The minor 3rd bass over the major chord at 0:42 and 1:02 is absolute genius. There was so much "Jazz" going on in 80's pop songs. That same minor 3rd note is then used again by the bass for the flat 7 of the V chord before resolving back to the Tonic. They don't write pop songs like this anymore.

Who remembers the first time they heard this? I must have heard it about a dozen times on the radio before I saw the vid. Beautiful song, amazing lyrics, the arrangement, the sax, the voice, the way he sang it, the feeling and meaning behind it. Then we get to see the vid on TV, Colin alone in that room, the mood, the black suit, an old style crooner with a modern (80s) feel and groove. The songwriter we had been waiting for.
I loved it from the first listen, in fact I remember thinking that it was one of the best songs I'd ever heard. Always reminds me of my girlfriend at the time but I still love the song.
I’m 17 years old, and I just discovered this song. Didn’t expect it to be an 80s song, I listen to it once and I can’t stop listening to it now. 80s songs never disappoints, this is truly a masterpiece.

My favourite Black song and one of the early releases. I enjoy the way the song flows in a very melancholic, restrained and sensitive way. The legendary, great, unforgettable artist Black is one of my iconic music artists, such a wonderful man passed away so young, so early, the death of great music artists is not only for me, but also for so many, many music lovers is very painful, you have the intensive, sad feelings, as if you lost one of your familymembers, one of your great, lovely relativies. Ok, but nobody commented on how handsome this man was, in addition to being brilliant and having an amazing voice. I remember when I first saw the "Wonderful Life" video on TV, as a kid, thinking he was so gorgeous. He looked even better in color. R.I.P, Colin, you were beautiful in every way.
