  • Spinning reels are often considered as beginners reels for bass fishing, or for people who can't use a casting reel. While a lot of us did start out with a spinning reel, I still use one every time I'm on the water. Here are 5 EXCELLENT options to add to your arsenal, or to pick up for your first reel. Enjoy!
    All reels are linked below:
    Shimano Vanford 2500 - $250

My Diawa tatula MQ LT is by far the best reel I've used under 300 bucks. That includes my Shimano vanguard

i see you left out daiwa, the LT series of daiwas, from the cheapest crossfire to the more expensive like the ballistic, the tatula or other super high end reels, are solid choices and the best reels on their respective price brackets..

I'm a big fan of the Vanford for area trout fishing. As I live in Japan, if anyone or their friends happen to be planning a visit, then the Sahara is about 7,000 yen ($50). If you have the chance, then stock up! Though I mainly use Shimano, reels the new Daiwa Legalis is also a great deal.

I have a Shimano solstice that’s over 20yrs old. Never cleaned it, I just change line on it every now and then. I’ve never had any issues with it and guess what, it still catches fish.

I have two 4000 sized Shimano spinning reels with 40# Power Pro and two 2500 sized spinning reels with 10# and 6# mono on them.
The 10# I use for bass fishing mostly drop shooting as and the 6# for small lures and panfish one day each year. I catch one hundred bluegills in one day and that enough panfish for the year except for when I go catfishing.
I can usually just buy some wax worms and trade them to some kids for a bunch of tiny bluegills for cut bait.

    There's a brand new Stradic!
As for me, if you fish quite a bit, don't buy cheap- buy good, solid, tight toleranced reels. Yes, it will cost you, but the investment will be well worth it. Once you get to fish with a mid and top tier reel, you will never go back. The cast is prestine, the start-up inertia and lure presentation will catch you more fish, and the drag will out last the fish!

I have the Abu Garcia Revo X. Got on sale for $90 I think at bass pro shops last spring. Let’s just say it’s an awesome reel except the bail wire came lose. I sent in under warranty and to my surprise all they did was tried to repair it and they did not even fix it. I’m sending it back for the second time and if not fixed this time I’m never using Abu Garcia products again and will be switching to all shimano reels both spinning and baitcasting.

I spend one hundred dollars on a reel, use it for ten years then give it to some kid out fishing in a public area with parents permission. .
I alternate between bait casters which I spend a little more on than spinning reels so I get new reels every five years alternating between bait casters and spinning reels. I always get Shimano spinning and Abu Garcia bait casting. Usually four of each

I own 4 vanfords .in my opinion the best reel ive fished with. And yes they still sell the stradic i own one and its super smooth. But for $50 more a reel the vanfords are worth it

Shimano has always been the best when it comes to spinning reels but I also like Pflueger.

    • @madtownangler
      @madtownangler 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Pflueger handles spin off when they get bumped when you walk around.
If I was willing to super glue the handles on I would stop buying Shimano.
I had someone run down the street and give me a handle back from a Pflueger I had once upon a time
It took two years before I could order a new handle for another one.

It's really hard to truly get a "very good" reel in that price point. The reels you showcased are disposable, use it for 1, 2, maybe 3 years and throw them away. If you want a reel that will last, you need to get into a Vanford, Balistic or Tatula. If you want a reel that is in that $80 range, Daiwa Legalis. As a matter of fact, all of the Daiwas from Legalist up are nice, smooth and stand the test of time and take a beating. Piscifun are complete junk, do not waste your money on them. I owned 8 carbon X's at one point, they are all gone. They are a $50 disposable reel. If you fish 5 times a year, any of the reels above will suit you fine. If you plan on being on the water 25+ times a year, buy better stuff, it will save you money in the end.
I"ll also add, the idea that spinning reels have no place in bass fishing is truly just a myth. Look at the top guys fishing the elite series the last few years. it used to be 15 rods laying up front with all bait casters, now it's all spinning reels. Just pointing that out.

I’d agree to a point. I’ve got saharas that have outlasted ci4 Stradics. They get all get used more than 25 days a year by far. Cheap doesn’t mean terrible and expensive doesn’t mean great ( in some cases). I could showcase high end only stuff, but the overwhelming majority of people who fish aren’t spending $500+ on any combo.
