- Today we look at knights in CK3... more specifically Knight Effectiveness. If you stack this modifier, your knights / champions become OVERPOWERED. Crusader Kings 3's gameplay means you can reform your culture and reform your religion for one purpose... in this case it's to become a GOD OF WAR! We also stack prowess along the way, just for the meme.

Just FYI, 1 Knight in CK3 isn't just the one person, it's themselves and their personal retinue, which could be a handful of highly trained troops
...that said stacking this much is still insane
In Ironman it takes a bit of work to build up to. Not as fun of a video
Yeah. The ridiculous stacking can usually be explained by larger and better trained personal retinues, but sometimes you can get to "1 Knight defeating an army of 10k" levels and then it gets inexplicable lol.
everyone knows it's the Avengers man
@@kabobawsome just need to kill 1 man every 3 seconds for about 8 hours and it's all in a honest day of work. Lunch break is just taking bites out of warhorses
Disappointed that you never showed the stats for the battles to see just the sheer number of people each knight has killed
Think of it like late game Bannerlord terms ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The idea of 12 dudes running around taking on armies of thousands is the most anime thing I've seen in CK3 lol.
I just made a culture called it Spartan, and used this method. So relatively historically accurate.
@@tykethepup2288until you came across 300 gay lovers
@@tykethepup2288didnt most if not all of the 300 spartans (and the other 8000 soldiers) die?
@@qhu3878 dont be a hater bro
@@qhu3878 yes
When you want to stack up knight effectiveness one should have their domain in floodplains or indian jungle because there one can build the cameltry/elephantry building line whing increases the number of knights and their effectiveness. those buildinfs are essential if you want to max out your armies knightlys prowess
Yeah, also how about doing a hydrid norse-egyptian culture specifically for that?)))
a good alternative is the Hill Dwellers culture tradition to that, that adds an extra 8% knight effectiveness per hill level
@@nikolaitregouet
All tremble before the might of the Daneluk!
@@MrHodoAstartes yeah, I mean imagine building those wetlands buildings for knights + effectiveness, while having agrarian, philosopher culture and coastal warriors as traditions)
@@iulianju7893 yeah, it all depends on what you’re doing exactly. Now with Hybrid cultures you have so many options)
Today Laith tries turning a strategy games military units into Shonen anime protagonists
at 400% Knight effectiveness your character is pretty much general grievous with the 4 lightsabers lol
Norsethumbria would have been a great name for the culture divergence
Maybe Norse-Umbreia, that one sounds like Norseth-Umbria.
Imagine being a army of a almost 1000 and getting wrecked by a few boys in shiny metal
Reminds me of the crusades.
1.000 knights againt an muslims army of 12.000 and the crusader knights won and only lost 200.
@@HolgerLovesMusic Which battle is that?
I'm just imagining like... 8 men COVERED in steel plates swinging a Greatsword the size of a medieval tower. Just... killing 100s per swing.
plot armour
40k type shit
Remember the anime where 12 dudes just waltz up to an army of 2000 Frenchmen, who just laugh that only a dozen Swedes, Northumbrians, Scots, and Norwegians came to face them. Well one hour later and nearly all 2000 men dead the 12 dudes just walk back to the main army with their axes and chainmail rusted with blood, unscathed.
Thats an anime?
So you watch Vinland Saga that's a good one.
"astaru"💀
To stack knights better get camelry or elephantry buildings since they both give more knights and knight bonuses also the manage men at arms also improve knights so u get more damage overall that way
You could try a Mansa Musa challenge in CK3 in Africa where you give your leader every trait that increases income in any way, shape or form and try to strictly expand via buying claims or lands
Saw the title and already knew what was coming lol
I one time had an army of 3000~ take on 20k men and won with only about 1 thousand casualties on my end, defensive crusades as* Asartu is always a joy.
(originally had versus instead of as)
Oh mate that’s nothing in my best game I had an army of 13k take on an army of 89k while I had the disembarking penalty and won with like 1.5 k casualties and stack wiped the enemies armies
Same bro...i have elite force with 30 knight effectivenes around 300% and 5000 total MaA (Horse Archer, CrossBow, Varangian Vets) , I destroy almost any Catholic army that comes near me... Unstoppable until Supply run out
Wait were you Astartu or Christian? Because usually Astartu is the outnumbered but superior military force
@@FrostReave Asartu ofc but the only person to join in defense of I think the jarldom of Jorvik, son of Ragnar lost it and an adventure married to my daughter and future kids of my dynasty, was myself.
I sat defensively in hills as the catholic hoard moved in.
@@Fun4luve Norsemen might be surrounded by the Catholic hoards that outnumber them 20 to 1 but by Odin their realms are teeming with badass warriors and commanders and they have that delicious Tribal Combat Advantage and cheap yet powerful men at arms. I wouldn’t want to challenge them. They can have Britannia for all I care.
