This is the best stand up routine about Israel I’ve seen in a while, delivers thoughtful and important points while being absolutely hilarious . I lost my shit at two plate solution.
I got into an argument with an Israeli the other day. I think the only thing that got through even a little bit is when I pointed out that there are very few people capable of calling out injustice when they massively benefit from it. We are all guilty of it. How many of us think about the kids in sweat-shops that make our clothes? Thank you for bringing some joy into this dark world Gianmarco.
Even in that case, there'd be a massive difference between lamenting that there's nothing you can really do about it despite knowing it's evil because you're a powerless consumer under pain of failure to survive, and defending the sweatshops like they have the moral right to do that. Many people think about it, precious few have any means of changing it. But I've never heard anyone get offended on the sweatshop's behalf.
Honestly I think of it then I break and buy clothing anyway. I need to do better and start sewing. I keep my clothes until I can't wear them anymore. I have my "outside clothes" my "inside clothes" then my "project clothes". 😂😂 I'm in a robe I have had for a minimum of 15 years. If we have to partake the least we can do is partake a little as possible. It's honestly disgusting that World leaders don't do more but they don't care because as you said they benefit. I will also note that this hit me mich harder after truly seeing how sweatshops were like. Fashion designer or something went to work in them and documented everything. Hi! I'm Iranian and an anti-zionist, and that's very much not true. Antisemitism is unfortunately rampant in muslim countries, and pretending otherwise is cowardice.
@@jultejock7185it wasn’t before Israel. It isn’t cowardice. Muslims have offered safe haven to Jews for as long as Muslims existed. Jewish people fled persecution from Europe to Muslim countries. That is why Palestinians welcomed thousands of holocaust survivors and gave them refuge in their own homes right before the Nakba (only to be backstabbed by Zionists) Antisemitism in the Muslim world is entirely due to Zionism. Zionists have done such a good job at conflating Zionists with Jewish. And making everyone believe that being jewish means you are a Zionist. This is why Zionists point fingers at H group and Palestinians for saying Yahoud when speaking about Israelis or cursing at them. And they get called antisemitic for hating all Jews and wanting them to disappear. When they are merely copying how Israelis and Zionists talk about themselves. History was unfortunately written by the victors. But we are now at a time where that is no longer the case. And you can find out how things happened. I am an anthropologist from Morocco and studied how a quarter million Jewish Moroccans left from Israel. While the history is murky on whether they chose to or not. Them being stripped of their citizenship and not allowed to come back when many of them planned to (for example how they had my grandfather sign a contract that says he’ll give them back the house they bought with the same price he bought it if they come back within 20 years. It was in Hebrew and people trusted them to be truthful) come back. Some even did. But there is also the documented case of H*ler offering the king protection from France and Spain who were colonizing us if he gave him the Jews. And he refused because they were just as much his subjects as anyone else. And history is full of these examples. So don’t let Zionists that away from you and twist history to what they want.
@@jultejock7185 it's not cowardice, it's pure lie Muslim countries really hate Jews before Israel was a thing if Israel was made by those Jews I would totally support it but it was made by Germans and UE people

This reminds me of Hari Kondabolu's bit "My English Relationship" and I say that as high praise. Both are excellent jokes about oppressive situations that are told in ways that (hopefully) provide a better understanding of the subject matter. Hell yeah. Also Hamas/Hummus in the Tupperware was brilliant.
Thanks for the reference. It made me think of Northern Ireland comedians during the Troubles. The thing was, everything was so insane - and therefore ripe for humor to expose that insanity - but it took incredible courage to do comedy about that in that setting. This fellow is brave too, and his bravery comes from seeing insanity and wanting to do something about it-at least that’s how it seems to me.
Also I’m pretty sure idf and hamas are in direct opposition so what you said was not correct. Maybe you meant. “ they have done a good job of labeling any criticism of (the conflict with homas)” as anti …ect
First time listener and I'm captivated. I lost 6 dozen relatives in the first two weeks of slaughter but I don't know them personally but they carry my last name and were refugees from our city of residence in Palestine which they were driven from back around 48. 15 relatives were slaughtered in one incident 2 weeks ago all in one house mostly children.
"... not full of... "both sides bad" smug self-righteous BS" Instead, Giancarlo mounts a surreal defense of Hamas -- an Islamic jihad-based terrorist organization dedicated to the annihilation of Israel: 2:22 "Israel's done a great job of labeling any criticism of Hamas as antisemitic"

