How does the audio compare between a single Sonos Move used in a medium sized room, and a stereo paired set of two Sonos One's in the same medium sized room?
I have Sonos in my entire house. 5 zones of which one is the full home theater And another is a high end stereo setup. Superb system all around. Use it everyday. My one challenge with Sonos has always been that I can't listen to TH-cam videos on them...just my phone. With this Bluetooth setup, I should (in theory) be able to play any TH-cam video And the sound will come out of the speaker.
Totally agree with Phildirt3 below.... I bought 2 Move speakers for stereo. These units kept dropping my WiFi signal. I even did a factory reset. When they worked they were a joy - nice sound. I controlled the music selection on my iPhone, changed treble, bass, balance and picked out songs throughout my music library. But they wouldn't stay connected. I had to try to reconnect. I found only one speaker would connect and play - even though the Bluetooth list on my iPhone (finally) said that both speakers were connected. I could get the left to work but not the right. Then I could get the right to work but not the left. I futzed with the app and the speakers over and over. Then the Sonos app itself wouldn't work (basically a blank/shaded screen with grayed out boxes). There was NOTHING wrong with my home WiFi signal. This is NOT new technology ! This crap is just supposed to work - and when it doesn't I reach my limit of patience. I'm returning these (very expensive) speakers tomorrow and I'll replace them with easy, reliable 1980's technology of hardwired speakers.
4:52 Well, the Sonos Move can be grouped with any other Sonos speaker, but please notice that the WiFi signal comes from the strongest Sonos speaker in the group then. The signal the Move receives is therefore weaker and this will lead to many interruptions on the Move, while other (cabled) Sonos speakers will experience no sound output problems. Demonstrated here: th-cam.com/video/c0Fqiyf3eQs/w-d-xo.html For that reason, the Move is a nice but too expensive stand-alone speaker. It requires product improvement to be real part of the Sonos family.
I would have bought this except it has no 3.5mm connection, I wanted to connect it to my portable dab walkman style radio via the headphone jack in the case of power and or internet outage. but that wont work in this case :(
See, this isn't just a Bluetooth speaker though. It is far more powerful than almost any bluetooth speaker we've reviewed, plus it predominantly works over Wi-Fi. It isn't quite fair to call this just a Bluetooth speaker.
@@AppleInsider You're right.. The whole point of this device is that it's works in the amazing sonos ecosystem also. Seeing it at just a Bluetooth speaker is not faire. But is is expensive

I had the choice of either the Sonos Move or the Bose 500 Smart speaker as a company gift. Went to Best Buy and compared them to each other and went with the Bose. I am not really a Bose fan and really wanted to like the Sonos but the Sonos did not compare with the sound quality of the Bose. I consider myself somewhat of an audiophile and the Sonos (to me) just sounded thin and cold with a very high base frequency. The Bose, on the other hand the was warm and inviting with the bass being deep enough that I could "feel" the music if I stood within a few feet of the speaker.
Just purchased the Sonos Move but got very disappointed when I compared the sound to my old HK Onyx 3 that sounds much better and richer. Doesn't matter if the Sonos has WIFi and Voice assistant support if the sound isn't great. I played around with EQ but nothing helped. Will return my Sonos and continue looking for something with better sound...
If I enable Alexa and don’t have any other Alexa in the house can I use this to say turn on my lights given I have a smart plug? Ie, can this be used as an expensive amazon Alexa?
Yup! It will operate like a louder, more powerful Sonos One that you can then pick up at any time and use throughout your home, on your patio, or take it with you and use Bluetooth.
@@AppleInsider THank you. I have been looking at the Bose 500 as well, but have seen some nasty reviews about connections. I use Google, Alexa, and Apple for music...and stuff
I have just purchased it and tested it in my living room; the sound quality remembers the first Bose portable speakers: very, very light bass, low power volume at maximum level: the play one, and play five sound much better. In my opinion the new Sonos series are decreasing in terms of sound quality and power. On the other hand the connectivity is extremely fast. I returned it to the shop. The only valuable Sonos speakers are Sonos Play One (now SL...), Play Five, the Playbar and of course the famous sub. Stay away from all new, cheaper models.
Can Sonos Move use AirPlay 2 without WiFi? Apple TV doesn’t require WiFi to use AirPlay 2. This has been an annoyance for years.... 20 people at the pool, calls come in and the music stops!! 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
