I have never heard of this play before. I think that the premise is very unique. I did not expect a podcast about 'waiting' to really catch my interest! Thanks Overthink

Waiting is the only thing one can do without doing anything. Reading Godot, one feels claustrophobic, trapped in the present with no past and the illusion of a future that never appears. Memory is constantly invoked in a form a forgetting. In this play there is nothing to remember and the only semblance of future, in the form of Godot, never arrives.

I got it, we possess time as time possesses us: "They also serve who only stand and wait (John Milton). I cannot resist also quoting the King Richard II. quote, "I wasted my time, now time doth waste me." Time seems obsessed with us, not we with it. Thanks both, this is fun!

I also appreciate your thoughts on Walter Benjamin's and Jacques Derrida's thoughts on Messianic Time.

I've been looking for the Camus quotation you dropped in early in the podcast. Ellie said "The absurd is born of this confrontation between the human need FOR MEANING and the unreasonable silence of the world. " Doesn't the original quotation (in English trans) leave out the "for meaning" part? Thanks for your podcastings,

It is said by Anthony Cronin that Beckett pronounced Godot as God-oh.

i think Philosophy is waiting .Waiting for Sophia ( wisdom for wisdom ) though she never comes but your mind still searches for the love of her !( of course as metaphor as Sophia is)

Depends what you are interested in - the most traditional view would probably say something like Plato's Republic, but philosophy is so broad with so many areas within it that you can start in whatever sounds cool to you. What are you looking for within philosophy, what sorts of questions interest you?

You can start with some "History of philosophy" for exemple Anthony Kenny's history of philosophy. So you will be informed about the main philosophers and from there you can read them or about them.