Jordanian American/new fan here. This is beautiful stuff lol. First visit to Jordan it hit me how beautiful it'll be when non racist/anti apartheid Jews can enjoy their homeland with a sense of pride and no aftertaste of ethnostate left behind in their mouth afterwards. Sholem aleichem wa as-salamu alaikum, ya khaal!
erm... what is the joke in that statement? isnt it just a fact? he was building the joke to deliver the punchline, it wasnt even a joke itself, or am i missing something?
Right, because if you made fun of Saudis using Islamophobic tropes that won’t be racist? Or sought out Jordanian/Yemeni/Pakistani business to harass and vandalize. It’s based on state so can’t possibly be racist . 97% of Saudi Arabia is muslim, same with Jordan, Yemen and the list goes on and on and on, but one country has 70ish percent Jews and everyone freaks out “ethno state!”
Defending them self against terrorists is not a crime - what Hamas is doing is. All this propaganda against Israel is the new blood libel. There is no genocide except what happened on Oct 7
"Israelis and Palestinians are like two people fighting over a pizza, while one of the two is already eating up the pizza." I heard this one sentence in a documentary about the conflict, it was an Israeli settler who said it. It shattered my faith in the two state solution.
Yeah Palestinians ordered the pizza and as it was coming out of the oven isreal showed up said I'm awfully hungry, how about you give me half that pizza. As isreal grabs hand fulls shoving it in its mouth. Why are you mad? Fine if your going to yell at me, maybe we can figure something out well I keep eating.
The 2 State "solution" (I have to use quotation marks because I do not think it would actually solve anything) has been dead for at least 15 of the 30ish years people have been talking about it, I don't know if it was an ok idea that went bad, or if it was always a bad idea
Someone messed up the captions. Where you said that "Israel's done a very good job of labelling any criticism of them as anti-semetic..." the captions said "hamas" instead of "them as" which completely changes the meaning of the sentence.
Ily so much for this bro. Thank you so much for being who you are. Being so open minded about so many topics, whether is lgbt or this or even your stands on other things. I think that's why its so easy to digest Ur comedy....its so funny yet so logical. Im such a fan
I'm an anarchist, I don't associate with liberals a lot. But when my anarchist friends say all liberals are pro genocide, I show them gianmarco. He's truly one of the very very very few liberals I respect, he has a heart AND a brain, which is extremely rare with liberals. Dude, huge respect! Love your comedy AND your morals
Not judging, legitimate question, why are your anarchist friends saying liberals are pro genocide? My understanding is that the liberals are very much against what's going on in Gaza. Just look at all the liberal college protests, for example. My understanding is also that the conservatives are very pro Israel and are typically the ones slinging the anti semitic responses. Am I missing something?
Is he truly liberal though? As he seems to be able to look past some of the stumbling blocks that liberals have difficulty with. Mostly he seems to accept that at least on some level the current system is broken.
If you want to say that having both a heart and a brain is extremely rare among the liberals you’ve met or personally heard from, fair enough, I can’t dispute that. But the phrasing you used sounds a lot like a perception that another group from the one you’re in has less diversity of thought than the one you happen to be part of, which is very often not the case, and is a claim that would usually require a lot of proof to back up.
not him clutching on the furry society for fame AGAIN.... 😂😂😂😂😂 Seriously tho, let's make him the king furry and he gets to wear it on stage every time....that's what all are here for tbh
