What is triangular arbitrage in the FX markets? www.financial-s... PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE This is an introduction to trading forex arbitrage. Triangular Arbitrage is literally the process of buying and selling an instrument that has exactly the same value for different prices for a short term anomaly gain. Say, one price is trading at $10, the other is trading at $11 - it is exactly the same product or market - we are going to buy at $10 and sell at $11. This existed in the past in the futures market when futures were traded on different exchanges. It still happens on electronic markets but on much shorter timeframes. Let's see how it could work in the currency markets
How to Arbitrage the Forex Markets: Triangular Arbitrage
    3 or more FX Pairs
    examples:
    EUR/USD: 1.1325
    EUR/GBP: 0.7805
    GBP/USD: 1.4528
    Buy EUR10,000 at 1.1325 = USD11,325
    Sell EUR10,000 at 0.7805 = GBP7,805
    Buy GBP7,805 at 1.4528 = USD11,339
    = USD14 per EUR10,000
The idea is that if the implied cross is not equal to the actual cross quote then an arbitrage opportunity exists. The big risk with triangular arbitrage is obviously execution - all trades have to be executed simultaneously.

Yet there are instances where I found brokers (thru Forex Peace Army forums) unwilling to honour clients profits citing the oft-used excuse of "Arbitrage trading" without giving any proofs. When you think about the small trades that retail clients makes (versus the millions/billions made by institutional traders) plus the "huge spreads between bid and ask prices imposed on retail traders" it makes me wonder if ever these brokers' accusations are ever true.

Hi, I have got a question for your topic, so i want to make a trinagular arbitrage about min by 10 currencys and that without spread. My question is if I can make always profit because of the price gap and how it works so which amounts do i have to adjust?

I think you made a mistake. First you bought dollars with euros. Then you sold euros for pounds. You never mentioned what happened to the first batch of dollars after you bought them. I think you meant to go euro/usd - usd/gbp-gbp-? to another currency that when sold gave you more dollars than when you started. I could be wrong, but that seems more logical to me.

Many brokers don't allow arbitrage; what about this kind of kind of triangular hedging with forex? How do brokers (especially with commission based models (ECN)) usually deal with this? I use a low latency VPS, so it might be worth trying if it works at all, but I don't like to be banned or give profits back that I made with other EAs, only because of a general black flag due to arbitrage.

Unfortunately, this may constitute an event of default under the terms and conditions of the securities service agreement entered into with the broker. : )

14 EUR on 10'000 EUR is not much profit margin.
