Yes, but the price difference between picking up a first generation second hand or almost new is very large. Yes the new Niken would be better, but both suffer from high depreciation so you would need to weigh this up before buying. You could upgrade the first gen Niken rear shock with ohlins suspension. But I agree the second gen Niken is an improvement on the original but I could not justify the cost of changing the bike so I'll be sticking with the model I have and after 4 years of ownership it still impresses me.
I took delivery of a Niken in March 2023. Wow. What a ride. So comfortable, smooth and planted on the road. The safest motorbike in the world.