But also, observing reality is not racism. Saying Jews dominate in business, government etc. is simple fact, not racism. Preventing people from observing reality because you don’t like how it reflects on you is illegitimate authoritarian control.
@@oravesassongirl beg for persecution elsewhere. He's quite literally a practicing Jew making the joke. Also hella Christian comedians make jokes at Christianity's expense. You're explicitly proving gianmarcos (and the avg person's) point that in the modern day in anglophone and other colonized countries even Jewish adjacent commentary that makes you uncomfy is labeled anti semitism
He said: "Israel is doing a very good job labelling any criticism of them as antisemitic" Text said: "Israel is doing a very good job labelling any criticism of Hamas as antisemitic" Apparently Israel is not doing a very good job hacking his subtitles.
This made me sad more than laugh. To think that we reached a place where there are people who need to understand that ending innocent lives and children's lives is bad through a joke just eats me inside. I love your stand-up comedy shows keep it up, i know it comes from a place of passion.
Brilliant! This is exactly what I was thinking when I heard the antisemitism accusation from the right wing media. That said, the left wing isn’t perfect either because they tend to paint a rosy picture for hamas. I hope to see a more balanced view on this issue.
On God, I am a leftist jew, I live in Israel and have been jailed for protesting against the current government. People who knew all of the above about me still posted pictures of Sinwar on their FB feed going "We lost a hero 😢" like BUDDY, this man killed thousands of innocent jews AND palestinians! The fuck are you onnnn
"hamas was in the tupperware" this was so hilarious but on a serious note it also hilights how rediculous the IDF and Israel gov can be rediculous to justify bombing refugee camps and hospitals
You’re getting a lot of hate here but I’ve never respected you more. I think it must be really hard to be an anti-Zionist jewish person and I hope you and other anti-Zionist Jewish people always feel like you have a supportive community around you.
“If you want to tell people the truth, you’d better make them laugh or they’ll kill you." Even in the 21st century we can see the value of the court jester, and why most arguing is so pointless (unless you want to make your opponent entrench themselves in their viewpoints).
I'm Muslim and I absolutely love Jewish people. It's wild how we co-existed well and peacefully in Palestine until 1948, then everyone forgets about friendliness and Zionism sweeps in like a plague. Really hope peace is found between both sides but Zionism doesn't seem to be yielding. The 2 plate solution and self-hating jokes were gold lmfao
Right, so non-Muslims living as dhimmis under Islam was "peace" for you. There are 22 Arab states and 45+ Muslims states with Christian and Muslim Arabs making up 21% of Israel's population and living with fully equal legal rights (as they should).
A big part of zionism's appeal was that there were already tensions between jews and the christian and muslim societies under which they lived. That doesn't excuse things like the nakba, but plenty of jews have intergenerational trauma from things that happened to their family in muslim societies. That's why there's still so much support for zionism
If college students were also protesting the Taliban’s oppression of women, China’s genocide against Uighurs, or the Fulani’s genocide of Christians, then maybe people wouldn’t accuse Israel critics of antisemitism.
College students don't have to tediously point out every wrongdoing in the world just for you to stop feeling like it's attacking you 😂 you know why the students protested? Cause their colleges were investing in Israel, divestment was the name of the game and what they were calling for the whole time
Western countries aren't funding China's genocide. People are protesting because it's their tax dollars that pay for the bombs that are tearing innocent children into pieces. How can you not understand this simple fact?

