I'm Iranian and I live in Iran too. I can say it that in 99 percent of things in different categories, Iran or Iranian people is underrated and you can't see these but i can, and the reason of this, is about government of iran. They limit us in all of things. You can imagine north korea and it's like iran but lower intensity. its
too sad for us. If you follow news you know iranian people wants revolution.

My Iranian stepmom introduced me to SO MUCH of this stuff over the course of my life. Chai and the saffron sticks (or just sugar cubes if you absolutely chug it like our house did and didn’t wanna fund that saffron budget) could probably be detected in my bloodstream at this point. I always end up getting a bunch for housewarmings and Christmas and stuff from her nowadays. I’m a sucker for sohan asali because I’ve always been into brittles and toffees and it is a wonderful twist on the “standard.” I haven’t ever gone for the yogurt soda but I’ve at least tried everything on that table if not had it every time I go visit her and my dad.
This is like coming home lmao, down to the “kAH-Bob.” Joojeh is my favorite and finally learning how to make it myself was the highlight of my last trip to visit her

Wow, this really brings me back! Growing up, my neighbors were Iranian and whenever Grandma would come over or we went to her house, she always gave us gaz, halva, or those sticky-chewy sesame honey candies. Her house always smelled so good and I didn't know until this year that it was from the black lime she used to cook with. I was in a spice shop and smelled it and was INSTANTLY hit with a wave of nostalgia! One of my favorite episodes ever!!!

Italian Nougat Orgins From Iran But Italians Made it From Dried Milk
This Type of Sweet Originally Is From Iran because It's Made From Syrup of a Tree Called "Gazangabin" That Only Exist in Iran And you can't find any in Europe or Italia
That's Why This Sweet Is Called Gaz
Iran is Closed Country and Many Iranian Foods Has Showed by Other Nations Like Kebab , Baklava, Tava ,Nougat , Khinkali ,Yokfa ,Pilaf and etc.... Even Most Of the World Thinks Shiraz and Syrah Wines Are From France , or Anybody Thinks Beer Is From Germany or Czech 😅

Lily is correct about sanding and oiling your wooden cutting boards, especially if the surface has visible cuts in it. Start with 120 grit and sand with the grain, not across the grain. If you have one of those cutting boards where it is small blocks on end, use an orbital sander. Sand till the surface is smooth, then wipe it with a damp cloth to remove any wood dust and let it dry completely. Then apply the food grade wood oil liberally and let the wood absorb as much as it can before wiping off the excess. Wooden cutting boards can harbor molds and bacteria that can cause serious food born illnesses.

The sohan that was tried on this video is ordinary sohan which is different from, and more expensive than sohan asali. Infact, sohan asali is not a genuine sohan, as it is more sugar based than sohan and mainly is coverd with almond and a little pistachio while the sohan is coverd merely with a big amount of pistachio and is more a wheat flour based with massive amount of saffron. Another difference is that the sohan asali smeared with honey - or if it has made commercially - with caramel (honey in Farsi called asal). Texture of the sohan asali is hard and firm while for the sohan it is pleasantly brittle. The tastes of the two products are quite different as well. In short, sohan is more a cookie as it contains flour while sohan asali is more candy as it has made mostly of sugar.

aww I loved this video, awesome, thanks for making it... it's probably worth mentioning that a lot of these snacks have such a wide range of quality in Iran, you can get the best of the best of each of these, but you can also find cheap stuff that's supposed to be one thing but it pretty much 95% sugar :D the difference between a great Sukhan and a cheap one can be miles apart!!

Iraqi, not Iranian, but the whole bit about the chai being #1 is SO TRUE! Our family's stance on the light/dark debate is that if you can see the bottom of the cup, you're not doing it right. ;p
