He wants people to be talking about Tom Brady a hundred years from now and they will be. Generations down the line the Brady family will be getting work and special deals all because of what Tom Brady has done. He doesn't need to make 40 million a year to do that. You don't hear teammates of the QB's you mentioned how "they bought a mentality to team, that QB brought us together". You only hear that with Brady, NO ONE ELSE. and that's FACTS. I don’t think it’s no one else knows how to do their job properly but that Brady has not just the work ethic but knows how to drop the ego too. Too many players get one title and their ego takes over. Too many people are concerned about their next contract and want to blow out the stats. Most just don’t have the combination of work ethic, attention to detail, dropping ego at the door, and leadership capabilities that Brady has.

    Tom Brady has an effect because he leads by example.
    A lot of these other QBs are very good - and can match him physically but they don't do the things that seem trivial - learning the rookies' names, showing up and being prepared, contributing to the game plan, organize throwing sessions with his receivers, taken very good care of himself and keeps fit in the off season, etc. He isn't a saint and his willingness to take less is because he has already won the SB and can see the long term benefit of winning one more SB.
    We'll see others copy this.

    Tampa won for a host of reasons. Brady was "tired" of NE, Tampa was young (hugely talented D), NO taxes in Florida, loads of talent willing to move for a trophy. The players have also realized they have their own levers to work. Maybe the most important lesson is the players realizing their clout

    • @kalel33
      @kalel33 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as much clout as you think. I'm sure the other owners are telling the Texans to not trade Watson no matter what. It would set a precedent. They want to nip it in the bud before others get the idea. The Texans have him wrapped up until 2026. If he held out for a year it still would not matter because they still own his rights until 2026. He would either have to retire to try to work things out. If he retired the Texans can get back over $21M in signing money back from him. Even if he sat out training camp, that would cost him $2.5M.

      I read that athletes tend to lose 1% running speed every year and I looked at Tyreek Hill's numbers and that has been accurate. He started off Olympic fast but he is slowly coming down to just really fast. Mahomes, with this surgery, may lose 3% speed and him running out of the pocket makes him more prone to get injured again. I watched the 3 defenders crushing him in the Super Bowl and I really don't think he will have a long career. I really believe that only the players with the most discipline and strongest work ethic and the most mental toughness are the ones who can win multiple Super Bowls.

    Brady laid the groundwork for his "escape" from the Patriots years ago, when he first started talking about short term contracts and no franchise tags. He could do that because Belichick didn't want a long term contract anyway, and because Brady had built up some cred with ownership (Kraft). And his resume made him marketable (even then there were a lot of doubters). The problem for other teams/quarterbacks is that none of them have the contractual flexibility that Brady had. There were no worries about cap hits with Brady as there are with every other quarterback in the league! So now there will be attempts to shoehorn things together to make it work for other teams, but the odds are these attempts will fail. I mean, look at the cap hits issues with Wilson, Watson, Wentz, Stafford, Goff. The Bady effect will be an anomaly only as long as Brady is still playing.
