DIY Push Pole Version 3.0. This is the third DIY push pole build and hopefully the last. I used a plastic covered closet rod sold at Home Depot. Because they come in lengths of 8' I purchased two and used a two foot length of PVC to join the two pieces. This replaced the heavy Aluminum tube that I used in the second version. Total cost $50.

Great video Steve as always. Just a hint,throw some paint on your t-handle,pvc doesn't have any UV protection,and the sun will cause it to become brittle over time. I learned the hard way.

I just got an 8ft extendable painter’s pole and inserted a dollar pool noodle on it so it floats. I can adjust it up to 16 ft and I cost me around $25.

Would a 8ft to 16ft telescopic pool pole from Home Depot work for you? Foam it for rigidity and buoyancy.

buy a cheap pole-vault from a sports dealer
$50 for a pole is not very cheap.. How much are they sold for? Another thing that you could try is using pvc pipes and inserting a smaller one into a larger one (e.g., 1/2" into 1") for rigidity.
