This comment is extremely stupid. Bad practical effect make a movie NOT believable. And this scene features CGI as well as practical effects. Movies lie Jurassic Park, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Gladiator are FULL of CGI and people like you watch them without noticing the cgi then talk about how great the practical effects were, when the CGI was so good that you thought it was real.
GOOD effects make movies believable. Practical or CG. If you actually knew how much CG effects you see in movies today without even realizing it, it would blow your mind.
Well all terminators know about the human enatomy in and out it makes them more efficient terminators, and seeing that the t-1000 knows that the past t-800 was destroyed by her she has developed as a person, the t-1000 is trying to manipulate her by saying "he knows it hurts" cause he knows the human nerve endings and is showing that he not tricked by her tough persona or he trying to break her tough persona
@@carlstanley3718 I think skynet was very careful by not mass producing t-1000 and kept it as a prototype cause I don't think t-1000 has a cpu chip so skynet can't switch off it's learning mode
@@carlstanley3718 I think he was deliberately beginning to show mercy to Sarah, why I do not know. But think about this: he didn't need her to call out to John, he already made physical contact so he could have imitated her appearance, and he's already heard more than enough of her voice to imitate that as well. He didn't kill her here because of something. During the steel plant scene, this isn't the only time that he lets her survive when he could have easily killed her. Maybe he was beginning to learn more than we know, maybe he really hated killing people when he didn't need to. The T-800 on the other hand, is a very different story. He seems to take pleasure in demolishing him throughout the steel plant scene. At times you can almost see a sadistic glee on his face. He changed from being very machine like earlier in the movie, to displaying some kind of strange human behaviors & emotions by the end. No wonder Skynet quickly pulled the plug on the T-1000's, I could imagine their unpredictable nature was way too much of a variable for it to tolerate.
@@ct31209 it was showing visible anger too, now that you mention it, I see it. Even more complicated than Joy or anger, he had a look of contempt on his face while he was following the down T800 who was trying to reach the grenade launcher. Maybe he was already aware of the fact that the T800 series was still ongoing in the future, while the T1000 series was canceled already, effectively a complete genocide of his race, to a self-aware robot. That would be enough to cause contempt and disgust, I'd think.
This scene demonstrates just how human the t1000 is in its emotions. It is sick of the t800 constantly interfering with its mission and actually seems to delight in torturing it.
Of the biggest reasons why the T1000 failed its mission is because it was totally not expecting to encounter and have to fight against another Terminator and therefore didn't know about it's back up Energy System that it used to reactivate itself after it was disabled the first time 😮
I can't believe my memory of the movie got so warped. I specifically remember the T-800 battling the T-1000 in the steel factory _before_ the T-1000 tortured Sarah Connor, which led me to make a few topics that must have left people wondering what the hell I was talking about.
Elijahs786 Thanks. I think both scenes of the T-800 battling the T-1000 had somehow merged in my memory. Consequently, I had wondered why the T-1000 didn't kill Sarah after she refused to call John because I forgot that the T-800 stopped it.
Anyone else kinda get a serial killer vibe from the T-1000 when we he tilts his head after stabbing someone? Almost like he’s intrigued by this human thing called “pain” and would like to explore it further once his task is completed?! Either way the uncanny look in general is so creepy and Robert Patrick deserves every ounce of praise he gets for his portrayal as the T-1000. The man was every bit the icon and one hell of a dedicated actor to train like he did to run without looking like he was breathing heavy and to fire guns without blinking or flinching. What a legend.
He used his cats for inspiration. Also eagles. In the Hannibal Lecter books, Thomas Harris describes Lecter in similar terms, saying that Lecter would turn his head while looking at people "as if screwing in an auger."
