had me vacate. I think there was a bit of collective laughter.