That is why Palestinians welcomed thousands of holocaust survivors and gave them refuge in their own homes right before the Nakba (only to be backstabbed by Zionists)
Antisemitism in the Muslim world is entirely due to Zionism.
@@jultejock7185 it's not cowardice, it's pure lie
Muslim countries really hate Jews before Israel was a thing
if Israel was made by those Jews I would totally support it but it was made by Germans and UE people

"Hamas was in the Tupperware" absolutely killed me and it's soo spot-on, you're great
Whenever I hear Hamas in a joke, I hear Sammy Obeid and his over pronunciation of the Israeli way of saying Hamas that's like Chamas. Such a silly thing that helps cut the tension
@@quart-knee-lee kkkhhamaaaasss
Hari Kondabolu is great.
Another great example of how good comedy is essentially getting people to laugh at terrible truths
so what The Onion did 15 years ago lol
@@beansoclock8748 They are resurfacing with their video content.

Instead, Giancarlo mounts a surreal defense of Hamas -- an Islamic jihad-based terrorist organization dedicated to the annihilation of Israel:
2:22 "Israel's done a great job of labeling any criticism of Hamas as antisemitic"
2:04 that scream at the punchline sums up why Gianmarco is my favourite comedian!
lol the captions say "label any criticism of Hamas as antisemitism"
That's a bad job by the captioner, I think what he actually said was "any criticism of hummus"

@@philipfairbanks678 Apartheid and ethnostate are two of the common lies about Israel.
People didn't laugh at "that's the problem with an ethnostate" because they were afraid it would be antisemitic 😂 that line was 10/10
erm... what is the joke in that statement? isnt it just a fact? he was building the joke to deliver the punchline, it wasnt even a joke itself, or am i missing something?
@@uIz_slc It wasn't a joke but it was on point
It's not really a joke so what would they be laughing at? It's definitely important to say, though.
@@uIz_slc The extremely strong wording right in the middle of the build-up is humorous.
I wish this was an exaggeration. But there’s a new article saying “criticizing I$rael’s crimes is blood libel” Insanity!
Well, if their crimes are just as or even more horrible than the imagination of some european psycho maniacs, there should be some questions asked
Defending them self against terrorists is not a crime - what Hamas is doing is. All this propaganda against Israel is the new blood libel. There is no genocide except what happened on Oct 7

“Labeling any criticism of them as antisemitic”

As a Palestinian , i love you ❤ thank you for using your platform
You just won a Syrian fan. Bravo! Well done.
The fact that the Arab rejected it like 6 times in the last century didn't shatter your faith?
@@zehnerevans7063the problem is Israel want all the land.
Wait, an Israeli settler said that? Were they bragging about eating the Pizza then?
Someone messed up the captions.
Where you said that "Israel's done a very good job of labelling any criticism of them as anti-semetic..." the captions said "hamas" instead of "them as" which completely changes the meaning of the sentence.
Thanks!
Sensible, honest, no beating around the bush and also funny as hell

I don't think he is a real liberal. He seems to be to the left of the democratic party, so probably no an anarchist but still a leftist.
But the phrasing you used sounds a lot like a perception that another group from the one you’re in has less diversity of thought than the one you happen to be part of, which is very often not the case, and is a claim that would usually require a lot of proof to back up.
i think Gianmarco may be hiding his power level. Just a little bit.
NO ITS NOT BECAUSE HE'S Jewish...

Anti-semitism is a particular species of racism. Zionism is a particular species of ethno-nationalism.
Right thinking people oppose both.
But also, observing reality is not racism. Saying Jews dominate in business, government etc. is simple fact, not racism. Preventing people from observing reality because you don’t like how it reflects on you is illegitimate authoritarian control.

And yet here you are despite the fact that college students have in fact protested all those things you just mentioned. 🤔
@ Can you point to examples?
College students don't have to tediously point out every wrongdoing in the world just for you to stop feeling like it's attacking you 😂 you know why the students protested? Cause their colleges were investing in Israel, divestment was the name of the game and what they were calling for the whole time
Western countries aren't funding China's genocide. People are protesting because it's their tax dollars that pay for the bombs that are tearing innocent children into pieces. How can you not understand this simple fact?
It's interesting how people can only protest if they conform to impossible standards, almost like you just want to slander protesters
I like this guy's jokes 😂
I LOVE this bit so much! Funny but also packs a punch
Haven’t laughed so much in ages …