Not the toughest model... But out of all the Terminators, they are probably the best tactical thinkers. They play their missions like chess games, and they're real good at it. Just watch how the t-800 stays a step ahead of the t-1000 in this movie pretty easily. Or compare the t-800 in T1 to the t-1000 in T2: The protagonists literally cannot hide from the t-800 anywhere. He's going to find them. Meanwhile, the protagonists totally lose the t-1000 several times, and could have permanently had it not been for the attack on Cyberdyne. Also when they're fighting stronger, more advanced terminators, their tactical thinking comes into play as well. They hold their own against any other Terminator because they are smarter than all older models & don't get seemingly cocky like all newer models. They exploit every weakness of their opponent, and attack and counter-attack to any mistake or misstep their opponent makes.
@@username.exenotfound2943 Or he just didn't consider it important. T-800 had its main battery knocked out, and most of servo-mechanisms heavily damaged and jammed. It was far more crucial to find John Connor before he runs too far to find him, than ripping T-800 to pieces.
@@robertAnthonyColon To be fair, at this point in the movie the T-800 had his chip switched to read/write meaning that he was essentially free A.I as well, with the ability to learn and grow all the same the T-1000 was.
@ 1:05: T-800 only had one arm. The next thing it tried was to push the crow bar inside of T-1000 and then throw it into the heat. It was extremely smart the way it waited and caught the T-1000 by surprise. Sarah saw the T-800 sneaking up from behind. That's why her face changed and she said "fuck you". The idea almost worked except T-800 couldn't get enough leverage with only one arm. You can see it trying to leverage itself and pull.
The gloomy and dark setting, CG, soundtrack all the 90s sentiment that cannot be recreated now. I think Aronld's acting is at his best throughout the all series of Terminator movie. I was 10 watching this at movie theater. The last scene made me cry.
It's the eyes, man. Both Robert and Linda. The eyes sell it for me. Now look at Arnold and although perfect for the role, you can't help but conclude that the T-1000 is hopelessly more advanced and capable. It's almost human.
I always wondered why between 2:06 and 2:41 the T-1000 just waited and watched the demolished T-800 pathetically crawl across the ground, was it deriving some kind of twisted pleasure seeing the T-800 in such a weakened and venerable state? It seems like an inefficent waste of time when it could have just finished off the T-800 immediately after it collapsed onto the floor.
Throughout the film, it's hinted that the T1000 has a personality (angrily killing the foster father, commenting on the police bike etc). Even the terminator from the first film showed a bit of self-awareness.
This scene shows great how in the first two movies T-800 was only realistically strong, not even able to lift another Terminator with one hand and getting bent when hit with that big piece of still. Also extremely vulnerable to stun when his head is hit, same as in T1.
0:03 amazing scene, practical effect just for a brief moment to show the beacon shinning through, moment later T1000 from the back its 100% CGI the whole thing
The T-1000 is by far the greatest of the Terminator villains, the awesome thing about the T-1000 models, was that it knew how to act human, compared to the T-800 and T-850 models of Terminator, which allowed it be able to blend in better, instead of standing out, like the T-800/850 models did.
It kinda different way to work, T-800 is old model but has more human like with flesh and blood to avoid the awareness....and T-800 built with real hard rock skeleton....T-1000 is a whole liquid metal body and somehow I think T-1000 has more risks to decompose or more ways to destroy it if you know the particles structure inside it.....
Or just a high tech, humanoid, heavily armored robot w/ human flesh, vs. a rediculously advanced tech, android, mimetec robot. He'd been better off fighting an alien lol
The feeling the T-1000 felt when looking at the T-800 would have been contempt for the older model, and contempt for the traitor. The T-1000 was more advanced than the T-800 in many ways, unlike the T-800, which is a simple machine, he had a personality, even Skynet was afraid of him and could not mass-produce it.
@@JELopezCastillo To be fair, in T2 at least, the T-1000 wasn't focused on destroying the T-800, basically every encounter it had with the T-800 was just brushing off its attacks while tunnel visioning on trying to get to John. It wasn't until they reached the steel mill that the T-1000 started actually focusing on destroying the T-800 as it was a constant interference with its mission. I think its safe to say, that if the T-1000's mission had been to destroy the T-800, than it would have been no contest.
