One For My Baby

Song no. 15 From My Living Room-One For My Baby. This is one of the greatest torch songs in the literature with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by Johnny Mercer. The song was originally written for Fred Astaire in 1943 for the film The Sky's the Limit. The movie wasn't very good (as Margaret Whiting told me personally)Fred Astaire plays a tap dancing test pilot. The song went on to become one of Sinatra's signatures. The arrangement I'm playing is based on the Bill Miller arrangement created for Sinatra. Miller was Sinatra's pianist. This incredible song of unrequited love also had a chance to shine when Bette Midler sang it to Johnny Carson in the next to last Tonight Show-in my opinion one of the great moments in television.

On of the greatest standards of ALL TIME. My pop was a jazz pianist, and I grew up watching him play in the restaurants and clubs since I was a child. This song always reminds me of going to see him play. Well done, and very, very classy, Thank you so much for playing this, sir!

Sure..purchase an IPad Pro which has a 12.9 inch screen and an airturn pedal. A Bluetooth device that lets you turn pages with your foot.
