Newest video of the 1/6th scale Moyer Made Chevy V-8 based on a 327 cu in Corvette Motor. Everything is to scale, yes even the spark plugs and distributor. See more at www.moyermade.com .
+Blackdavid2011 Yea, it just sounds like a two stroke. Yea, I've seen comments saying, "it's spinning in the wrong direction".... Keep in mind he didn't build this thing to run anything. He did it cause he could. VERY impressive and give the man his props.
+jaded16340 Whoa I didn't mean to throw his job in the trash, i was just replying to a comment, of course i am really impressed with what this man built, I couldn't have done it better.
@raynor117 from the front the upper pulley is the alternator and the pulley above the crank is the water pump. The camshaft gear is behind the cover that's bolted to the front of the engine (you can see the silver-colored bolts for it behind the water pump). As the uploader mentioned, he didn't connect any hoses to the water pump.
this is my favorite one so far. it seems like most of them have some kind of scale problem that makes it look weird. this one is more realistic . the valve covers and exhaust manifolds look great! I want one!
This is awesome, so cool! Reminds me of what my stock engine in my vette looked like before I yanked it and put a more potent motor in it (ZZ4-350). Neat little engine you got there.
@10haro1 yes there is no battery, therefore it needs an alternator to run the spark plugs, if there was no alternator, then there would be a battery which would allow the engine to run until there was no energy left in the battery, because the spark plugs require POWER to run.
It might sound like a 2-stroke, but if you go to the web site indicated above, you will see photos the engine in various stages of disassembly. It's clearly a 4-stroke engine.
put it in a rc car body and race people who think its a normal rc. "hey, wanna race rc cars?" "sure" *puts cars at starting line* "READY? GET SET. GO!" *chugga VROOM* *SREECH* "NO FAIR! WAAAAH"
Wow this is amazing! How it was possible to make all of these parts ,I can't even guess. Especially spark plugs. Imagine trying to clean a gunked up carb on this, holy crud!
@Dichael502 Displacement is usually good for delivering good torque and longevity for a given desired horsepower. So while you can get some small four-cylinder cars that may approach or equal the power of a V8 that first saw duty in a car with tailfins, the former engine is going to deliver power differently to the big iron warhorse. And while it's a lot of fun to rap the engine out and bang gears, there's also a lot to be said for being pushed into your seat at 2,500 revs.
@SeigiSama Actually, very few old 327 vettes were fuel injected. Most used a single 4 bbl carb, but the 327 was used in many more chassis than the corvette. Impalas & Super Sports for starters.
@D31ay3d True that! An alternator is like a generator. It makes power to spark the plugs and/or maintain the battery. If you dont have an alternator, you will require a battery to fire the plugs. (which will run flat enentually,as there is no alternator to keep it charged/maintained) Unless you connect it to a mains powered battery charger.
Well considering its a scaled size it doesn't matter how many cylinders it has or what its for, they're usually 2 stroke because of the size. I do know about motors
Alternators supply the engine with electrical power.Once he cranks the engine with the drill the alternator sends electrical power to the distributor which in turn sends a jolt of electricity to each cylinder when it is "time" for that spark plug to fire. When someone use's jumper cables to start your car that has a dead battery it's like what he's doing. But he is jump starting it with a drill.
Oh and this engine sounds funny merely because the manifolds (collectors) used here. Because the exhaust is so much louder than the engine action you can't hear the firing order in conjunction with the exhaust. Put Zoomies on it and it will sound like a dragster just in a higher register.
@liveonthereartire Conley's engines are actually twice the size of this motor and were not a replica of any particular motor. This IS an actual replica of a Chevy V8, but in 1/6th scale, so I think our claims are justified. I think your advise of conducting research before making any claims is sound.
Sounds pretty good for something that small. Add a belt tentioner so the fanbelt stops looking like it's going to fall off, and it would be sweet as in a 1/6 scale remote controlled car. Just big enough to shove one of the kids in. LOL
@MrDiego205 that would be so awesome to have a miniature V-8 HEMI engine for a go-kart!! that would be so cool and FUN to have HEMISPHERICAL heads on engine that size...good idea man!!
@bigdaddymatty17 not after thirty seconds a motor needs to warm up and open the thermostat before it even starts pumping water through the block, and warming up take a couple minutes
@ChuddleBuggy If you have 2 cylinders this normally gives 180 degrees. Just look out for an old Fiat 500 or 126 ("Maluch") or Citroen 2CV or Visa. I had the occasion to ride a 126 and a 2CV, so I guess I would know.
@LimitlessAeon619 It's tiny, but I'm agree with Juzzlookin. Some cylinders are not working fine, and for that it doesn't sounds like it must be. An v8 engine got a characteristic sound, don't matter if it's big or small
There is a replacement for displacement, super and turbocharging that's how 2jz rb-30 ect get over 1000hp, but there's no replacement for longevity, but, I still love the inline 6 :D.
@brapmikeybrap Just the coolness factor..being able to say you have a tiny V-8 powered go-kart..but i agree though if i were building a shifter Kart..a GSXR1000 or R1 would be my engine of choice...but that tiny engine would be so cool on a kart
@ChuddleBuggy First, there are several 2-cyl. setups, some of them firing every 180 degs, others every 360. Second, one could even say that thing sounds like a 1-cyl. engine, but that wouldn't really change the fact that it's a V8. Either that, or the whole thing is a spoof, and there is really just one cylinder inside. LOL
i put a motor on my bicycle, i think with a good mounting plate in the frame i could rig this up to work,, i'd probably be doing 60mph+ easily with this, single cylinder 4 strokes can already get 40mph. very cool. but guessing there's no where to buy them and this is custom?
Hey, this is a great project! I don't think some of these people realize all of the work that went into this! Great job! Now make a 1/6 scale corvette for it to go into! LOL No really, great job!
still more power than a honda
I doubt it.
When I saw this the first thoughts that popped into my head was a V8 lawn mower and go-cart.
Brings a whole new meaning to the term "small block"...Very cool !
Hey, that rubber band on that alternator is loose.
nice but that sounds like a chainsaw
No muffler.
It's a 2 stroke engine, It just looks like a Chevy v-8
Its a four stroke. On his site, if you search for this engine, you will see the pushrods and valves...
+Blackdavid2011 Yea, it just sounds like a two stroke. Yea, I've seen comments saying, "it's spinning in the wrong direction".... Keep in mind he didn't build this thing to run anything. He did it cause he could. VERY impressive and give the man his props.