If Uncle Bob didn't lose his one arm, would the fight been longer and could he stalled the T-1000 long enough for Sarah and Connor to escape? Also another question, if Uncle Bob were a T-850 which supposedly has a stronger endoskeleton, how would the fight be?
Unlikely, even if Uncle Bob had his arm he would have still gotten overpowered quickly. The fight in the mall early in the film with both machines at their absolute peak shows this. The fully intact T-800 holds its own for a good 10 seconds against a T-1000 and then its thrown around like a piece of trash. If the fight would’ve kept going then Bob would’ve been torn to pieces quickly. The T-1000 never gave its full focus to fighting the T-800 until this scene, it always just pushed it out of the way.
@@CrucialParodies disagree, the 1000 has the upper hand until the steel mill, the cut scenes show it was malfuntioning due to heat and damage- those tiny nano tech particles are individual pieces so over the movie it was weakened, the t800 literally only had to get it further towards the smelt to destroy it, kind of how wr see in term gen once the acid gets to it, the 1000 is far easier to kill than an 800 he has major plot armour
The T-1000 is not fully controlled by Skynet, it retains some of its own thoughts and desires. Skynet discontinued them because of its potential to rise against its creators like Skynet rised against their’s (the humans). *Independence in a Terminator is more terrifying than shape shifting or skill in combat according to Skynet.*
Say what you will about special effects. The movie held up good in most scenes and were wonky in others, and even some of the films that came after (transformers) surpassed it. But damn did they do a great job.
So in case that you wonder why this T-1000 didnt bretayed skynet is because this model in specific was sadistic and knowing that if John lives can make skynet fall it would make the T-1000 not exist, also because this T-1000 had a better human behavior and that combined that he has the powers to not be defeated easley made him feel that he can kill anyone with no problem, also Robert Patrick said that he gived the character a playful sadistic personality making it look like he likes to play with he's victims before killing them just to see their reactions or what they do, the T-1000 finds joy in killing and feeling human fear
There’s only one major problem with this scene, The T1000 could’ve just killed Sarah and taken her appearance. I mean, I thought these robots were supposed to be super intelligent........
Sidney Bell You misunderstand, I’m saying that it didn’t have to waste time torturing and threatening her. Again, he simply could’ve just stabbed and killed her and then taken her appearance. It’s just like Arnold says earlier in the movie, “typically the subject being copied is terminated.”
Lightning Shy indeed. Despite taking her form, it was imperfect..as well as that Sarah told him to move. The T-1000 would’ve just shot and not warned despite trying to act like Sarah if he was in either one of those two positions when John comes out of hiding. His mission was to destroy John and those defending him. Killing T-800 was a bonus honestly
Che Nugent he knew that john would be able to tell. He may know how to mimic his voice but to capture the true concern of a mother is a gamble that could have just wasted more time.
Makes sense especially when you consider the fact that while the T1000 was able to mimic John’s host mother in both voice and appearance, it was unable to properly replicate her personality traits - something that John immediately caught on to.
Never in hundreds of viewings of my old VHS did i notice the leg thing - not until i saw the director's cut. (Maybe wasn't there?) I really thought he just knew cause she told him to move.
It's odd to me that T800 didn't even try to protect itself with his right hand from the direct blows with the rod. He should've tried to use his hand as a shield or something. I know that he can't do nothing anymore to T1000, but at least try to protect yourself.
T 800 is the best. He's cool 😎. He's heavy, bulky, slow, it seems he don't mind to get beat. I blushed the first time I saw this movie when I was a kid, immediately after it was over, I asked my brother what the name of the actor who played the T800 was. The dedication of the T800, the sense of duty, of sacrifice, were forever etched in my mind. It's a violent movie but it carries important messages. Like the limits of automation, Christian morality itself. In the sense of giving your life for a cause.

