I know this might not be a popular opinion but I honestly think it sounds better coming out of the wiimote. The original samples are really compressed and muffled but the wiimote speaker has that Christmas to it that isn't necessarily clear but it kind of takes out some of the muddiness of the audio sample.
That's because interpolation is on, muffling the sound due to its low sample rate. If you turn off interpolation, the samples will sound crunchy again.

There was a game that used the wiimote speaker for phone calls! It's called "Lit" and it's like a school full of darkness (you die if you go in the darkness, so you have to light up your path) I only ever had the demo, but there was a part where you would walk up to a phone, push a button to pick it up, then place the wiimote by your ear to hear someone talking to you. It was a really cool concept.

Listening to these again paints a clear picture of which characters I played all the time as a kid. The wiimote sounds for characters like Kirby, Pikachu, Toon Link, Sonic and Lucas live in my head rent free.

Actually you CAN select Zero Suit Samus in the Brawl roster. When selecting Samus, just hold L and R (Gamecube/Classic Controller) or Z (Nunchuk) or minus (WiiMote)

I’m guessing that it was reused for this because it wasn’t too far off from TP Ganondorf’s shouting and the Wii mote’s horrible sound quality further disguises that fact. Little interesting fact: the clip’s file name in Melee partly has KIRIFUDA (trump card/last resort in Japanese), which itself is close to the Final Smash’s Japanese name of 最後の切りふだ, or Saigo no Kirifuda (Last Trump Card) likely meaning it was intended for the Melee incarnation of Final Smashes (it’s a well-known fact that Sakurai had been wanting to add them since the original game).
i find it odd that the Dorf and Bowser have older sound effects. the roar is only heard from Bowser in the N64 era. similar for Ganon except that some of it is reused for Melee.

Sounds like they increased the bass on the sounds to compensate for how the Wiimote sounds. The actual sound files sounds higher quality, but muffled, while the Wiimote sounds more correct, but lower quality.
Captain Falcon was a character my and my old buds always picked. We’d try to sync the sound with each other’s wiimote so many times, that grunt and Luigi’s “hi-ya!” (Since he was my brawl main) will always be etched to my brain.
These audio clips are so ingrained in my brain that whenever I selected any brawl characters during Smash 4 and when I select characters in Ultimate, I do these voice clips myself 😂😂😂

Imagine joycons making sounds for stuff like collecting coins in Oddessy for example similar to starbits in galaxy or Ultimate giving us their voicelines

That's my only complaint with the video. Like, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charizard are all the same character. Same for Zelda and Sheik. (At least on the character select screen) Also bugs me he didn't do Zero Suit Samus but that's fine because selecting her is a secret. (You hold a button down when selecting Samus and you'll load in as Zero Suit Samus)

the reason you can hear high frequencies on the wiimote speaker is because it doesn't use a filter on those low frequency sounds (as it should), so those high frequencies you hear are aliasing(they were not in the original recording)

In the Japanese version it is a different clip I think it says Purin? I don't remember Not sure about other versions but other characters have different wiimote sounds in the Japanese version (Fox, Falco, Wolf, Ike, Pit, Jigglypuff, Snake etc)

In Smash 4 you could still use WiiMotes, but they didn't add this feature apparently
The HD rumble can play music in a certain level of Kirby Star Allies, they probably can make that for Super Smash Bros Ultimate