@@DSperformance96 It doesn't sound right at all.
Gorgeous! Nice work. Now all we need is a little tiny Sting Ray...
haha look at that awesome little distributor and those tiny spark plug caps!
This is an amazing piece of good old American ingenuity!
@raynor117 from the front the upper pulley is the alternator and the pulley above the crank is the water pump. The camshaft gear is behind the cover that's bolted to the front of the engine (you can see the silver-colored bolts for it behind the water pump). As the uploader mentioned, he didn't connect any hoses to the water pump.
this is probably the coolest thing I'll see all day . . .
Good job man. Very cool! Now just need a 1/6th '57 Chevy to put it in!
I like the oldschool ram's head exhaust manifolds.
A true work of art!
peace
What a classic engine the L-79. Now all you need is a corvette body.
this is my favorite one so far. it seems like most of them have some kind of scale problem that makes it look weird. this one is more realistic . the valve covers and exhaust manifolds look great! I want one!

My hat's off to your machining skills.

how could someone NOT like this? its the coolest thing in the world!! :-)
It might sound like a 2-stroke, but if you go to the web site indicated above, you will see photos the engine in various stages of disassembly. It's clearly a 4-stroke engine.
@patwwe It's called ram horn exhaust manifold that was primary for some cars for Chevrolet in the 60s.
..that distributor cap is the cutest thing hahahaha!!!!!
@patwwe This engine does not have headers. It has an exhaust manifold that combines all the exhause into one pipe.
@TheRacerW it is plumbed for water cooling but just haven't getten around to building a radiator yet.
Beautiful! What a little jewel!
put it in a rc car body and race people who think its a normal rc.
"hey, wanna race rc cars?" "sure" *puts cars at starting line* "READY? GET SET. GO!" *chugga VROOM* *SREECH* "NO FAIR! WAAAAH"
@raynor117 if it's really patterned after a Chevy V8 there is no timing belt driving the camshaft. It's driven off the crankshaft by a gear.
Wow this is amazing! How it was possible to make all of these parts ,I can't even guess. Especially spark plugs. Imagine trying to clean a gunked up carb on this, holy crud!
OH MY GOD! That is the coolest thing I've ever seen!
So that you can be the one who can legitimately say "I've got a V8 in my go-kart." That's why. :P
That's crazy. I can't imagine what the future will be like if that's the next motor.
@ARrider97 water cooled. You can see the water pump and thermostat. He just didn't have a rad connected so a short run with no water
@stevecraignet glad i was able to lend you some inspiration
Hold your hand over the exhaust and see if the tone changes or maybe you might wanna check you fuel mixture for the COX plane engine inside

This is EXTREMELY AWESOME!!
@ignuz I just had this image of you pulling a cone and then coming across this video.... pissed myself laughing
i want a rebuildable engine like this to take apart and put back together. would be super cool
It's perfect for an Go-kart.... I would love having a go-kart with that engine....
that is a nice piece of machinery.
Nice little motor man. Good buid
@denisrenelara distributer location is one. fords are on the front. chev on the back
@blackdragonx1186 actually Conley motors are twice the size of this motor.
@LimitlessAeon619 ..I'm not talking about the 'sound', but the 'frequency'. The 'sound' is as expected.
@PETERSxMACHINE The prius produces 295 pound-feet of torque from 0 to 1,200 rpm
Well considering its a scaled size it doesn't matter how many cylinders it has or what its for, they're usually 2 stroke because of the size. I do know about motors
@abelucious yeah to power you windshield wipers, the guys hand is almost bigger than the motor its self