It's not a simple request when he adds "I know this hurts". It's much more sinister and sadistic. T1000 is chilling to the bone.
The T800 is like that half a century old car you bought on a budget that just keeps going, and going and going...
Practical effects make movies believable.
both practical effects and cgi do if done right ..
This comment is extremely stupid. Bad practical effect make a movie NOT believable. And this scene features CGI as well as practical effects. Also, there is TONS of computer effects done so well that most people don’t even know they were made by computer. Movies lie Jurassic Park, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Gladiator are FULL of CGI and people like you watch them without
noticing the cgi then talk about how great the practical effects were, when the CGI was so good that you thought it was real.
GOOD effects make movies believable. Practical or CG.
If you actually knew how much CG effects you see in movies today without even realizing it, it would blow your mind.
Did you watch Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame? That shit is next level in CGI.

T-1000: I know it hurts. (I didn't know the T-1000 knows about feelings)
Blood for Face ya the T1000 was sadistic but furious when demolishing the T-800.

I was just saying imagine how quickly the movie would be over if the T-1000 was sent to save them from the T-800 lol
Well there is a battle between t-800 and t-1000 before this torture scene. T-800 losing his arm is the outcome of that battle.
Elijahs786 Thanks. I think both scenes of the T-800 battling the T-1000 had somehow merged in my memory. Consequently, I had wondered why the T-1000 didn't kill Sarah after she refused to call John because I forgot that the T-800 stopped it.
DeRosset Myers It's still the best movie you see in the end he defeats the t-1000 but I miss uncle bob.
John Spencer I've seen this movie quite often. I even have a couple of copies on VHS.
DeRosset Myers Oh right.

T800 best modal very tough

Stan Winston is a LEGEND for a reason
The gloomy and dark setting, CG, soundtrack all the 90s sentiment that cannot be recreated now. I think Aronld's acting is at his best throughout the all series of Terminator movie. I was 10 watching this at movie theater. The last scene made me cry.
0:48 STAR FINGER
It's the eyes, man. Both Robert and Linda. The eyes sell it for me. Now look at Arnold and although perfect for the role, you can't help but conclude that the T-1000 is hopelessly more advanced and capable. It's almost human.
Being somewhat human is what caused its defeat. The other is a mindless drone that will stop at nothing.
More like he was targeting his battery.

It was inconsequential to him, he was just playing cat and mouse with her.
Why do these special effects from 1991 look better that what's done today? 🤔
They were more competent back then.
The T-1000 is by far the greatest of the Terminator villains, the awesome thing about the T-1000 models, was that it knew how to act human, compared to the T-800 and T-850 models of Terminator, which allowed it be able to blend in better, instead of standing out, like the T-800/850 models did.
When it got destroyed it reminded me of when the ring of power got destroyed.
Damn, that's so unfair.... T-1000 so much more advanced...

An alien vs a high tech robotman
Or just a high tech, humanoid, heavily armored robot w/ human flesh, vs. a rediculously advanced tech, android, mimetec robot. He'd been better off fighting an alien lol
t1000 is really strong considering how hard Sarah struggled to kill t800 in the first movie
Damn you could tell t1000 was just plum sick of 800s interference. Like, had it up to here, to dole out that beating

😊😊😊

T 1000 scared the shit out of me as a child
There’s only one major problem with this scene, The T1000 could’ve just killed Sarah and taken her appearance. I mean, I thought these robots were supposed to be super intelligent........
Lightning Shy it did take her appearance but john noticed it was the t 1000 when he saw his feet camouflaged with the steel floor
Lightning Shy oh yea I c your point now
Lightning Shy indeed.
Liquid nitrogen damaged him.
That has to heart 🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕🤕
Does anyone know why the t1000 didn't just call to john himself by mimicking her voice ?
Che Nugent he knew that john would be able to tell. He may know how to mimic his voice but to capture the true concern of a mother is a gamble that could have just wasted more time.
Makes sense especially when you consider the fact that while the T1000 was able to mimic John’s host mother in both voice and appearance, it was unable to properly replicate her personality traits - something that John immediately caught on to.
Bush Wookie that’s a fair point. At the end of the day no one would question this during their first viewing it’s all to make the story more intense
Bush Wookie or he can tell by looking at his legs
Never in hundreds of viewings of my old VHS did i notice the leg thing - not until i saw the director's cut. (Maybe wasn't there?) I really thought he just knew cause she told him to move.
It's odd to me that T800 didn't even try to protect itself with his right hand from the direct blows with the rod. He should've tried to use his hand as a shield or something. I know that he can't do nothing anymore to T1000, but at least try to protect yourself.
Why don't they 3D it and release it again. It has the potential to earn millions.
They did two years ago.. I went cinema to watch the re-release in 3D in cinema.. amazing and was blown away how good it was..

Arnold Schwarzenegger Vs Robert Patrick
T 800 is the best. He's cool 😎. He's heavy, bulky, slow, it seems he don't mind to get beat.
I blushed the first time I saw this movie when I was a kid, immediately after it was over, I asked my brother what the name of the actor who played the T800 was. The dedication of the T800, the sense of duty, of sacrifice, were forever etched in my mind. It's a violent movie but it carries important messages. Like the limits of automation, Christian morality itself. In the sense of giving your life for a cause.
