This game was so much fun to me as a kid the online when it got shutdown made me so sad I remember deleting and reinstalling thinking my game was bugged when that notification popped up only to look it up and realise they shut it down 😥

Haven't touched this in years.. Turned my ps3 on recently and saw it and was wondering what happened to it..

It was around for 3 years and then they gave up on it. This story though hits close to home. The same thing happened to Total War: Arena. I think it lasted maybe 1 year from it’s official launch and then they terminated it because Wargaming wanted to do its thing with it (not their game, but contracted to be the online launcher and marketer for it). So now the only version of it that exists is in the Chinese market because they didn’t have China region when they worked with Wargaming but can’t release it elsewhere until that contract is up and even then, they might not due to success rate.
At least i can still hear the intro music when i turn it on

man i miss dust 514 cause its one of the few games where you could be doing other things besides just the FPS thing. like after dying a few times, i would switch to a dropship main so i could fly into sneaky areas so my team could spawn in and take objectives much easier, and doing that was just as fun as doing the spawning in and killing. shame it had to end

The closest thing we got these days is planetside 2 ... which. Is also very good imo. Btw tip for any who can't run the pc version ps4 is almost always smooth as butter. Have to go to their site on your ps4 to get it but it's free on all it's platforms and loads of fun.

eve player here, i was waiting for this game to come to pc, to play it, but that never came
remember helping dusties with bombardement, we had to get ship to the planet orbit and survive there long enough(if enemies were around) to be able to help, great times, miss them
That was the best... And EVE wonders why all their players are leaving. The game USED to be MORE fun than what it is today.

@@per2 When you think about a lot of the things they took away, like the connection with DUST514, Captains Quarters and the walking in stations that they completely abandoned, Cloaking used to be WAY BETTER, Invention is pretty much gone, EVE Voice, Faction Warfare, Blueprint Lottery, Multi Character Training (you now need to pay extra for that), I could go on.. they removed a lot of stuff and made a lot of things, like Destroyers irrelevant. They'd come out with a feature, someone would abuse it or someone would complain it was overpowering someone and they'd go and bork it. Look at the "Chaos" thing where they took away Local in Null-Sec so you can't see if someone shows up in the system. If I was alone and I'd see someone in Local, I'd be extra cautious, maybe take an alternate route to the gates... now you simply don't know. They did this to get rid of Bots... They can't tell if someone is botting in the game?? In the meantime, Elite Dangerous already has an Alpha that can give players the chance to do "Dust Like" play on the planets, right in the game.

Pc would of been stupid! The point of it being console exclusive is all these players are your mercenaries. Sadly too many cryhards couldn’t understand that concept and political CCP asshats killed this great game.
Imagine MMORPG’s where you get to choose exactly how you want to build your character. Full regen build, speed build, dps builds, Tank, Assassin, etc... Now make that a sandbox shooter. That was DUST514. In game you had fully customizable character traits like Armor(Able to be Healed by Teammates), Shields(Auto-Regen Over-Time), DPS, Movement Speed, hell you could even increase the rate at which you healed teammates. You could go invisible, choose exactly what type of weapon you wanted in exactly whatever type of character build you wanted. You want vehicles? We’ve got the epic, super fast and deadly HMV’s with an extremely effective 50cal on the back. Don’t want a 50 cal? Change it. Wanna play a fat anti-air infantry with a heavy, yet powerful Railgun capable of decimating enemy vehicles and infantry? DUST514 has that. Want a MINIGUN? Sniper? Super fast, Invincibility-Abusing, knife only wielding assassin? Well guess fucking what! Not anymore! Not any fucking more 😭!

Man this game was such a unique experience. I remember my family couldn’t afford to buy me any new games for my PS3 as a kid so I downloaded this game. I got my ass kicked a LOT but it was one of the first shooters I really got into and helped pique my interest in futuristic shooters and warfare
Just port it onto the ps4 with updated graphics and fixed glitches and I’d be a happy man

