The lead singer is Chrissy Amphlett and she was sexy af. Unfortunately she passed away in 2013 from breast cancer and MS. Seems unfair that she got a double whammy of diseases. RIP

100%. She saw an early AC/DC gig, was transfixed by Bon Scott’s charisma and vowed to become a rock star. Which she absolutely did. Gone way too soon - as is Bon - but at least she achieved her dream

I already know someone's gonna call me a boomer, but I love the fact that older songs like this could do so much and paint such a VIVID (heh heh) picture without being so explicit like today's songs (WAP, 35+34, etc). This was one of their more lighthearted songs. They were incredibly powerful live. Christine's delivery on other songs, was so aggressive and emotionally charged she often seemed like something other than human. The pain and torment in her voice was deeply moving, sometimes disturbing experience. Definitely one of my all-time favorite vocalists. They had many great songs, "Elsie" live is a must. Witness that, you will never be the same.

Chrissy was one the great singers RIP. This was their only US hit but they had a bucket load here in Oz. There was a period in time when you almost couldn't turn on the Radio or watch a music show and not see a Divinyls song. You should check them out

wow, that makes zero sense in today's medicine. they actually use a cancer drug, ritixumaub to treat MS. it has been rebranded as Ocrevus. They found people with both dx showed a slowing of disease on that treatment. What we have learned in the past 10 years is mindblowing.

Christina Amphlett, the lead singer of Divinyls, the Australian rock band whose hit “I Touch Myself” brought her international fame in the early 1990s, died on Sunday at her home in New York City. She was 53.
The cause was breast cancer and multiple sclerosis, her husband, the drummer and bassist Charley Drayton reported.
Ms. Amphlett’s singing voice - Jon Pareles of The New York Times called it “one of the most distinctive voices in rock” - was only part of her appeal. She was also renowned for her raunchy, high-energy performances and her stage outfits, most famously a school uniform and fishnet stockings.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1959, in Geelong, a city in the Australian state of Victoria, and formed Divinyls with the guitarist Mark McEntee in 1980.

Divinyls released seven albums between 1982 and 1996, peaking in 1991 with the success of the single “I Touch Myself,” which reached No. 1 in Australia, No. 4 in the United States and No. 10 in Britain. The band reformed briefly in 2006, shortly before Ms. Amphlett announced that she had Multiple Sclerosis. In 2010 she announced that she also had cancer.
Ms. Amphlett was an actress as well as a singer. She made her movie debut in the 1982 Australian film “Monkey Grip,” which featured several Divinyls songs on the soundtrack. She later played Russell Crowe’s mother in the Australian stage version of “Blood Brothers”.