Piece of advice, if you had created the kingdom of England earlier it would have taken it from the other guy causing any duke level vassals in his realm to become independent, making things easier to clean up and possibly peacefully be vassalized as you're now their de-jure leige.
when are you going to Ulm?
We need a mod where exceptional player characters can achieve immortality through unique ways(Prowess beats death in single combat, martial beats in a game of strategy, Intelligence create an Elixir of Immortality, Barging for your soul, hiding from death, etc., plus unique attributes for each: selling watered down immortality potions, becoming a middle man for soul sales, fight off death from friends or family to give them immortality. Plus what about the reaction of the world. People start to deify you, maybe you lean into it or fake your death to try and live a normal life. Maybe new danger emerge now that you have your tangled in the supernatural. Godslayers, witches, demons, so much opportunity.
Anbennar moment
Kinda garbage idea towards the ends
or just play CK2
@@alverygrissom2544 in the start yeah

"I don't know what's going on anymore. I just right click and people die."
God at work.
Only discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I'm hooked.
You need to use the character finder and search for unwed women in your court. You can marry them matrilineal to the highest prowess character not at your court and that character will come to your court. Easy way to get free knights especially early on.
Just wait til y'all try the Princes of Darkness mod, of which base knight effectiveness is heightened (to simulate the supernatural prowess of vampires).
Took me a crazy amount of time to figure out that immortality is not a trait you can achieve without cheating... I tried and tried, having guys with crazy prowess and waiting for an event to fight death...
Some 15 juiced up knights + about 1000-2000 varangian veterans have wiped armies of 10-20 000 for me. I like to start in earlyer age when playing around with vikings!
You can also get yourself alot of knights in tribal era by building war camps everywhere!
“GRIFFITTTTTTTTH!!!” - that knight (probably)
Jesus, this is more like the tales of Ancient Greek heroes, like the battle for Troy, than it is medieval knights
ive gone so far i went as duke over duchy limit and had almost all duchies in england totaling to 1920% knight evektiveness with mil acadimes lvl3 in every duchy
"Astaru"
Winning all the battles is nice if you get the legacy bonus for Norse heritage cultured characters that increases prestige gain from battles by 100%
I'm new to watching this channel and I already subbed just yesterday I really want to play ck3 but sadly I don't have the money for it hopefully in the future I will buy it
Finally something I discovered independently!
421% KE after 1000 is really a rookie number.
Gotta pump those up.
The best way I found so far is starting as a viking and either emigrating to India, or starting as a custom norse character there (Chandala I think it's called, a 3 province nation with a plausible Goldmine is amongst the best start locations for this).
Soo, being norse will give you the early money and some dev increase in your goldmine province, nothing fancy. Then, what you wanna do is conquer the coastline for Elephantries nad Military Academies. Eventually, as you conquer the whole of India, you wanna stick to the Jungle terrain coastline and Dutchy Capitals in Jungles. There are quite a few in India. Hold those as your own, and build them up. You can double build the Elephatires in each of your provinces also.
As you conquered India, and united it with the required religion guy, you can convert to your final religion, for which I'd advise either norse or tengri. Both has really good knight buffs, tengri is slighlty better. Pagan holy sites also give out 15% KE, which is nice early game, but will be over shadowed as soon as you can build MAs, so don't develop them too much.
Your culture and religion can help a lot with raising a family with insane warriors. There is a cultural aspect which gives knights the ability to gain prowess during battles. Must have. I once rolled with ~100ish knights out of which were ~35 with 90 or above prowess. Just do your familiar breeding program as usual, but keep giving them battles to fight.
Also, don't worry about 100-200 negative relations modifier due to holding too much dutchies. You actually want that. The more rebellions the merrier. As a norse, they can give you gold, and train your knights. A 50k stack is nothing to 50-100 good knights.
Wow lovely start man, BTW what's the cap on prowess?
@@Slayem02 100
Durham shirt! Awesome man
pretty sure you can go full north korea mode massively over domain limit and build the knight effectiveness buildings everywhere and it doesnt matter if you have no levys because you could probably snipe whole armies with just your entourage
Reminds me of the uruk hai campain I played a time ago. Great Mod btw 😄
I have a run where I started as Haesteinn and took over Sardinia and eventually I got my knight effectiveness up to 270% it was almost too OP. I never even had to call my regular levy’s for most wars. Just my MoA and my knights.
Try winning a Crusade... Even that is not enough
I have won the crusades twice but I myself dunno how I did it
A battle showing off the effectivness of knights in real history is the Battle of Monte Porzio (1167), where between 10000 - 30000 mostly Roman urban militia faced a tired army of 500 German knights, supported by 800 Brabantine footmen. The Brabantine footmen provided archer support and seem to have raided the Roman camp, while the 500 knights with cleverly timed and positioned charges broke the gargantuan Roman army, with 300 reinforcing knights sallied forth from a besieged castle to end the battle. As immensely impressive that battle is, the numbers are not quite like the ones in this video...
