    I've been using DSLRs for the past 10 year and while I knopw that adapters have firmware updates, it never occurred to me that lenses do too! Thanks for this!

    Thanks Joseph.. this was an excellent presentation and I am now subscribed to your channel. The pace of you discussion is great as many, like the Jared - 'I Shoot Raw' man talks way too fast. One small thing on the Menu searches, if you know an item is at the bottom of a list just use the up arrow will take you to the end item.
    I have just updated my FTZ & 24-70 S and I was unaware that my lenses could be done until I watch your video.. Cheers from South New Zealand

      You don't have to but there is no need to keep old firmware on your card. Feel free to erase the firmware files.

    I'm using the Z series and when I connect with the flash or trigger the live view mode does not show the real exposure this make a bit difficult for the shooting. In other company like fuji/ sony there is an option for this feature. Does nikon has this option menu please help?

    When I added the firmware to my XQD card, the update option did not appear. MA is still blank. Mind you the MAFTZ0110.bin is still zipped. When I try to unzip so as to add to my card, my Mac says It cannot expand for it is an unsupported format. All my gear is brand new. Can you help?

    • @ShutterSpeak
      @ShutterSpeak  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Samantha - it sounds like you do not have the correct firmware. The firmware does not come zipped. For Mac it is a DMG. Open that on your Mac first then move the extracted file to your card.

  • @hotrod4x5

    If your lens and body need updating, can you put both firmware on the card at the same time? Or do you need to do them one at a time?

    • @ShutterSpeak

      If it has the current firmware you are good to go. It doesn't matter what camera you used to update it.

    Caution! I recently downloaded firmware for the Zfc from Nikon. when I hit the upload, the camera shut itself down and would not restart. Nikon support told me it would have to be sent to a service center. I mailed it, at my expanse. After a week, I got an estimate for repair. Almost $ 300.00. This camera was just over one year old, purchased directly from Nikon and had less than 1,000 actuations. The camera worked perfectly until I tried to upload the firmware. Note - I own over two dozen Nikon cameras including four Z series and I am very familiar with the update procedure. Has anyone else had this problem?
