Totally agree. Skin adjusting foundations match roughly a medium skintone, which, surprise, is not me. Usually, the coverage is light, to give a tiny bit more wiggle room. But for me, I'm way too far removed from a medium skintone.
I really don't understand the appeal of pH adjusting make up. Changes depending on your pH? We do all know that human skin pH is not that different from person to person, right? Variations are not even a few percents. So you know, it's all going to be pink. Just buy a pink lipstick.
Keep 'em coming, Jenny, I love these kind of video's

Haha! I love how you said, "You know it's all going to be pink. Just buy a pink lipstick." 😂 One of my favorite things about you is how you get right to the point! ❤️ That's one of the reasons I love discussing makeup with you so much! I know you'll tell me exactly what you think. I LOVE that! 💕 Have a great day Marielle! 🌷

So, based on your description, the new skin perfector from Cover Girl would be a color changing foundation. I really love this new foundation and I'm 57. I burst the beads. It's on my hand and then pick it up with a dense kubuki brush my skin looks really good.

Hi Randilynn! 🙂 I’m SO GLAD you brought this up! ❤️ Thank you for your wonderful comment! I’m actually a fan of the new Covergirl foundation with beads too! 😍 you are absolutely right that the “micro droplets“ contain pigment, while sitting within a serum in the bottle. I personally consider this foundation from Covergirl to be different from shade adjusting foundations because they not only offer several shades (and bottles we can thankfully see through at the drugstore to pick out a correct shade) but also they make no claims that the shade will “change or adjust” to fit a persons specific skin tone, the way the shade-adjusting foundations I’m speaking about in the video do. Again, thank you SO much for bringing up this excellent point, and allowing me to clarify! I hope you have an absolutely beautiful day! ❤️🌸☀️🥰

I agree 100% with you, Jenny. Whenever I see these ads, I know that there won't be a shade for my pale skin....but if I went by what the ads say, I SHOULD be able to go buy one! And the fact that these foundations aren't available for POC is very upsetting. These ads come very close to "crossing the line" and some may have gone all the way, like the brand that shared the influencer's video. Thank you for doing a deep dive into these products, and giving us the true facts. Hopefully your video will save some people from buying a product that won't work for them, as always you are looking out for all of us!
What excites me are the brands who are showing unfiltered videos of the models' real skin applying the products. At least in that respect, some brands are moving in the right direction!!! I love these videos, and look forward to more "investigative" videos!

I think it's a clever way for them to convince us that their range of colors is broader than it actually is.
As one of those on the super fair end of the spectrum, I learned long ago, this dream wasn't for me. In fact, I have had the opposite problem: finding a shade that looks like it will be light enough... only to have it oxidize and darken. 😟
I'm not a fan of color change lipstick or blush, either. They tend to land somewhere between fuchsia and magenta on me. 😱
That said, we can all be grateful that manufacturers are expanding their shade ranges daily. The five or six options available in the '80s when I was a teen were pitiful.😂

    • @foundationlady
      @foundationlady  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yessss! You are so right! The shade ranges used to be SO much less inclusive than they are now. That is definitely a reason to be grateful for where we are now. ❤️ Thank you for reminding me of that! 🥰 Hope you're having a great weekend Kelly!! 🌷

Perbelle is like this in a way. It is a CC Cream and there are options but not a good range, mostly light, medium and dark. I really liked it because it did look good on me but you are 100% correct. I have light medium in the winter and medium in the summer. It is a marketing gimmick although it did work for me but I can't say it would work for everyone.

Hi Christine! 🤗 Thanks so much for your comment! ❤️ I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you My family is moving out of state, and we've been in the midst of packing, and selling out house etc.
But anyway, when you look at the inside of your arm, do your veins look blue? or blue green? if blue, I would say you are probably cool toned. if blue green, then neutral.
Also do you tend to wear silver or gold jewelry? silver = cool toned gold= more warm toned...
With that said, some of my favorite cool (and neutral) toned foundations from the drugstore are from No. 7, L'oreal, and Revlon. I find that those three brands typically offer the best options in terms of finishes (i.e. matte, dewy, satin, etc.)
As far as High-end goes, I would check out, Bobbi Brown, Armani (particularly luminous silk) Bobbi Brown, and Haus Labs. All 4 of those brands have lovely options for finishes as well.
Also, if you are near an ULTA recently a brand came out called: The Performer, Skin Caring Foundation from "About Face Cosmetics".... what I think you might like about this band is that they not only have wonderful undertone options for those of us with cool or neutral undertones, but it also has a finish (not matte at all) that I think you might like?
I'll link my video to that foundation here if you'd like to see it in action!
      th-cam.com/video/QKXMgO9Qw6o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bsrJwKET3PEhpAJw

I remember seeing someone demoing some brand on self-adjusting foundation. That was 5yrs ago. Thought about trying it, but changed my mind. Seems I'd rather see the colour of what I'm choosing than a white or green base with a coloured swatch on a piece of paper. Not the most reliable. Even if I do fall in the typical category. It's like OK, you do you boo. I'll stick to what I can actually see. I know my undertone (2W/w/yellow undertone) and those as far as I'm concerned won't give it. Most will be in neutral and I don't find it always very flattering on me. I guess in a long winded way, these companies who flog this, won't make money from me over that kind of formula. LOL!

Hi Christine! ☺️Thank you so much for your lovely comment! ❤️❤️❤️ To answer your question, I have a neutral undertone, meaning I have a combination of warm and cool undertones. Also if it’s helpful, if you click on my description box (on pretty much any of my videos) and scroll down, I have a list of foundation shades that best fit me, so hopefully, you might be able to see if we are a close match!! 🥰 If you have any orations about what your undertone may be, just reply to this comment, and I’ll help you figure it out! ❤️😘

I’ve honestly never heard of this kind of foundation. My experience is that anything I put on my face pulls a certain shade because of my particular skin tone. But that being said, I would intuitively never trust a claim that a color changing foundation would match my skin tone. However, I have to say that I am fundamentally wary of advertising claims period.

Hi, thank you for this very relevant video.
I think if these formulations keep coming back for a couple reasons. First and foremost, testing our ph. Maybe you do it in the US, but in France we never do, and it should probably be taken care of as often as checking blood pressure or heart rate. Secondly asking ourselves what might differ from one person to the next beside shade or oiliness level, because those beads don’t actually turn into the exact same shade on different people. Maybe it could have something to do with pollution level in the air or toxines in food and water... Who knows?🩺🙀🧫