ASTARU, that had me giggle.
you think thats broken?
Add a bunch of heavy infantry and barracks into the mix and you´ll beat armies 10:1 no prob
You can actually get to the point where 1 knight can beat thousands solo if your domain and culture is right.
That was the first thing I noticed about combat in this game. Naturally all I’ve done is stack knight effectiveness, it’s just too easy
I think you have nerfed the snarky editor too much. Some snark is good
19:09 how does he do that, so that he clicks execute prisoner on the side and immediately is able to hit "execute" big button in the middle? like how, cause I tried looking for a hotkey to click "yes" or confirm the big buttons but I didn't find any, and i've to manually move the mouse cursor back and forth between the side and center of the screens.
Pretty sure it's the enter / return key
Ah yes, I remember when 22 units of Norse Knights conquered France during the high middle ages
That Sweden and England sharing the south of British isle is cursed (in the middle of the video) Swengland if you will
sorry for not watching this earlier
Gotta love paradox games lmao
b r u h “Astaru”?
I have never been more dissapointed for someone saying "Asatrú" wrong
Laith straight up said lets play a dynasty warriors game in ck3
I'm quite sure I saw your hairstyle in-game. Is this intentional?
I’m one of the three Scottish viewers lol
how do you make a character immortal ?
Making King Arthur an Anglo-Saxon is heresy
shouldve named him Ærthur
I like that he says Astaru instead of Asatru. Kinda funny and cute
Those aren't knights, those are space marines.
Pretty sure that 69 prowess character doesn’t do any damage in the battle since he is the commander
Bucephalus is a mare?
Happy pride!
21:45 that is 71.6 to 1
you should make a eugenics program in ck3
How did you manage to get the immortal trait? As far as i know there are only mods for this, and it should not be available in the vanilla game
He just cheated with DEBUG mode, you can see a purple word when he right click anything, you can even read the grant inmortality trait to this character at 20:52.
The video it's fun as showcase of knights but he just forced it.
you made your knights anime protaganists
Why Laith look like he could perfectly be recreated in Dragon Age 2?
Hey Mister Durham University! Is Asatru not Astaru!
This has been bothering me but. You can move your levies to be closer to the border with that red flag by your capital
Personal prowess is good and all but to my knowledge does not affect the martial ability of a commander, or decreases the chance of a commanders dying. So creating an even higher martial char would make it even more ridiculous.
Nice
The game and everyone else: Asatru
Laith: Astaru
DO NOT PURSUE LU BU!
the second Leonidas
1 Jedi is worth 100s of battle droids
Am i the only one bothered by him multiple times reading the obvious Asatru as Astaru?
Where's Ottawa? :(
omg kniths are so op i have this so underrated lol
It actually looks like Arthur's reign
even without breaking the game knights are way way too effective
So the burhs are not available for Italians? Someone help lmao
It's not "Crusader Kings" anymore! It's "Exalted"!
This means King Arthur's round table is canon to CK3.
How about playins as Gurids (afganistan an conquering India. Historically they were first muslims to conquer northern india. You can check Gurid Empire
I think it got nerfed, before it was even more op.
Asatru
Hwicce is pronounced HWISE? I never knew that.
e-sea-axe?? you mean Ess-ex? 0.0
you didnt put any gear on your knights
You look like rami malek
You can easily reach 1000% knight effectiveness with the new tours and tournaments DLC, they made knights extremely broken, but removed the ability to raid as a kingdom, wtf paradox?!
ASATRU
PRONOUNCED: AHS-AH-TRU
not "star-ru"
oml its asatru not astaru
Bro did not pronouce Àsatrù like that 💀
Worst part is that this is probably correct to real life. 1 good man > 1000
if you get 69 prowess the game says nice wtf.... thats an easter egg
If you create a series with no facecan you probably would be my favorite CK3 player on TH-cam! Don't get me wrong ... you are amazing .... but just don't like videos in front of the games!
So
Prussia?
Play vic 2
Three Scottish Viewers, how ya doin?
If you this with the vampirism and lycanthropy mod it can be more overpowered as the vampirism can give some characters nearly 100 prowess
As a Scot, the place isnt very nice. Go ahead with the jokes lmao
You can use mods for bigger knighteffectiveness but it can go through insane levels
Knights of the Genocide
Laith. Please. Hwicce is not pronounced "hw-ise". It's "hwi-ch-eh". Like saying 'witch' but with an h at the start and an "eh" sound at the end.
i think Spiffing Brit already did a video where he had just knights going around killing huge armies...