@oldthrash83 It sounds like a nitro due to the size but he said its got spark plugs and a distr. so im gonna say gas the nitro's are 2 stroke diesels
Sounds pretty good for something that small. Add a belt tentioner so the fanbelt stops looking like it's going to fall off, and it would be sweet as in a 1/6 scale remote controlled car. Just big enough to shove one of the kids in. LOL
This is awesome. The critics who can't even handle a screwdriver should just go take a long walk off a short pier.
that is so cool!! put that on a 1:6th scale rc. car. that would be amazing
its like one of those 90s detachable radios so no one steals it just....... its the engine instead
@MrDiego205 that would be so awesome to have a miniature V-8 HEMI engine for a go-kart!! that would be so cool and FUN to have HEMISPHERICAL heads on engine that size...good idea man!!
That is an engineering marvel! I'm just curious why it doesn't sound like a V8, but more like a 2 stroke single cylinder weed wacker.
where does the alternator hook up too? oh i see the coil is under the table makes more sense now XD
I wish he was genius it was the 80's he even built his own car with an all aluminum body sexy as hell and one of a kind
@SmashMat thats awesome..thanks for the info friend!
dude put that into a little rc and you gota beast haha! i want one!!
@bigdaddymatty17 not after thirty seconds a motor needs to warm up and open the thermostat before it even starts pumping water through the block, and warming up take a couple minutes
This is way cool now all we need is a small street rod and a small driver :-)
this is actually incredible. imagine shoving it into an rc car or something. how much HP does it put out :P
@ChuddleBuggy If you have 2 cylinders this normally gives 180 degrees. Just look out for an old Fiat 500 or 126 ("Maluch") or Citroen 2CV or Visa.

An v8 engine got a characteristic sound, don't matter if it's big or small
@Wochensau Okay, I stand corrected. First time I ever heard a v8 that sounded like this.
@GitarStu
Probably more information than we needed haha. :P
*throws wallet at screen*
love how it can fit in your hand and it probaly still wore powerful than a honda lol
There is a replacement for displacement, super and turbocharging that's how 2jz rb-30 ect get over 1000hp, but there's no replacement for longevity, but, I still love the inline 6 :D.
sweet dude! looks like that took alot of fabrication , you thinking about putting it in anything? maybe a model airplane?
you deffinetly need to make a 1/6th scale chevy dude
Now THAT'S what I call a small-block!
295(ft-lb torque) X 1,200 RPM =354,000/5252=67.4HP from the Prius motor
somewhere out there on the web is a fully functional scale model of a ferarri
add a propeler to it and you have the strongest desk fan :)
if I ever have to get a scooter as an old man, this is what I would want to power it!
Mr. Adams, your scooter store 9000 is due for an oil change! :D
@acegear1 He'd probably make a little honda motor that would have 1/4 the hp this thing does.
@brapmikeybrap Just the coolness factor..being able to say you have a tiny V-8 powered go-kart..but i agree though if i were building a shifter Kart..a GSXR1000 or R1 would be my engine of choice...but that tiny engine would be so cool on a kart

Either that, or the whole thing is a spoof, and there is really just one cylinder inside. LOL
you're belts are loose :P lol that's pretty sweet :) Has anyone ever put one of these in a bigwheel? :D
i put a motor on my bicycle, i think with a good mounting plate in the frame i could rig this up to work,, i'd probably be doing 60mph+ easily with this, single cylinder 4 strokes can already get 40mph. very cool. but guessing there's no where to buy them and this is custom?
can this be built into an rc replica? bcoz that would be even more impressive
They should make a 1/3 or 1/4 scale for powerwheels. That would be sick!!!
"mommy when i grow up i want to beat a mustang"
Hey, this is a great project! I don't think some of these people realize all of the work that went into this! Great job! Now make a 1/6 scale corvette for it to go into! LOL No really, great job!
Put a muffler on the thing, so the "quiet" lets people hear other mechanical noises.
This is AWESOME!
@acegear1 nope, but think of the post as questions
love the thought, and the video!! is there any way to maybe put a modified camshaft? just wondering.
@acegear1 the conley 609 is smaller. you've done a nice job though...
@4x4runr...Chuck Norris uses it with a 'shaver' attachment...
@AlabamaCrackerHonkey I think you mean how many crickets is it putting out??? lol
ive wanted to see that my whole life man
that's an awesome carb
That must have been a pain in the ass to build
beautiful work... Would love to see how much power it makes
Probably not even 0.5 hp
