Not at all O.D Wilson should’ve beat him at the 1990 world’s strongest man. He decimated the entire field until the last event. A longer distance I want to say 200 meter run with bricks 100kg on his back which he failed to complete. Which is more of an endurance feet than strength. Unfortunately the world’s strongest man competition isn’t won by the strongest man due to the competitions they incorporate. Rest in peace to both athletes though.
Whilst it's debateable whether Jon Pall was the greatest strongman of all time, I think most would agree he was the most likeable strongman. I had no idea Jon Pall was also a professional bodybuilder, a fact that just makes his strongman accomplishments even greater! Having to keep losing weight for the bodybuilding, and then putting it back on for strongman must have been very harsh on his body. This documentary was wonderful. Inspiring and very sad at the same time. And that carton drink advert was hilarious! R.I.P. Jon Pall, a legend both as a strongman and a human being.
@old man strength apparently the Dutch former worlds strongest man, ted van der parre had the lowest Bmi of all the wsm winners at 35 at a height of 6ft10 160kg
They are eternal. RIP Jon Pall it wasn't just what he won is how he lived and respectfully was a huge personality not just to Iceland but to the whole world. He is definitely missed, they don't make them like those athletes of the past, pure dedication and sheer will to win, even overcoming injuries throughout the competition. Respect
The Norns had decreed, that Jón Páll should not live to grow old and weak. He was given to the Gods at his best age. He should have a skaldic poem written about him!
I just watched the old strongmen competitions and honestly Jon Pall Sigmarsson is my favourite of all time now. Thank you for sharing this I can't wait to watch.
I have started love and watch this sport from 2002, however time after time i have tryed to watch old competitions also, and I would like to say that now it is my life, and it all thanks for man like he! IT IS A GREAT SPORT AND GREAT SPORTSMENS, I WANT TO SAY THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL OF THEM, BLESS US GOD
What a beautiful documentary, thanks for the upload. The one and only. His drive and burst of power is what always motivated me. Watching him in WSM with the way he did the challenges, he made it look easy. Just so amazing. Such a legend that so many WSM contestants and champions look up to. RIP!
Great documentary! Lots of info that I never came accross trying to learn about Jon Pall via the internet, so yeah, very informational! "There is no reason to be alive if you cant deadlift" lmao

@@Michael-yi2vw calm down its only strongman banter.besides why would we believe in a god that has forsaken us by letting greed and violence prevail on earth and makes war and oppression on all other religions the past thousand years???
Even though I'm not that much into strong man stuff but this man is (or was) so great, I have a lot of respect for him. I remember him, though I had to google for his name but still, I kinda remembered his country or so, so it was easy to find. He might be even better than Jouko Ahola and all the others, he might be the best of them all - unfortunately he died too soon. But he was very good, he was! Very strong man. Cheers...
Skyr, cold fish, bananas, walnut in blender. Till it was full. Jon drank it with a smile. Breakfast of champions. 6000 cal day min. 10,000 cal per day to be his big self.
They should really market skyr in the united states of america. They would make a fortune selling it. Even Thor's Icelandic vodka. They need to jump on it.
The flesh is weak. It's sad that this man died young. But foolish for people to refer to a man of flesh as a God. There is only one God, like it or not. Grow up people.
Y is Jon Palls son sigmar a Nobody right now? If my dad was WSM4x I would become someone great to honour my dad and Not a nobody especially how he Died...
Sigmar is not a nobody. He is a much loved son, grandson, brother, cousin and friend. His father would be proud of all that he has achieved. Strength sports was only one small part of JP's character, the rest which family and friend's were privileged to see and be a part of was where his true strength and talent lay. That is what his son possesses.
Much respect to this legendary strongman. He transcended the business from being almost a taboo into mainstream success. He was the forerunner to the modern strongmen of today where aerobic power meant more than traditional lifts. Was he the strongest man in the world or of all time? No, but he was damn close. Only Kazmaier and Paul Anderson (imho) could say they were better. Jesus bless.
Any time I need inspiration or motivation, I always come back to this documentary. Long live the viking!
Tanner Ringley third time here
I watch this when I'm feeling down, injured, or need that pump...JPS lives in each and everyone of us...
I lift because of this great man
jon pall sigmarsson is truly my favorite strongman of all time
He was a true viking in every sense of the word. A great man taken too soon, but thankful for him to have been.
He's Strongman's favorite strongman of all time also.
Easily the strongest personality on the strongman circuit; a HUGE loss. RIP Jon Pall. No-one will ever replace you.

Ignore what I said I didn’t see you said personality I thought you said person my mistake. You’re absolutely correct
'He was doing the thing he loved, when he left the earth'
That's the Best way to describe life in my opinion.
Takk endalaust fyrir að elska Palla bróðir minn , takk. 😘😊❤🧚♀️
Greatest strongman ever and my idol
A true Viking.
Was blessed to have visited Jón Páll's grave today. What a legend. Rest in Peace.
I went to his grave and paid my respects a couple of weeks ago! He inspired me to fitness which changed my life. In Valhalla, see you Jon Pall!
Great man, the world lost a great character when we lost Jon Pall Sigmarsson.

Maybe a bit, but he was way better than the vast majority of people are. A good person overall which makes it an even bigger loss.