They need to do a collab with the planetside guys, imagine Eve and planetside in one game, plus the ship part of Eve it would be insane

i dont myself miss the currency, lol i stole like 45 million tho from this neckbeard who made me admin of his corp so that funded my dropships. dust punished the pilots with low XP gains. in PS2 the devs do not hate vehicles and do not punish the pilots. pilot is actually one of the fastest ways to level up in PS2 but in 514 it was the worst, all their devs they rotated reeked of inexperience and unable to take standard roastings from COD fans they jumped thru hoops for. the COD fans demanded vehicles be reduced to paper and they got it done a couple months before shut down. the final dev used to boast in forums about nerfing vehicles, then got shut down soon after. they replaced their entire dev team with an ass clown.
I remember the heated rivalries between clans and guilds. I remember the tanks. The tanks were sooooo much fun with upgrades. The gun combat and having a tree to upgrade was really unlike anything else. I miss it. And I hope they do something again in the futurr

I loved this game, even now I am searching for a game like this, couldn't find shit. I played mostly as a sniper or a heavy machine guy. The team work on this game was awesome, even though I didn't know anyone in the team.
everyone had a role and unlike most games. Players knew how to play their role. a truly great game

This game. This game was one of the first games I came across when I got my PS3 and made my first PSN account. I spent hours and hours playing when I got home from school. It was magical, Thank you to all of you who played and especially to you who made this video. I hope everyone enjoyed this game
Dust 514 was amazing. I loved the tank on tank battles. The airships flying around by people who could barely fly them. Being a medic and getting people back up. The maps were so massive. Truly an amazing game.

I miss this game so f***ing much... nothing comes anywhere near being like it. I played it as a kid and didn't understand what the actual hell I was doing, but god damn it I was having a blast!

DUST 514 had some of the most unique and satisfying firearms in all of gaming. The Flaylock Pistol is so memorable even after almost a decade.
Even though DUST514 was Free to Play, I spent a ton of money buying upgrade packs, Aurum, all kids of stuff. I'd say at a minimum $200.00 and I know A LOT of other players who at minimum would buy the $99.00 deluxe packs as well. The reason it wasn't available on XBox was because XBox wanted too much money to host on their "XBox Live" service. The main reason it was cancelled on the PS3 wasn't because of the game itself wasn't making money, the real reason is because CCP had gotten a lot of criticism for the sub par graphics in the game (the game took so long to develop, but the time it came out it was dated). Another issue is that they released the game just 1 and a half years before the PS4 came out, which meant that most PS3 players, especially the ones who actually spent money were now moving to the PS4. Unfortunately, when the PS4 first came out it wasn't backward compatible to the PS3. CCP was going to upgrade the graphics for a PS4 version, however since Sony decided to change their business model to one resembling XBox the fees were going up dramatically for the PS4 version so instead they decided to concentrate on Project Legion, the PC version of the game. So just 3 years after the game came out, it was shut down and shortly afterwards Project Legion was shut down in favor of yet another name for a PC version which of course never came out! What's crazy is that both XBox and Sony has now reversed course on opening up their servers for cross platform play and Sony has now made the PS4 backwards compatible, so if CCP would have just hung in there a bit longer (you know like how they did with EVE when it first came out and was absolute CRAP that no one played) They could have made this thing a winner, just like they did with EVE. Truth is the 1.3 update was ALREADY DONE and they never released it, they just simply decided to give up. What's crazy is that one of the reasons they had for shutting it down was because it was a free to play model, yet they switched to that SAME MODEL for Eve online just about a year later!
Nostalgia of ratting our with a pistol/c4/ knife setup and racking up millions of creds, that I never got to flex with.
Man, I want it back.

07 dust is still my favorite game of all time. Rest in pepperonis. One day i hope to become wealthy enough, that i could hire a team to re-create this game. it was amazing. Shame on CCP for selling out to a korean company, that just wanted to go mobile.
It was fucking awesome bro.. My favorite game on ps3. I now have a ps5 and still no games seem to come close to Dus 514.. I was an Amarr legion medic guy who always healed and revived people.

Hell yeah, I remember the ridiculous armour you could put on a heavy and you couldn't jump for shit. And plastering a repair tool on a scout if you had space was a godsend. Often found myself ubercharging a blueberry going nuts and praying they get me out of this mess.

Glad to say I was a part of this. I specialized in moving my fellow troops from one side of the map to the other in this flying vehicle transport, this game was so so so much fun and is truly missed

Oh my days I fucking loved this game, days and days of pubs and PCs(Planetary Conquest), and raging when I died in a 800k isk loadout 5 times😂. But still going 30/5.

