"Cotentin 44" Epaves du débarquement en Normandie version FR

- 1944, le 6 juin à l'aube, les troupes alliées débarquent sur nos cotes Normandes.
Dans le Cotentin, c'est la partie Est qui fait partie de l'opération, et plus précisement la cote qui s'étend de quinéville à la baie des veys, déjà nommée Utah Beach par les forces alliées.
le Sherman M4 alors utilisé, est modifié par l'adjonction d'hélices orientables. puis on lui attache une jupe de toile pour former une coque.
il deviens ainsi le fameux DDTank
- le 21 juin, le U 390 est en route vers Cherbourg coupé des voies terrestres.
Il est commandé par l'ober lieutnant Heinz Geissler, et dès le 05 Juillet à l'aube, torpille deux navires en provenance d'Utah beach.
L'après-midi, le 105ème groupe d'escorte convoie 40 cargos du Nord de la Normandie vers l'Angleterre.
Le Capitaine du sous-marin vise et tire sur un de navire puis s'immerge immédiatement, il est presque 14h00 et nous sommes au large de barfleur
- Le 24 décembre au matin, 2 235 hommes embarquent sur le LEOPOLDVILLE à Southampton..
A 9h00 le convoi en destination de la France est prêt et se dirige vers Cherbourg.
A la tombée de la nuit le convoi est en vue des cotes du cotentin et en cette veille de Noël l'ensemble des hommes sont heureux d'arriver.
mais le loup gris est là, le U486, aperçoit les navires et lance deux torpilles sur le plus gros d'entre eux le LEOPOLDVILLE !
- On June 6th 1944, during Operation Neptune, the naval phase of D-Day, almost 200 vessels sank off the coast of Normandy.
Off the eastern shore of the Cotentin peninsular, the destroyer Corry sank on the first day, between the Saint Marcouf islands and the shore.
Later in the day many smaller vessels went down -- landing barges, minesweepers, and also the amphibious DD tanks, one of the symbols of the 'longest day'.
Many other vessels sank in the weeks and months which followed.
Today we are going to look at some of the more significant shipwrecks off the Cotentin coast
We must remember that the Manche shoreline carries many memories of human adventure, often tragic, related to the Normandy landings. And even today there are still dozens of wrecks which lie beneath the waves.
Let us look at three of these
- The famous Duplex drive tanks which sunk the morning of June 6th near Utah beach
- The German submarine U390, sunk by the Allies in July 1944 off Barfleur
- And finally the steamship Leopoldville on Christmas Eve off Cherbourg

for us in modern times, this is a beautiful scene or a museum of the sea but for those involved in this conflict a heartbreaking scene in which the same close friends in this battle have fallen at the bottom of the sea. RIP for all of them, amen

Als je het kanaal zou kunnen droogleggen, dan zou je éen grote vlakte hebben vol wrakken en ander oud ijzer. Dat moet enorm zijn.

il faut imaginer que des gens son mort dedans mais biensur on ne voix pas l'interieur il y a encore peux etre des chose comme un mot a sa femme comme au musée des epave en normandie

petite question a 4,40 on aperçois un poisson clow ! lol ou alors c'est une illusion d'optique ? en tout cas si c'est bien cela ,alors l'epave en question ne se trouve pas au large des cotes du cotentin !