Aside from Vanguard a group of fans are reviving this game on PS3, right now is only a private server but they will make it public in a couple of months. You will probably need a modded PS3 to play it.
This sounds interesting. Would you happen to know if a PS3 emulator would be compatible with the private server?
@@PsySlik From what I have seen on other PS3 revival servers like, Metal Gear Online, StarHawk and Socom Confrontación they should work with emulators and on those you can even play against PS3 players. I personally only tried them on a real PS3.
This game randomly popped in my head again and man did I love this game! I was late to the party for PS3 and this was my #1 game when I got one. This game was like no other and I wish it would come back
I hated the day I logged on and it was no where to be found. Since its removal, I haven't looked up any additional information on the game but, like today, it has run across my mind over the years. Given how the game is almost like an urban legend now, I'm glad I got to participate and thankful that I still have a pic from a session of my spot on its leader board. A gaming 'I was there...' moment. I still get pissy about its withdrawal. I was a beast and haven't really played anymore battle royale games.
Me and a buddy played this from the beta till the end, loved it.
I think one of the best things about dust was the risk and reward system when using expensive dropsuits. If you didn't have more of them or earn enough ISK to restock, then you couldn't just respawn with the same gear. You had to know what equipment to use and when. I loved the amarr ak.0 prototype assault dropshot with darths scrambler rifle.
I played this game with my brother all the time. Because we were in middle school also gaming wasn't rally a thing in my family. So since it was free i played ton of it. It was so much fun even with me being not understanding a single thing on the screen. (My english was really bad lol)

I want that good TTK feel where it's not instant death and both feels gratifying to kill people and isn't just an instant death game with full customization of characters. I miss DUST so much. They could release the same game with updated graphics and I'd still play.
IMO. Bests FTP FPS ever made. Nothing has compared to the depth of this game since. It was a huge mistake from CCP to not continue on with this. I played to the very last match when they shut off the server. To all the Forgotten soldiers we will fight again. Signing out cupcake 666 art of death

I remember playing this a few years before the game was shut down. I honestly wish they bring it back but I know that won't happen. Just watching this video reminds of the fun I had. Even somehow killing an HAV with a shotgun cause i kept running around a pole and the person just kept chasing me.
I loved that game, it was very special for a lot of things, the vehicles, the classes, the weapons, and the hackable structures, like the turrets, or the respawnpoins, it was amazing
best part is making a second account, leaving it for a month and coming back to mad stacks (cos of the daily money it generates you)

I played dust from day 1 of the closed beta. Also a long-time eve player. I dropped strikes on my own matches playing both games at once. If the strikes were properly done it was a huge boon to the boots on the ground. You could wipe the entire enemy position once every 3 minutes. Once some pirates came to interrupt my orbital strikes but they were so fascinated with what's going on that they decided to stick around and watch instead of fighting me. Such great emergent content. Still waiting for the second coming. I will thumbs-up any content related to the game.
I really would love to see a sequel to this title for the new consoles, PS5 and XB Series X.
CCP really managed to make an interesting game. And the new consoles would warrant a sequel - if CCP were interested.

My older brother and I were some of the only ones playing this game. No one we knew played it, I think it's rather unfortunate that it didn't get that popular, but I honestly wish that CCP didn't have to rely too much on paying money to customize your character so you could afford the best weapons and upgrades. I mean they could have been the pioneers for a battle royale. Imagine that Dust 514 being a spotholder rather than Fortnite lmao

i remember being a little drooling toddler at the age of three, playing on my dad's ps3, and somehow i came across this game. I would always load into matches and literally have no idea how to play. its been around 12 years since the last time i've seen this game, and i've been looking all over for it. Glad i can actually see playable gameplay for the first time lmao

I barely thought anyone on youtube would ever even cover this game. Played it only a handful of times when I was in my first year of university in 2014-2015 and got hooked. Unfortunately got too busy with school but for some reason, the ambience of this game, the aesthetic, soundtrack when you're about to deploy, AI sounds, gunplay, customization capability, all of them were truly out of this world that I wish I played longer, had I known this would be taken down.

Yeah, after Dust on ps3 is switched to star wars battlefront 2 on the ps2. Now there's a pc version, which i hope to one day aquire when i get the funds. Still, nothing quite fills the gap of Dust 514.
